    • Its got the full amount for me when I check out

      • +1

if you pay using Paypal they take the full amount (a limitation of the Paypal system)

        • Oh, thanks.

        • Thanks for the info , otherwise id have used Paypal

  • Any chance of instore preorder?

    • +1

Yep they are taking in store with pickup.

    • +6

I would suggest if you getting from JB do online.
They will allocate stock to online pre-orders before giving store any stock. (i got burned once)

      • Thanks for the advise. I guess saving $6.95 is not worth it in this situation then :P

  • To save on delivery costs, wouldn't EB Games pick up from store be cheaper?

    • +5

      Yes.

  • +2

Why not just get this from EB? Won't need to pay the extra $6.95 for delivery. Unless Big W or Target get it for $99 and only if it's in stock. EB the better option.

    • +1

Given the likely hood of stock limitations i doubt you will see it below the RRP

    • gave the option for that very reason for some people the delivery cost is negligible (fuel, public transport, parking)

I can get it delivered to work so i don't have to make a special trip or make sure i'm home for the delivery.

After seeing the full line up at E3 with every unit as a mini and Nintendo knowing the extent of the crap from last year looks like they may be trying to make amends and keep the money in their pockets not the scalpers.

      • Fair point, if you don't live near EB, then this is good.

Scalpers will waste their time with this, Nintendo will make a lot of this one!

I'm hoping they re-release the NES Mini.

        • looks like last lot actually went a month or so ago and even then EB only got 2 per store

But we are feeding them most comments were i'd prefer SNES so they gave what was requested

there was also a genesis there too

  • +1

Debating buying one of these or just saving up for a Switch…my 5 yr old would love this! EDIT - does anyone have a suggested cheap controller similar to this that can be used with a retropie setup for emulation instead?

    • +17

Don't debate, buy both. Life is too short ;)

      • +6

        Live is too short ;)

Not if you were alive in the early 90s and enjoyed the original SNES.. then you could argue life is actually quite long… for these games, that is.

    • -1

this, games on switch are expensiiiiiive.

      • +3

The Switch online service will include access to old Nintendo games and will cost ~$20 a year.

If you really want these SNES games you can emulate them on basically anything nowadays. Switch games you can't emulate yet.

I see the collectable appeal of the mini NES and SNES, but as practical games machines you're better off emulating the games and buying some cheap USB SNES controllers.

    • got all of them and in all honesty my 3 yr old who desperately wants to play any of them has the preference of the switch

Especially Mario Kart 8 i've got to pry it away from him hogging it.

there are some aids nintendo use for some games to help out so seems to pick up on things much quicker on the switch

  • Woo… I like it when I was a kid

  • +4

    Here we go again.

    • +1

      lol

  • +3

It's not a great deal. It's just a stock alert in anticipation of a sellout.

It's cheaper through ebgames as in store pickup. JB do not offer store pickup. It's also cheaper delivery through ebgames as their delivery is cheaper. It's also currently in stock at ebgames.

    • Wow it's in stock even though it's coming out in September? The future is here!

      • It's like Spaceballs come true. Stock is here before the stock is actually produced!
        When will then be now?

    • It's not instock at EB Games lol.

      • -7
        • Lol, doesn't mean it's in stock right now :) " Release Date: Sat, 30 Sep 2017 "

You can also add it to the cart with JB but it's also got " Release Date: Sat, 30 Sep 2017 "

          :)

        • -1

          @grimace3:

It has availability, where as soon it will not.

          :)

        • +2

@grimace3: Of course it's not in stock. It will be released in Sep. It's a pre-order item!

        • +1

@cloudzhou: Who would have guessed! " Release Date: Sat, 30 Sep 2017 " - It's not in stock right now, it's a pre-order for stock to arrive later. People should brush up on what "in stock" really means.

    • -2

The deal is in the eye of the beholder. The two "deals" have accumulated 291 positive votes, you're just being obstinate.

      • +2

The product is currently available elsewhere for a cheaper price. This is not currently a deal.

    • +2

Last comment, JB Ship through Toll and Toll sent the Mini NES in a bag (as opposed to a box like EB). If you are buying this to sit nice and minty on your shelf, don't be surprised if it comes with it's corners pressed in due to inadequate packing.

      • +1

Agreed.. I bought the best classic to play but have in mint condition.

The JB Hifi purchase was a mistake since it came in a paper satchel so the nes box got squashed corners as a result.

    • +1

Well I do not like dealing with EB games. JB is a far better retailer for a number of reasons. As for postage, cost $6.95 for delivery. Saves me having to get in the car drive down to the local shopping centre (one of my most hated places on earth). Get parking, stand around while they look for my order then come home. For $7 the convenience of it just arriving at my door and saving me an hour is well worth it.

    • Appreciate it Cubist you hit the nail on the head

looking at the numbers I'd be surprised if EB could fulfil a fraction of total volume to their site today.

  • Do you have to fork out the full amount now?

    • No.

      • but online it says $125 (inc shipping)

        • +1

Read the popup box when you click secure checkout; "Payment information: Credit Card: we will take a $1.00 card pre-authorisation but full payment will not be taken from your card until the item is dispatched to you. If the price drops before release date you will be charged the lower price."

        • @CLoSeR:

          Thanks saw now

  • +12

This is not a deal, sorry. EB Games are actually cheaper including delivery (never thought I'd hear myself say that).

    JB: $119 + $6.95 min delivery = $125.95
EB: $119.95 pickup or $124.95 delivered.

    • +4

Hold the phone! a whole $1! haha Of course we're bargain hunters. But personally I much prefer shopping at JB, been burned by EB a few to many times. And my local is separate from the shopping centre complex, while EB is deep in the inside the centre. And Saving on pick up isnt possible because shopping centres close before I get home from work. So I could either pay for delivery or wait for the weekend to pick up.

      • +7

Delivery wise, I'd say JB is inferior.

They used Toll who (in the case of Perth) will take to the domestic airport if you were not at home when the item was delivered. EB Ship through Australia Post who will drop the item off at your local post office if you are not available at the time the product is delivered.

JB Also ship boxes (like the Mini-NES) in a bubblewrap sleeve, whereas EB will use a solid box, with air filled bags to stop the product being damaged. Really only matters if you are keeping it for collecting purposes though.

Edit: Geez people, disagree with your words!
Edit 2: Looks like JB have moved to Aus Post.
When will I get my order? Unless specified above, your online pre-order will leave our Vic warehouse via Australia Post one business day prior to the official release date. Please allow standard delivery times on top of this.

        • +3

EB have stung me too many times with insufficient stock.

        • +1

Yeah wow. Negs for preferring one retailer over another and delivery because I work late and cant pickup unless its a weekend…

Another thing to consider is JB is really good for price matching. So I have alot of confidence if prices do fall JB will honor a lower price. EB in my experience hasnt been as reliable.

        • @Joyoz: Which pre-order did you experience that issue with? I've never had a pre-order cancelled through them.

        • +4

          @Cubist:
My last preorder from JB was a signed album that i never got delivered (and was to my po box) and they provided no assistance, so maybe i have some bias but go from EB

        • +1

          @Cubist:
Not a preorder but troubles with 2 past orders.

        • @Joyoz: If it's pre-owned, I feel your pain. I don't order pre-owned online anymore.

        • @Godric: I have had this issue twice buying albums on vinyl from JB. Take the full amount for pre-order and weeks after release, nothing. The second time I went in store and supposedly they never ended up stocking the item…

        • @Cubist:

Were all new items. The store cancelled my entire order in less than 3 minutes and there was no way they checked they had any in stock. No one would get back to me and I left to cancel and refund myself via their site. I was told they had the right to cancel any order. I ordered 24 items on sale.

        • @Joyoz: Think I know what the issue was with that one. When they moved to selling items online from stores, if you ordered 24 items, there was a chance you could be ordering 1 item from 24 individual stores. If one store didn't have 1 items, they would cancel the entire order. It was a pain in the arse and poorly communicated. I don't blame you for feeling burned. I think I ordered around $1200 worth of items and had $800 refunded back to me.

        • @Cubist:
I checked every item was available in the said store as I was travelling to that store to collect. Spent a great deal of time as they were for a family who could not buy many christmas presents so I checked the stock for each item. The items were still advertised available on their site weeks later as well for the same store.

        • @Joyoz: Must have been one item that caused the rest of the items to be cancelled. I've had this before where staff members fail to remove items I know are out of Stock, even after telling them face to face. One store I went to on a day off couldn't find an item and apologised. They didn't bother to remove it from their systems for over a week.

        • @Godric: Did you sign for it? lol

    • +2

I agree that these NES posts arent 'deals', but $1 for lower price guarantee is good, prefer JB any day of the week.

    • none of them are deals all notifications all rrp

Stated at the top of page.

We could say nothing about something highly sought after and listen to the moans later once they appear for double triple or more on ebay amazon and gumtree.

    • and with the massive amount of money you save you can score a coffee from 7/11 while you wait for the postman! Or two ice cream cones from McDonalds!

    • Agreed

  • +2

    Not the cheapest available.

  • Same feel as old snes? NOPE, old snes was made in Japanese and these are from china inferior quality not comparable.

    • You didn't also notice they are completely different sizes, hardware and games?
      (lol j/k)

    • +4

      Lol.

"china" doesn't specify the quality of products, the company putting the order in does. Manufactures in China produce the item to the specifications you tell them too, at any cost you're happy to pay. If you have issues, it's with Nintendo actually.

  • +3

Not the cheapest available, even if we're playing OzRRP.

  • -2

Sold out. Lucky EB still had availability.

  • they will intentionally under stock them again to create a buzz for nintendo. more people talking about how impossible these are to buy the more people talk about nintendo. Then brand awareness for consoles like Nintendo switch will increase leading to more sales. These mini consoles are one genius marketing strategy to sell other consoles and we are all just one big mouth piece for nintendo. the more this is sold at full price on day one the more nintendo will intentionally under stock this making it harder for everyone else to buy. Not to mention the inevitable ebay sellers

    • Taking a leaf out of the Apple sales model.

    • Lol, reality is they doesn't have the level of resources other companies do, nor proper stock demand calculating, for each product. They are terrible at it, underestimating with one and overestimating with another.

Things like Nes mini were initially a novelty product for a holiday season, which they made a few more for. They also financially lose money if they overstock on retail shelves, if they poorly overcalculate how many are wanted.

They can only make X amount for each product as well, without straining their ability to make other devices. They have multiple lines of systems which they expect to sells millions of, let alone without having to deal with one of these. This product alone could cause some oversaturation given the circumstances, especially when they're pushing the Switch and a bunch of 3ds revisions. Eventually they'll probably do more Nes mini but the company spread themselves too thin as is.

    • +1

That's okay with me because the switch is an amazing console and Nintendo deserve success.

  • Walked into local jb hi fi at lunch time and placed pre order - no probs.

    • Do you pay a dollar and they hold one for you? Not sure how instore works.

      • +1

        I just put $10 down.

  • does anyone actually play with this console? or just a decor?

all these games can be played on the PC already

    • It'd be great for my 6 year old who I'm not about to give unsupervised access to my PC.

      • get a retropie kit instead

        • The retropie kits from Australian vendors are a comparable price.

While I appreciate they may offer greater flexibility, and I may get one in future, there is a benefit in getting something that should work out the box with legal ROMs

    • Think I will recycle one of my raspberry pi's …..will do all the games and more and if I'm sick of it can use the pi for something else …..

  • +2

    Purchase from EB friends.

  • No deal. Go to EB for best price

    • Positive vote

      "No deal…"

      You seem conflicted :p

      • Realised that lol

        • Revoke the vote then.

  • Thanks op!

  • or you could buy the real thing from ebay today http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Super-Nintendo-with-all-cords-and…

    :)

    • +1

Missing a ton of games that this comes with. Plus it says damaged.

  • If you are an AGL customer, you could get JB Hifi giftcards to get it marginally cheaper.

  • +1

Just because it isn't the "cheapest" doesn't mean it's not a good deal. Some people might have JB vouchers they want to use, not to mention, can't you go in store and pre-order? I have done this a bunch of times for new releases.

  • +1

    In the future $99 @COTD.

  • -3

Out of stock buds went in store today what's this

  • Wish they added DKC 2 as well cause it was one of the best games on the console

    • +2

      They should've add DKC 1,2 & 3!

For variety add 'Shooting Macross' and 'R-Type III: The Third Lightning' !!!

      • They can't add DKC. Would require licensing from Rare who are owned by Microsoft.

Everyone keeps talking about a mini N64, but finding 20 decent games on the 64 when you omit Rare titles is a tough task.

        • Isn't DKC on there? Swear it was on the list.
