The iPhone SE is a great phone (coming from someone who's pro Android). Great size, battery and performance. For those who prefer the size of the 5/5S generation of smartphone (smallish screen and physical size), definitely worth it at this price point. +1

    • +1

Agreed. My wife just got one to upgrade her IP5. I'm selling my Galaxy S7 now to get one and I've always been an Android user. I'm over the big screens.

      • My wife went from an IP5 to an SE also. Essentially the internals and specs of a 6S inside a smaller, lighter and more solid build.
What's the best way to sell your S7?

        • I have it on FB and Gumtree

    • +7

Oh hell yes! I went from an iPhone 6, to the SE and LOVE IT. So crazy snappy, it's the fasted iPhone with a headphone jack :)

    • +2

Same story: pro-android user, stocked with this pocket rocket.

  • +1

    It's good for your kids.

  • Looking for iPhone 7!

    • And?

      • +3

        he's looking for one

        • +1

And he expects who to search for him?

        • +1

and iPhone 7 is looking for him

        • @Mellows: who?

    • +4

      Hi deanwan,

Mobileciti currently has the iphone 7 32GB from $845.58, 128GB for $979.03, and 256GB from $1064.3. Here is the search link, thanks

      • I think he meant "looking for iPhone 7 at the lowest price ever on OzBargain".

        • +3

I think these prices are lower than all previous Ozbargain iPhone 7 deals as well, just had a search for past deals and can't find a deal where Australian stock was cheaper.

I heard they made something called a google which can help you look for things on interwebs

      • -4

        Thanks mr bear

      • +3

Nah google never heard of it… it'll never catch on with a name like that. Now ask Jeeves is a search engine that sounds like you can trust to bring you the information you want.

        • Or dogpile. Sounds like you'll get great results from that!

      • Thats what apple will say

iPhone 7 is going to get a price drop right around September, when the iPhone 7S with new camera and the tenth anniversary completely new design Phone 8/Pro comes out.

Got the 128GB version from Mobilciti from another recent eBay %15 offer. Great phone had to move on from my Note4 as it wouldn't function anymore.

HN have a 32GB Telstra Prepaid one with $30 credit for $449. Anyone know whether it comes unlocked?

Works out to be $399 after AMEX $50 rebate http://www.harveynorman.com.au/telstra-pre-paid-iphone-se-32…

Looks like free unlock according to this comment https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/4625151/redir

    • If you log into cashrewards you can get a further $15 off.

      • True, but I had some gift cards to use from previous AMEX promotion https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/273327 so got this really cheap

      • Wait so - buy from HN online via cash rewards using Amex?
        Then claim trs…
        Win!

        • Yes, that's an option too, but worked out better for me using gift cards ~ $300

      • Details for this? Can't find anything on cash rewards site.

      • How you get $15 from cashrewards? I only find Harvey Norman B&E on cashrewards, and they have the SE for $435.53, but not sure if the AMEX $50 rebate is valid there.
        http://www.harveynormanbusiness.com.au/electronics/apple-en/…

        • Yeh dammit just got bitten
No amex cashback on this one. Was awaiting the email but because it's B&E it's not valid

Now trying to cancel the order….

        • @Hoju: Any luck on AMEX $50 rebate?

I mean did HN cancel order?

        • @justcallmeboss:

Yeh thankfully they cancelled it. To confirm, the Cashrewards method of buying the phone won't get you the rebate as B&E is excluded.
So don't anyone else fall into the trap!

        • @Hoju: would've been awesome if the AMEX $50 worked!

    • +1

I bought one last week from HN using $50?amex promo. It is locked to telstra. But you can contact telstra web chat, and get it unlocked for FREE. All done in 10minutes. Easy peasy

      • Can you confirm that you have been successfully credited with $50? AMEX T&Cs state:
Offer excludes the following products: AEG, Apple, Asko, De Dietrich, Elica, Fagor, Falcon, Gaggenau, Miele, Neff & St George.

        • based on previous experience, you should be able to get the AMEX rebate buying these brands, though they are excluded in T&C

        • Yes confirmed

    • +1

The real deal is always in the comments

  • +2

The 32GB SE works out at $426.55 from this deal if you use egiftcards at 5% off via cash rewards and comes with a $50 Optus starter kit.

  • I thought the new SE (the one with the 6s guts) came in 32/128 Gb? Are these old stock?

    • Yes they would be

    • Maybe a mix? I thought the old SE configs where 16/64GB only, not 32GB.

    • +7

      Hi Boodek,

All iPhone SE will come with the '6S guts.' Although the 32/128GB versions was released later than the 16/64GB versions, aside from the capacity, everything else (hardware, design etc) are the same across all versions of the SE. Thanks

  • +1

Not making assumptions either way, but you may want to check what is meant by "aus stock". If the original point of purchase from the official apple dealer is overseas, apple will check this and refuse any claims relying on consumer law (you will prob still get the 12 months they offer as standard).

My gf bought a 5S a while ago from kogan and when we needed the warranty, the original sale came up in the system as tennessee, and the phone was supposedly locked to verizon.

ACL explicitly states the local arm of the manufacturer is not accountable for parallel imports, and you can only approach the seller in such cases.

Then again, these may not be parallel imports. If in doubt, check it out. Or something…

    • +5

Mobileciti only sells AU stock, as stated in OP.

    • +5

      Hi bohdud,

Our bricks and mortar store (and also the location from where we deliver) is in Parramatta NSW, all phones sold at Mobileciti are 100% Australia stock so you'll be covered under local manufacturers warranty.

    • +2

      And TRS ;)

  • Hi OP,
Do you have any good budget phone for around $190.

    • +1

      Lol 😂

    • +4

It's not how big it is…it's what you can do with it.

      • -3

        Sure.. Sure

        • +2

you can hold it in one hand.
You can also do the exact same things as a bigger screen.

      • +2

Stick it in your pocket without hurting when sitting down? Lol

    • +2

Apple has other sizes if you want a different size. The iphone SE and its four inch screen exist because there is a market for it. I suspect the market is bigger than Apple first expected.

      • -4

I suspect such users are better off with Nokia 3310

  • +2

$94 for an extra 32GB, or $140 for an extra 48GB. Yeesh. Imagine how much revenue Apple would lose if they allowed you an SD card. No, more likely it would only allow proprietary cards which only Apple sells. And it will cost more than the internal storage.

  • +1

Looking for iphone 7 128Gb but for TRS purposes, I want the pre-GST price on the invoice to be under $900 (for bringing back in).

The 10% off EOFY10 code from the website reduces the pre-GST price to around 934 which is close but not under $900.

But what will the invoice list for this eBay deal?

IIRC it lists the full price and GST amount because the 15% is somehow paid by eBay and not treated as a discount.

    Is that still the case?

(Yes, I know that it is unlikely to be a problem bringing back something slightly over the allowance, but there's enough stories of rigid Customs officers that I'd like to cross the t's etc)

    • Invoice will be the undiscounted price.

    • How do they even check if you're bringing back the goods? Serious question, I'd like to know.

Are you supposed to declare it upon reentry?

      • +1

Yes, you are supposed to declare it, when you fill out your incoming passenger card, you declare whether or not you're bringing in > $900 worth of goods.

    • If you put a SIM card in it, dispose of the packaging, dispose of your invoice, they won't question you.

      • 99% sure that you are correct.

BUT, they will know that I claimed TRS on the way out, and can pull up all the details if they choose to do a random check, or if some agent decides that he needs one more "catch" to get promoted.

        • Unless you're planning on buying stuff overseas that would make you a target for bringing in goods over the limit, I think you're being overly cautious.
I live in Germany and fly into Australia 1 to 2 times a year (for almost 20 years). We've bought in suitcases of Christmas gifts, not once been questioned on the value of goods.
Just about every person arriving off the plane will have a smartphone. Put it in your pocket, job done.

As much as the agents get a bad wrap… no one is looking for "one more catch", they're just doing their job. They obviously screen luggage and profile people, but that's part of the business.

Don't buy a souvenir samurai sword or butterfly knife while you're away, don't bring back dodgy food or fruit, and fill in your passenger card properly. You'll be fine.

  • Is there a reason why the space grey 16gb is $524.80, whereas all the other colours are $469.00?

    • +1

      More popular

  • +1

With Optus 25% off plus HN $200 eftpos card promotion, you pay $520 for SE 64G($40 *0.75 * 24 - 200) or 640 for 128G in 2 years time, comes with a free 24 month plan.

  • +1

Always wanted to go back to a small form factor smart phone.
shame android are going big but not really competing in the under 5 inch screen size with great specs.

    • Sony xperia still make 5 inch phones

      • +1

Id prefer smaller than 5 inch still fhd and a decent specs all round including battery.
Apples iphones tend to do this well.

  • Just got an iPhone SE 64Gb from Optus, 25% discount friends and family, $40 > $30 a month * 24, including a plan, unlimited calls/SMS 1Gb data.

Great timing as wifey usually tops up prepay for $30.

Pairing up with another Google 4 month free trial, for YouTube red video downloads over WiFi and I'll have a happy 2 year old when on the move.

    Great phone specs and size.

  • thanks TA. Bought the phone. Hope they will still support it by 2021

    • -1

No brand has that long term support

      • hence the hope. Iphone 5s will be losing support soon and its nearly 4 years old. I expect support to end by 2020 but am hoping it lasts an extra year or so.

        • +1

iphone 5s is still support with iOS 11

        • +1

          Quite possibly 5s won't get IOS12 in 2018

        • +1

@wtfnodeal: Unlikely, Apple isn't fragmented af like Android so I wouldn't be surprised to see support until 2020 at least.

        • -1

@justcallmeboss: it's not a matter of being fragmented or not. The phone is old and they aren't selling them anymore. They want you to upgrade to their newer phones.

        • @Ozbargain Lurker: Actually it is. Iphone 5 is still being used by a lot of people. SE will be here to stay, plus it was refreshed last year so it's barely "old"

        • @justcallmeboss: he is talking about 5s not being sold by Apple anymore.

        • @wtfnodeal: going from past experiences the previous versions of iphone had always last the os update for more than 2 years.

        • @Hotkolbas: every year Apple stops supporting IOS upgrade for an iPhone. iPhone 5 is not getting IOS11 in 2017 and which model do you think will not get IOS12 in 2018? The trends is like iPhone 5s won't get IOS12 in 2018, iPhone 6 won't get IOS13 in 2019 and iPhone 6s & SE won't get IOS14 in 2020. So expecting iPhone SE to have support up to 2021 is a bit too much to ask for.

  • +3

Got a 64GB SE from Mobicity in their April $599 deal and very happy with both the seller and the phone. There is just one (temporary) downside with getting old stock if you already have another iPhone - they come with old (pre 10.3) iOS version and file system.
This means that you won't be able to initialize the new phone as a replacement for the old one from the backup (if your old phone runs 10.3+ version with APFS) - iTunes/new phone will give you an error message. I needed to initialize it as a new phone, do the iOS upgrade of the new phone, wipe it/disassociate it from the iTunes account and then could finally provision it as the replacement phone. Not sure if there is an easier way to do it, but it was cumbersome and possibly confusing for many users (not your standard Apple experience).
I upgraded 5S (grey import purchased in EoFY Kogan deal in 2014 for $550), because I was running out of space and the camera developed a dust spot. I was surprised how many tiny improvements there are with SE's overall experience. Love the Live Photos (and create movies from them, regularly), Apple Pay (now rarely bring my wallet anywhere - thanks HSBC) and the fact that the phone wakes up when you pick it up and you can take photos by swiping, without pressing any button. Small improvements that actually make meaningfully different user experience and extend the function of the phone over the 5s.
Finally, while 16GB is not enough for most users, it shows how much more affordable premium smartphones have become, when I compare that 3 years ago, when AUD was ~0.93 US cents, a grey import with same storage (and less features) was $150 more. Realistically, back then 5S was comparable to iPhone 7.
After migrating from Android/Xperia I never looked back as I find the overall life cycle experience and support much better. With iPhone 5S being 64-bit I expect it to be supported for a couple of years. Furthermore, a hand-me-down iPhone 4S is still going strong for less demanding users.
    Highly recommended.

  • Damn, just missed out on this one :(

  • Was going to buy this this morning, but says expired when I put in the code.
Curious how you tell the expiry time, ebay store still says use CRACKER for 15% off for this item and item says offer valid for another 24 hours, I thought that meant the price and the coupon were still available?

    • +2
      • Thanks, looks like I need to hone my ozbargaining skills, didn't realise it was an ebay site wide offer as it only appeared on some of their phones. I might go with the new10% and take the $25 extra hit rather than wait to see what pops up on Wednesday.

  • -1

Just got a SE 16GB for my son from https://au.nd-bd.com/. Refurb but all good. Cost me $359 incl shipping. Space Grey.

    • +1

Unless it is Apple refurbished otherwise for $40 more it is worth it to get a new one IMO
