Canvas is probably more durable than the stuff they use in shoes.
My brand name runners always fall to bits after a few months, don't buy expensive shoes anymore because they aren't worth it.
My $29 Rivers runners are more durable than my $200 New Balance and Nike.

Saw a dude yesterday at Bunnings wearing those shoes with the rollers on them, he was in his late 20s.
