What is the warranty situation on this? I can see service is Australia/Hong Kong, but nothing regarding length of warranties.

  • +2

I think this is the cheapest I saw on OzB

  • OP, would you be able to provide a valid URL for the Robot please any chance?

    Thanks

    • +1

I reckon this is the one OP is talking about.

But i suggest you use cashreward, then go to ebay, search xiaomi mi robot vacuum and pick the one cheapest. You won't miss it

      • +2

No need like that. Just use the ebay link, put in cart, then sign in to cashrewards, search ebay store and click shop now, at eBay page go to cart it will still be there and then check out.

        • +1

          thanks for that.
I missed few rebates from various website. It appears that you'd better use cashreward first to be safe.

Can you use this to clean non Xiaomi robots?

    • yes, it actually can clean you too, what a bargain!

    • +1

Yes this will clean all robots, except iBots as they are closed propriety robots, for these you will need to get an expensive iBot iCleanerBot they are white and newer updates will render it useless and there none replaceable battery's last about 18 months, they are also pron to bending but unlike Galaxy Bots they will not explode.

      • +3

Wait there's pron on my iBot?

    • Nope. As they cannot speak Mandarin.

if this arrives before roboguy's "still not sure if legit" xiaomi…..

  • from xiaomi's offical Taobao shop, https://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.1-b-s.w5003-1653…

    the price is about $318.55+(re)shipping

    • China Post will not ship anything with battery. Neither do any Taobao international shipping partner. Simply not obtainable.

  • Damnit, I should've waited. I bought for $383 last weekends deal =(

  • +3

price is great, but my Xaiomi Xiaofang camera never arrived from Shopping Squre as was the case for many others…..additionally Roboguy already has my money for one of these…. continue waiting I shall..

    • +7

      continue waiting I shall..

May the force be with you master Yoda.

    • Roboguy is spending our money in Bali, it's already been 38 days since I ordered.

  • +2

Same as SKD22. I never received my order bought from ShoppingSquare 2 months ago and they won't refund my money back. Asked me to log the case in their site but their customer support start talking nonsense and ask same question again and again to drag the time day by day.
Beware this seller. They have been getting really bad reputation.

Shopping Square operate under many eBay accounts. They are based in Stanmore, NSW. http://www.ksonline.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&task…

Put in a dispute then get ebay to step in asap for a refund. I'm Ss should be avoided.

      • +3

Agreed, get Ebay to do the hard yards, raise a dispute and ask for a refund, item hasn't arrived no tracking details etc as the reason, anything Shopping square ask you to do outside of eBay I'd ignore. Good luck

  • I forgot that this is from HK. what about the GST and admin fee at time (JULY) it will be delivered.

  • +2

I bought last weeks deal from shopping square and it arrived a day ago. Must have been australian stock.

    • Same. mine arrived on Tuesday.

      • Mine too

  • +2

Hmm…people who buy these will probably still get it delivered before my one from the roboguys deal.

On a positive note, I'm sure my mum has already forgotten about the robot vac i promised her for mothers day. So I can probably claim it as her birthday gift as well.

    • depwnds on the time it arrives, you may say its a christmas gift/next birthday gift or something like that

    • And hey there's always Xmas if we see any other delays

  • Mine has just arrived (from the previous deal unfortunately) and wife isn't too happy with me for a couple of reasons:

    • No english instructions and the voice stuff is all in chinese
    • Manual (looking at the pictograms) seems to say it has no concept of understand stairs (as in, not falling down them) - which the iRobot stuff did do..

Anyone got a pointer towards an english manual and a way to stop this falling down stairs without having to put a blockade up (which of course ends up being pretty inconvenient..)

    • +1

It has sensors (cliff sensors) to stop it from falling down stairs.

You can change the app language and the spoken language both to English.

  • Other initial observations:

    • It's incredibly noisy. Wife has noticed a lot of rattling noise. Since this was a present for her (i.e something she wanted) I am in trouble.
    • We have tried to get the app to work and no luck so far. Only way to change settings and so on is using the app.
    • The App is apparently pretty much in Chinese..

I am looking into what is involved in returning it at this point which may be easier than having an unhappy wife for the life of the product.. it's a shame as with some minor things being done it could have turned out a lot better..

  • OK, further update now that we've run it for a while:

    • The extreme noise was because it had picked up a small piece of matchstick and it was much quieter once we figured this out and removed it..
    • We also turned the suction down to 'quiet' mode - it appears to have have 4 modes - quiet, normal, turbo, MAX.
    • There is a semi-english version of the app. It has some key things in english but not everything. However it is usable..
    • With the latest firmware you can change the voice from Chinese to a female English.. which my wife definitely prefers

So i'd definitely recommend you apply the latest firmware.

In terms of operating, the battery is pretty amazing and you're more likely to fill the dustbin well before running out of battery (particularly in our house where we have cats and dogs..)

As someone else has commented, you can sort of ignore the manual because it does have cliff sensors and won't (shouldn't) fall down any stairs. You can also block rooms off using magnetic tape (which ranges from $15 to $5 depending on what you buy..)

I'd say based on the wife's reaction now that things are mostly in english.. we will keep this one. She commented that a run over both our upstairs and downstairs areas was comparable to how she would vaccuum.. not as thorough as I would but good enough for her.

The mapping technology is excellent to show you where it has been.
