  • How much is shipping ?

    • +3

      free

      • +2

It's worth paying double that to get this cam.

        • Hell with cash rewards I'd even go triple that

    • -3

Just a warning, add $80 for a 128GB micro SD card. I think this camera does not compress the video to H.264 which means 32GB micro sd card will only save 20mins-40mins depends on FPS.

      • +1

Are you sure? That still is pretty bad ( 160 minutes) with big card.

        • I just checked my 119A recordings 1440P @ 30fps are about 550mb/3 minutes so about 185 Megabytes a minute.
Just changed it to 720P for a test.

        • @Kegsta:
A119s is 1080p. A 32gb should record about four hours.

      • A 32gb should record about four hours at 1080p.

        • Hmmm, my 32Gb gets over written after 45mins at 1080P. Maybe I am using 60FPS.

        • @dreamscene:

Hmmm, my 32Gb gets over written after 45mins at 1080P. Maybe I am using 60FPS.

          that is strange. we get >92 x 3min 1080p mov with a a118c when using 32gb.

          edit.
we don't record sound. that could be it.

        • +1

          @dreamscene:

I record sound and 1080p60 and get much longer than that before stuff overwrites.

I suspect you have the G sensor turned on and it has falsely detected a bunch of collisions, locking lots of files on the card. Format it, and turn that feature off, and you'll get much more time between overwrites.

Shipped by UBI smart parcel… fast delivery.. mine arrived in about a week.
This deal also includes the hardwire kit.

    • how is the device performing? any indications that the stuff is not genuine? im thinking of getting one myself but its super cheap, seems too good to be true

Set this unit up over the weekend. This price is super sweet!

To answer your question, it does film 1080p in 60fps. Or at least it is an option in the menu under resolution.

Actually, local stock and $3.50 ($117) cheaper here, meaning you'll get it sooner.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AU-VIOFO-A119S-2-0-Capacitor-Nova…

So applying the $20 brings it down to $97 (I just tried it and it worked in my cart without checking out).

    • +1

Good find. This one has the hardwire kit though.

      Expected Delivery is the same.

    • +2

      That doesn't have GPS

      • Ahh yep my bad.

    • +1

This is without GPS, so it's very expensive. Also the seller is just a drop shipper, check Item Description. We just buy when we see the Australian Flag and AU stock !!

  • Anyone from NZ try it? the code doesn't work :(

  • Purchased, thanks op! Been waiting for this one to come on special. Great deal.

  • Decent deal but don't pay much extra for the hardware kit though. You can get them for a few dollars on ebay- http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/12V-24V-to-5V-USB-Hardwire-DC-Car…

    • So how much without Hardware Kit. Any cheaper deal..

  • Great buy for the V2! Just got one even though I have a couple of V1s. The GPS mounting is much better on the V2. Great camera. Grab a high endurance microSD card for them though, Sandisk's aren't known as great for these (I had first hand experience too)

  • I currently have a A119 V1 as my front dash cam but want to get a rear cam happening.
Would another A119 work well? Anyone using one as a rear cam?

  • +1

Any recommendations on microSD cards for this? Looking at probably a 32G?

    • +2

Samsung EVO are the recommended SD cards for these.

      • +1

Any idea if 32GB is sufficient, given it has loop recording? At 1080p 60fps how long would you get before footage is recorded over?

        • +1

I'm too lazy to check mine, but mine is 32GB and I think I get 3 days recordings at about 1.5 hours driving each day.

Whatever the actual answer is it uses a lot but as you mentioned loop recordings fix it.

      • Is this deal good?
        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/191261243989

        • 20% off!
    • Lexar high Endurance work well.

    • Lexar 64GB High-Performance is on special here

      • +2

        Looking like $39 now??

        • They have just raised the price :(

        • -1

@flickr: right on time for 20% off? Is Kogan part of it?

    • Im using Lexar 633 high endurance on my Viofo A119, got it right before Kogan drop it to half price…paid for my 64GB around $57 but now is halved…

    • Lexar High Endurance or Transcend High Endurance

  • How long is the hardwire cable? Am looking to mount this at the rear and run cable to front glovebox to plug into my FINE Safer S continuous power supply w/ timer.

    • +1

Looking at similar items on ebay, they seem to come in 3m and 4m lengths.

  • Dam just bought the yi dash

  • Whats the difference between A119 V2 and this A119S V2.

    • +1

A119s use Sony lens which are heaps better for night vision

    • +1

I bought one like two weeks ago for a bit more than this :(

Better night time quality but smaller camera angle.

    • Both A119 and A119S have newer V2 version.If most driving is in the day-time, the A119 is probably fine for you. If you drive a lot at night, then the A119S will be a little better due to Sony sensor;

  • +1

I have had the A119 for around a year. Video quality is outstanding. Make sure you get a compatible Micro-SD Card for it! If you don't, it will still record, but you'll get errors when playing back the files - it won't tell you the card isn't up to it (seems to work fine) so test run it and then look at 5-10mins of footage to be sure.
Sites like this are useful for cards…
    https://www.carcamcentral.com/guide/recommended-sd-cards-avo…

Also, the optional filter, I have it, it just slips on over the lens and is not held in place by anything so is very easily knocked off. Doesn't quite com off by itself, but it literally just sits over the lens.

    • I'm not sure why your filter comes off, but if it is the official one it clips in with plastic teeth. Seems reasonably sturdy for me.

      • Mine has no teeth. It's the official one, was waiting ages for it's release. Fits nice, just nothing holing it.

        Maybe I got a knock off……

    • Thanks for the link.
I have the Lexar 633x in mine (used to be recommended for Dashcams) but I see its now NOT recommended, in favour of the High Endurance model SD cards instead, so might replace it.

  • Question, is parkmode cams worth it?

  • +1

$100 for this kit is ver good. It's a shame tha t we already have three dash cams and another one on the way.

  • +2

Thanks Deeps! With all the positive feedback from OzB community for Viofo A119S, I have ordered my first ever dashcam!!

    • Same.. sold!

  • +1

Great deal. I bought it for 150 with the hardwire kit:(

    • I bought one last month for $113 without gps or hardwire, but it was from local seller.

  • +6

I'm assuming it needs to be hardwired to record whilst parked? If hardwired, does the hardwire kit protect the battery from not being drained?

    • yes it does. Hardwire kit that i have got, it trips if power drops below 11.2V for 12V battery or 22.? for 24 Volts battery.

  • Bought my first dash cam as well. Thanks OP!!!

  • +1

I have this cam hard wired to my car for a few months now. I highly recommend the CPL filter.

    • +2

Would you be able to give a quick rundown of the parking mode?

  • Just picked this up with a 32GB Samsung Evo Plus card. Been wanting a dashcam for ages, good excuse to finally bite the bullet.

      • No, ended up getting the original deal as the hardwire kit may come in handy one day.

        • i guess extra $7 bucks with express post and local warranty doesn't work for ya :)

        • @sydney.jj: could you please share the link again, as I couldn't find in the post.

          Thanks

        • +3

@OzSikhs: I don't think he's allowed to share it as the seller, but here it is

Also - he's increased the price to $140.99 before discount (i.e. $120.99 after discount) the bastard.

Gonna message him to ask for a price drop..!!

edit: Ok just realised he's in the penalty box (probably for sockpuppeting) so I can't message him.

        • @illumination: thank you

        • @OzSikhs: So you can post it again ?

        • So you can post it again ?

          What do you mean ?

        • @illumination: dodgy af, wow

  • What would be the best place to mount this to cover the back and sides of the car.

  • Anyone know how this compares to the Mobius?

    • Totally different sort of unit.

Mobius is a great camera overall but it's hardware is pushing 3+ years now so the low light just isn't comparable. I have a Mobius in-situ currently and will re-purpose it to the rear of the car.
Mobius - Great daylight, super discreet, harder to mount.
Viofo - great day and night, easier to mount, less discreet (but still good) especially if you have the dark patch above the mirror.

  • how does this dashcam compare with G1W-C regarding the vid quality? (i read that the gps is terrible, so dont really care about that)

    • +1

video quality is heaps better as they use Sony IMX2291 lens and night vision were sharp as. make sure you buying local as i have comment earlier with a cheaper alternative locally with warranty.

      • thank you.

  • Purchased the unit without hardwire kit last week! grrrr is it better to order the hardwire kit and then get an installer? I'm a noob with a fairly new vehicle and don't have confidence in my own ability to install it

    • How much did you pay? i paid $113 withput gps or hardwire. Thinking to use 30days refund and send that back and buy this.

      • +1

paid $130 cbf returning as I've had too many close calls recently with the rain. Am motivated to have it installed but have been given prices that are out of this world for hardwiring

        • interested in getting it hardwired - how much have you been quoted for hardwiring just out of curiosity. thanks

  • +1

Where do you actually hard wire it to? The fuse box in the glove box?

    • battery would be easier, if you can wire it to the fuse box, that would be better.

    • I would say fuse box would be better using something like a fuse tap
      https://www.jaycar.com.au/double-mini-blade-fuse-socket-wire…

You just have to figure out which fuse has 12v power when the car is on

My concern is if you tap it to the battery line so it keeps running when the car is off how long till it drains a standard car battery?

      • Yes that's exactly the adapter I had in mind. I leave my car for weeks at a time when 'm away for work so if it was directly wired to power I would be worried it would drain - not sure if hooking it up via the fuse box would change that though?

      • +2

The hardwire kit is designed to cut off the dashcam when the voltage reaches a certain level - so you can still start the car.

I think this one cuts off at 11.7V

        • +2

it trips off when battery drops below 11.2V

        • @AshFon:

Is that confirmed that the cut-off is 11.2v? I don't think many cars would start with voltage that low.

        • It looks like the Viofo one is 11.6 volts, which is still very low http://www.viofo.com/accessories/19-dash-camera-vehicle-hard…

But it looks like this comes with a different one, I bought one from this same seller for my dad it arrived last week, I'll go check what it has on it.

        • @Blackrose: It usually says on the hard wire unit, my unit says cut off is 11.2V for 12V and 22.? for 24v battery. Having said that my unit is over 2 year old, may be things have change now.

Optionally you can buy hardwire kit which allows you to set cut off volts or time.
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikDSneK-ddY

        • The one that came with my dads cam has 11.8 on it as the cut-off.
I had had seen that and similar ones with select-able cut-off, don't really need select-able cut-off or the other features they offer, but if I can't find a simple one with a cut-off above 12v might have to consider one of those.

    • You can hardwire it to any 12V constant (or switched if you want it to turn off when ignition is off) source in the vehicle. Typically people use a fuse tap and wire it from there.

  • Anyone else having problems with cashrewards and ebay. My last 2 ebay purchases have not tracked even tough I have the chrome extension enabled and it was flashing green each time

    • have had a lot of issues with purchases not being tracked over the past few months too. I also made sure the chrome ext is showing "now activated" and green but still wasn't tracked.

  • Perfect, thank you OP! Literally been looking at buying this over the last week since I'be been binge watching dashcamsaus on youtube everyday.

Does anybody know if the parking mode works and how to get it working?
