Okay price but I'll probably never open the box. Already have too many consoles, and the older ones - like my two ps3 consoles aren't getting any love these days. Both in storage. X360 could be good for the beach house, but I need to buy a beach house first to be able to take it there ;-P

ooooooooffff very tempting to buy and connect to monitor just to play 'xbox' exclusives…..

Eb is offering a preowned bundle for $118 with two games and a Kinect https://ebgames.com.au/xbox360-801325-Xbox-360-Slim-250GB-Co…

Yeah but preowned. Fecal matter, all sorts of bodily fluids and food particles included with your controller at no extra cost. :P

You can clean them with disinfectant cleaner, isn't it.
Same or more germs when you travel in trains, buses or public places and touching everywhere.

EB Games loves to send pre-owned when buying NEW too. So the fecal matter may come free. Usually the bulk of the fecal matter comes from EB Games' management.

Hmm… was recently considering getting the original Xbox to play some of the classic on that, but then thought it may be worth getting the 360 as it looks like the games I'd want to play are compatible with the 360, plus the further games available (ie. Halo 3 and so on).

On one hand, going 360 will give me a greater library and I can buy brand new, but I have a hankering for getting the original, mostly based on nostalgia.

    Hard choice.

      • Original Xbox will not pound you with microwaves out-of-the-box. It is worth getting.
      • Xbox 360 E will play heaps of games the Xbox One doesn't, so it's also worth getting. It uses far less power than earlier releases, so it's also low on the ongoing costs in comparison to early XBOX 360 releases, particularly the lovely failure-prone e-waste that was the first XBOX 360 release. If being pounded with microwaves concerns you, you can remove the wi-fi module and RF module (with some tradeoffs): you'll have to use wired controllers to turn on the unit & eject discs.

Each console has good exclusives and you don't need to bother with any backward-compatibility "YES or NO" situation.

      • Nah, the microwaves can get me. I'm fine with that.

        • I wonder if cheepwun uses a mobile phone, a microwave, watches TV or uses any kind of wifi device at home… let alone going outside and standing in the sun :)

Or maybe he's got a big faraday cage built around his house since he's so determined that "microwaves" are a bad thing :)

          * mobile phone - no except emergency calls
          * microwave - no
          * watches TV - no - well technically very, very little (it's replaced by the computer)
          * faraday caage - yes. I think the garage does well.
          * sun - yes I love it and I was evolved for it. Don't really like extreme cold or extreme hot though.

  • Is it possible to install Kodi on this?

Get two and system link them for local LAN gaming. Plenty of games for a few bucks nowadays.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_360_System_Link_g…

They stopped this on Xbox One.

    • I think NFS:Shift allows networked triple screen.

    • Yes, the newer consoles (and games) in general favour internet play over local multiplayer. A stupid step backwards. Split-screen multiplayer is gone in lots of new games too. They want you online since it earns them good money.

  • Also check out Gumtree, loads on sale there its a buyers market, should be able to get one with a couple of controllers and games for under $50, just make sure to see its working and hasn't RROD.

    • Avoid the early "fat" models, Get a slim or E model, anything from Jasper/Trinity/Corona version is free of RROD issue. Fun fact, Jaspers are prolly the best engineered x360, run cooler than any other model, including the Slims. Can be identified from power socket on the unit and manufacturing date (some googling required).

      • Had an early fat HDMI xbox 360 that only lasted a year before packing it in when the graphics chip stopped working. Replaced it with A fat Jasper and been working for many years since without any problems.

The later models like this one were designed with integrated power supply and HDD to take up less room. By removing the external hard drive (clipped onto the side) and power supply found on the older larger fat models which were also problematic with the first models having all the problems on the early revisions. Plus were also quite noisy if running games directly from the discs. For a quieter experience the games can be installed on the HDD and played from there. Although the original is game disc is stil required to be present in order to start the game from the HDD.

        • The later models like this one were designed with integrated power supply and HDD to take up less room.

The power supply is external in the Xbox 360 E (this model). This particular variation has no hard drive: just a small amount of flash memory.

  • What, my 360 is still worth money?! I might have to dig it out of the garage and gumtree it!

    • Dig it out in 10 years and I bet you'll want to play some games you played when you were younger. Even if that doesn't happen, you'll get more for it then.

  • Was thinking of getting this but found out I have to get an official xbox hdd to play xbox compatible games.

    • You can use an external USB hard drive.
