Thanks to TA for the original post. Fair bit cheaper than the $441 from Addicted to Audio post but keep in mind these will probably be grey stock.

Would buy if it was yellow stock

Red Symon was recently in trouble about the comments he made to an Asian guest about Asians being yellow. Most likely the stock is in Asia, therefore, yellow. You can go ahead and buy one.

  • good headphone

  • Just a heads up, these can't be used for gaming as you can't use the wireless stereo and mic at the same time :'( Great headphones but I'm sadly selling mine because of that…

    • Buy a standing mic? They're like $30 from Chinese sellers.

      • Nah, I like to have the least amount of stuff on my desk possible.

    • That seems like terrible design

The golden question - how are these compared to the QC35?

    • Every review I read claimed the Sonys as the better pair of headphones. Better build quality, more feature rich noise cancelling and more natural sounding soundstage apparently. Also, from what I've heard the QC35s are absolute trash when unpowered. Sonys aren't actually that bad apparently.

Of course I haven't tried them out yet but will report back when my set arrive.

      • I'd be wary about comparing build quality https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/309028

The qc35s are inferior in sound quality, however the build quality is solid + they are very light.

        • Woah, thanks for the heads up. Hope mine don't have this issue.

        • @PrimalNuke: No worries, the issue doesn't seem to be too common so you'll probably be fine.

  • Code expired according to TA

  • I was lucky enough to win a pair of these. I personally don't think they are worth their $700 price tag but if you can get them at a price like this, they are well worth it! You get way mire functionality with these headphones and one thing that people dont know about the QC35 is that you can't use them with a wireless connection with noise cancelling disabled (which wouldnt bother some people). Personally i believe the sound quality is better than the bose but again, its more personal preference.

  • i'm now too afraid to open ozbargain,
i saw these headphone for the amaging price of 488 and pulled the plug and bought it.
next time i check ozbargain, same headphone for 444,
    now it's less than 400.

    buyer remorse much?

    • Dennis, if yours is not grey stock, maybe you can justify the extra spend due to the local warranty you get.

      • Given the issues mentioned above with the headband cracking, you might actually need the local warranty.

I swore myself off sony since a bad run with a sports Walkman (big ugly yellow cassette players for the uninitiated) when I was a kid, decide to take another punt with PS3, of course the boards go bad due to leadless solder joints.
And again with these cans, and burned yet again.

Sony is nothing but fail in my books, always a shitty experience since I can remember.

        • I've never had a Sony device break on me except a PS2 which was mod chipped. So I guess if we're all going to go by personal anecdotal experience on a small scale, Sony products must be unbreakable.
