  • Great, I got a couple of 64gb ones. Paid in usd, I wonder if that's cheaper than in aud…

    • Oh yeah forgot to add that this was selected as USD thanks

  • +1

This has been posted before at the same USD price which appears to have remained unchanged since April, so I suppose it's the normal price.

    • Oh that was expired so i thought it was over. still decent value I guess

      • Yeah, it seems like hardly any Aussie retailers even have this card, and those that list it, have it for more.

        • +1

It's Amazon exclusive. And a rebranding of Evo+ gen 2.

        • @lostn:

… and its glorious … great price, great performance ….

Interesting to see what the price will be like once Amazon launch in Australia and/if they start selling them locally.

        • +1

@digitalaxon: I know. I've purchased 2 of them before. One is a spare.

I doubt local prices will match current US prices. Because of aussie tax.

        • @lostn:
It depends on how they structure themselves in Australia. It may be more profitable to become a proxy seller like Kogan whose more lucrative deals are sold by an offshore (Hong Kong) sister company.

        • @AlexF: That HK sister company is going to be required to collect GST next year, so the savings will be lost.

Kogan is going to struggle. Their prices are about 15-20% cheaper, and that's without GST. After GST gets added next year, the saving will be very small. And you will give up local warranty, and get 12 months overseas warranty instead of 24 local. There will be very little reason to buy from Kogan after that. Kogan is going to lose a lot of market share, and if they were publicly traded, their share prices would sink.

That's not a model Amazon can adopt. They operate on razor thin margins as is, and will have to pay higher wages and taxes when they open up here. The prices can't match the US prices unless our dollar falls and it becomes very expensive to import.

    • I bought this during the sale back in April. At some point in May/June I did check on Amazon again and price did go back up to $99. So a deal for sure.

Usually ships within 1 to 2 months?
    Usually?
    You gotta be joking

    • Usually ships within 1 to 2 months?

It means they don't have an ETA for new stocks.

      You gotta be joking

It'll ship within days or a week at the most.

  • how the warranty covered if something happens?

    • how the warranty covered if something happens?

Contact Samsung, if no luck contact Amazon. This card will cost cents to return as it can be sent as a letter.

If you're not prepared to take some risk just buy locally for double the price.

    • +1

Contact amazon first. They are good with returns. They'll send you a replacement before you even send it back. They'll give you return labels and credit you the postage up to a certain amount, which should be low for an SD card.

But beyond a certain period, it's between you and the OEM.

  • 128GB sold out

  • Still available at that price but you need to wait longer for delivery.

    • yup! still available with an approximate 1 month wait time.

      Just bought one! Thanks OP!

  • This may be a dumb question but the 128gb is ok for a smartphone?

    • It depends how many contacts you have on your smartphone. If you try adding addresses for your contacts in addition to numbers and names, then you'd need something around 128 GB. It's worse if you have Greek and/or Indian contacts because their names are usually longer and take up more storage.

      • -1

Yup, contacts and associated data is a real data hog - especially if phone collects everything communicated with those contacts.

        • -1

          We're talking d pics, aren't we?

        • @kahn: And Sunny Leone.

  • So does anyone have areal answer to this question?

    • +2

Obviously it depends on how you use it. If you're shooting a lot of raw 4K video, it won't last long.

Manage it wisely and it's plenty.

      • Thanks lostn

    • +1

Depending on your phone, it might not take 128GB (my V20 is limited to 256…) but I've never seen this be an issue.

  • I have ordered 2 * 128 gb. I have question. Does it (with sd card adapter) work on sony a6500,which use sd card? If it is not working on it, I need to cancel it. I will wait for ebay 20% off deals.

  • +1

Seems like it's back in stock now. Seriously considering of buying this but I'm just wondering speed-wise, is it an overkill to use this for S7 Edge?

    • well its only about $10 than the standard evo equivalent but the write speed is 4x faster i'd get it

      • Good point. I'll pull the trigger then. Never ordered from Amazon before. Any idea how long shipping usually takes?

    • Now in stock us$49.99 = $63.10

      • Odd. I'm still seeing it as US$44.99?

        • +1

My typo when entering for conversion - you're correct.
          US$44.99 = $56.88
(I have us$10 promotion & other credit to use, so paying less.)

I got one of these on the last special and it's fantastic. I'm running it in my S8+ and 4k recording is great. It took about 2 weeks to get to me, I'm in Brissie.

  • Back in stock again

  • will the 128gb one work in a pi3?

    • the evo plus, pro 16, 32, 64 ,128 GB cards work don't see why the select model shouldn't

  • Cheers. Bought some.

  • Is this overkill for a nitnendo switch?

    • theoretically no, you should have faster save/load times than a standard microSD.
that is depending on the max speed the Switch can utilize from SD cards.

  • So I just tested mine with H2testw. getting read and write speeds of 27-28 mbytes/sec. This is from a USB 2.0 port but I feel as though this is stil pretty slow seeing how the theoretically max speed should be 60 Mbytes/sec

EDIT: NVM. Fake card reader was bottleneck. Was getting 60Mb/sec rite and 80 read on USB 2.0. All is good.

  • +1

    Order 1 today

  • +1

    Now US$36.99 plus shipping

  • any issues with using this on the switch? ( i would assume not, but i am a noob )

  • Great deal!
