Considering a 34" ultrawide? Consider this 43" monster instead. It's wider than a 34", much taller, and has similar ppi. Philips are even kind enough to include a VGA cable in case you need to hook it up to your Windows 95 computer.

Key features:

  • IPS
  • W-LED backlight (non-PWM, flicker-free)
  • 100% sRGB (someone on WP measured it at 99%)
  • 200x200 VESA mount
  • 4-port USB 3.0 hub
  • Audio in, headphone out
  • 2x DisplayPort 1.2, 2x HDMI 2.0 MHL, 1x VGA
  • DisplayPort, HDMI, VGA cables included
  • Built-in speakers
  • Zero-watt standby with a physical power switch
  • 9.4kg without stand

One thing to remember to do is to get into the OSD and set the DisplayPort inputs on the monitor to 1.2 (or HDMI inputs to 2.0) to get 60Hz as it defaults to 1.1 which will only give you 30Hz.

$895 - 10% = $805.50, plus $15 shipping = $820.50
Philips cashback is $100, making it $720.50.

Cashrewards will return a further $11.64, making it $708.87.

(All should qualify for the $100 cashback too)

There were early reports about image retention, but that seems to have only affected early batches in the US. I don't experience it on mine.

Actual panel dimensions:
37.5"/95.2cm wide
21.1"/53.5cm high

34" ultrawide panel dimensions:
31.4"/79.7cm wide

        • @menkom: OK, glad you're happy with your purchase. The issues with the early panels were already mentioned in the review linked to at the top.

I considered a 34" ultrawide but concluded that such a narrow viewport is "pathetic for productivity", based on my UltraSharp U2913WM. OK maybe not "pathetic", just not as good as a taller screen.

A 43" has more height which means I can choose to have exactly the same viewing area as a 34" ultrawide, and still have plenty of room to spare at the top and bottom for additional windows or toolbars.

To each their own! We all have different requirements and preferences. Enjoy your monitor!

  • Thanks. Just thinking I need to replace my twin 22inch setup and I check OzB for deals and I see this. Better than I had hopped for.

  • Out of stock!
Been umm aaahing but no regrets.

  • TBH i'm a bit surprised the deal has lasted this long, thought it would be O/of stock within the same day it was posted.

    • 46 sold in 3 days… that's $41k in sales. 46 seems pretty good for an expensive item like this, I think!
