    • You are allowed to DIY, but I think you need to watch a few youtube videos to learn how to do it.

I certainly don't recommend jamming the cable in, or taping the earth wire to the earth.

Watch videos and decide whether you can do it or get a professional.

  • Great deal about to buy a new car need to use this for insurance or just in case

  • Can someone please share how to install the hardware kit? I'm new to this hardware wire thing got no idea what it is and how to hook it up.

    Please help fellow Ozbargainers =)

I'm getting a new car soon would like to hook this up

  • I'm confused…after reading 3 pages of posts, I'm not sure who the dodgy seller is and which one is the best deal? Is the OP the best deal (with hardwire kit)?

    • The local seller has increased the price to $140.99. This is not the OP. OP is still at $120.50.

I wouldn't label anyone dodgy yet. Sometimes things happen and the seller isn't able to send immediately as promised.

I was planning to buy from the local seller but will go with the OP now.

      • Cool…thanks. I think I will also go with OP

    • I just received mine from the "dodgy" local seller who hijacked this thread. He included a hardwire kit to compensate for sending them out late, so the deal ended up matching the Chinese one. Phew!

After reading up on all the info on SD cards I could I decided to go with the Samsung Evo+. Managed to get it from http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-EVO-Plus-64GB-Micro-SD-SD… for $31.92 with code CTAX20. Originally wanted a Transcend High Endurance but seems like minimal stock around and cheapest price I could find was upwards of $70.

    • Cheers, ordered one too

  • Ordered one, thanks OP

  • Just got an Australia post notice that my dashcam will be delivered tomorrow.

Looks like the local seller hasn't even shipped most of his stock yet

  • Has anyone used the LDWS or FCWS (lane & collision warnings), I was surprised to see these in the manual as I didn't notice them on the A119s menu? I can't imagine they are very useful, if they work at all? (I just read "LDWS/FCWS only works in 1080P 30fps mode due to hardware limitation").

Also, reviewing the footage from my A119s I now feel for our low angle windscreen the CPL filter is necessary. Is $20 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/-/132229853336 the best deal going around?

    • Disclosure: I don't own this dashcam yet, but intend on getting it, and had the same question as you about which CPL filter to get.

Looking on eBay, there seem to be two styles of CPL filter.
      * Style one is flat, does not list the the "V2" of the A119S, and is cheaper at $10.48: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/232323079587 … but I have to suspect this may not work, given the V1 and V2 look to have different sized lenses. Unless someone with the V2 can confirm this works, I'd personally avoid it.
      * Style two is not flat, and looks like the one you posted. Cheapest I've seen is $15.15: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/302313949620 … however that item does not list the V2. It does list all the other models "A118C2/A119 /A119S" as the item you listed. I suspect it's the same, but without the V2 listed you probably don't have much comeback if it doesn't fit. Up to you to decide if it's worth saving the $5 but taking that risk. Edit: or just ask this seller if it works on the V2, that way if they say yes and it doesn't you're protected under eBay's "item not as described" provisions. If they say no, then buy the $20 one that does list the V2.

  • Dashcam arrived today, installed with hardwire kit.. Was the perfect length for my Hyundai Tucson.

Just waiting on my fuse tap to do the final connection!

    • Wondering how would you connect the red cable from the hardwire kit to fuse tap? Do you need to cut the cable out?

      • Soldering them together or use a crimp connector to join them. Don't forget to use some electrical tape or shrink wrap over the exposed joint to make sure you don't short out the connection and cause a electrical fire

      • Yeah the red cable has a fork terminal for some reason. Chop that.

    • Mine was delivered from HK this morning. Tracking number was correct even though it didn't come up anywhere.

  • Got my camera from the Chinese seller. The second one I purchased from the Aussie seller thinking I would get it last week still has not Arrived. I'll be leaving my first ever negative feedback for this bloke

Anyone know what the 3M double coated tissue paper included with the camera is for? Nothing in the manual about it

    • +2

You put that between the GPS and the camera to stop it from moving.

      • Thank you

    • Did you buy the 2nd one from the aussie seller linked by Sydney.jj in teh comments on 1st page? I bought one on 19 expecting delivery on tuesday as that what was listed by ebay for express post. Didnt get email until Wednesday saying he was away and was sent out late Friday. Ended up getting the camera on 27th.

Also, if you check his ebay post, the camera details have now been changed. It says it only has an F1.8 lens and comes with foam.

  • Mine delivered yesterday.

  • Received mine yesterday morning. So far no issues at all, great video quality too.

  • I received 2 out of 4 cameras from the Chinese seller

    • Did you order them together or separately? 4 Camera's!

      • +1

Ordered 2 together then 2 separate, had to buy one for each family member :P

Had to hunt down different codes to reduce the price from $120 ^_^

FYI to any purchasers, latest firmware was released 22/06/17:

    http://support.viofo.com/support/solutions/articles/19000047…

  • Received, and really impressed with the bundle. Every power & mounting option you could need - nothing to buy but the SD card.

  • Bought 2 from the original Chinese seller. They arrived yesterday, but I haven't had a chance to test. I also bought the CPL filters and earthing kits from the Aussie seller. Those arrived 2 days after I ordered.

  • Is there a way to check which lens you have? The aussie seller has updated his listing to say the camera now has F1.8 lens instead of F1.6.

Looking through the comments, he didn't send items out in order as i ordered on 19th before 2pm and didn't receive until 27th as it was posted on Fri 23rd. I got the email saying he would be away until 23rd but people had their camera shipped out on 22nd.

  • If anyone is having jerky playback, it can be fixed by switching from VLC to windows media player.

Installed (I too wondered about the 4 foam pads, I will install one now that I know why it's there). Will test it out at night and see if it produces readable number plates.

  • Anyone installed the hardwire kit for constant recording?

I installed mine but not to an always on circuit.

Also strangely the files came out at 650mb per 3 mins and i could read number plates no problem. This was around 2pm, at around 4.45pm with the sun setting the file sizes dropped to 500mb per 3mins and number plates becaume blurry. Any ideas whatb this could be

  • Probably something to do with the way the compression works.. I'm just speculating here, but perhaps the darker/black frames compress better as there is no detail in them?

(Just to be clear, the above is a total absolute guess!)

  • Installed and started using this dashcam last night, very pleased with it so far. Thanks OP!

  • My last camera is being delivered today from the China seller.

Do you guys use the CPL clip on these or there is no real need?

    • +1

You should decide based on your own footage. If you are getting a lot of reflections from the windscreen then it'll be better to use the CPL filter.

  • Received mine plus hardwire kit but havent opened it. I already have the xiaomi dash which has wifi to view videos on your phone.. not sure if i want to keep it. Maybe i can stick the other one to rear face?

  • Received just a week from order date. Auspost tracked even though there is a hongkong sender address. Looks great cant wait to try on road
