    Any deals on spare parts?

    • +7

We have very limit parts available at this moment. Once we have many stocks, we will start a deal for the spare parts.

      • +1

        Great, sounds good! Thankyou

    • How often would the spare parts be needed? Sounds like it's a must have buy so I'd factor the price of those too.

      • +1

These are the recommended times to change the parts.

        Filter every 150 hours
        Side brush every 200 hours
        Main brush every 300 hours

The app keeps a track of how many hours and % you have used it, you can also reset the counts without actually changing the parts if you wish.

    • have you tried toilet paper on the filter trick?

      • ive got one on the way, more info ?

        • +1

Amazon comment and photo here. See ruriruri's comment below.

I use 2ply. You can carefully separate into 1ply if worried about suction. To me it sucked up the same amount of dust even with 2ply toilet paper.

    Filter is still brand new.

  • anybody compared this to the Neato? I had the Neato XV-21 and was reasonably happy with it. I'm guessing you get what you pay for?

    • I don't have a Neato, but looking at specs -
Due to design, Neato can get into corners.
But Neato has old-tech Ni-MH battery, and no wifi/cloud/app usage.

      • Good point re the batteries. I had to replace them every few months.

        • Good point re the batteries. I had to replace them every few months.

The batteries are rechargeable and last years. Why would you replace them every few months?

        • @Maverick-au: No, they did not last years. Maybe you got lucky. Used once a day the batteries lost at least 35% of capacity after 4-6 months. For me, this means a replacement is due. This is a known concern with the Neato's.

Are you buying aftermarket batteries or genuine? I never had a problem with my batteries and sold it with them still working like new.

Why not put lithium batteries in?

        • @Maverick-au: Lithium would perhaps have helped (it's long gone now). I was using supposed OEM Neato batteries off of ebay, but who knows if they were.

I think most of the eBay ones were poorly put together, I planned to get the lithium packs if mine started failing but jumped on one of these to replace the whole unit instead. Was almost a no cost upgrade as the Neato kept it's value.

        • @Maverick-au: oh - and does it stack up against the neato? The neato does look as if it would get to corners better?

        • +1

Batteries definitely need replacing at least yearly. Obviously depends how large an area you are doing at a time, but it's easy to see the range reduce over time. Didn't find any difference between originals and those off amazon/ebay.

I've had a XV-11 and now a couple of Botvacs. I asked how this compared recently, and it seems to be pretty favorable, with the xiaomi obviously a lot cheaper. If these were around earlier, definitely would have gone for one of these.

        • +2

Have the Botvac 85. The Ni-MH battery is dead after 1.5 years and only once a fortnight vacuum. Got extended warranty but discovered it doesn't cover the battery when I rang up recently.

Anyone have a link for the lithium battery pack for the Botvac 85?

        • +3

          @BellaWii:

Another one fell for extended warranties, free money for the salesman.

        • +1

@ninetyNineCents: Good news, decided to send my Neato to the repairer as part of warranty claim, circuit board was damaged so they offered me a Roomba or $600. Planning to get 2 Xiaomi mi robots :)

    • +1

Bought this the last time deal was on. Very happy with the purchase! It's an awesome little machine. Not sure about Neato though, never had one.

    • I have the botvac connect and my parents have the xiaomi. Almost identical to be honest. Botvac handles the corners better but sabe the $$$ and get xiaomi I reckon.

    • I've had a Neato XV and its an unreliable heap of crap. Battery problems, charger failure, lidar belt failure, an so on. Ugh.

I've had the Xiaomi for a few days and its much nicer, even if the brush isn't as wide the flicker gets stuff out of the corners properly unlike the XV.

Who do you think woukd be interested in your house plans aside from the police if they're going to kick your door in. If you have a meth lab or bomb making facility I wouldn't be using this.

      • Well… no, but it's just invasive. You don't need to be doing anything wrong to feel violated.

The Chinese are not going to break in to your house in the middle of the night and have their way with you.

Did you know that on real estate websites floor plans are available? Also photos of the layout of properties.

That councils have plans for many properties available?

That developers have plans on their website for all the mass built houses?

I'm guessing at this point you've feeling violated every which way. There are counselling services that can help you. Good luck.

Your first colonoscopy is going to be a real eye opener.

There's a massive humanitarian crisis in Syria, ISIS have destroyed large parts of Iraq, etc, and people are seriously so engaged with their own navels that they're worried about a vacuum stealing their floorplans?

We live in a world gone mad.

@Tony76: Fine. Had a chat with some friends. They said I was being paranoid. Other words were used too. They also had some choice words about the commenters here. I'm okay with it now.

        • @flaminglemon: Hahahaha what did they say about the commenters here?!

And syrians and iraqis still havent learnt their lesson, that religion is a sure guarantee to turn your country into a shithole, always has always will.

    • +4

I believe they share it amongst themselves, assessing the correct order and magnitude of raids that will provide the optimal uprising. They have two hurdles (apart from hurdles themselves): Front doors and stairs. These obstacles are our last hope.

Still waiting for Roboguys unit and paid $400. Not a happy camper I tell you.

    • +20

Have you tried installing mihome on your phone and selecting the find me button?

    • +1

Same, it is a learning experience for most who bought from Roboguy.

      • Quite expensive lesson as well…

        • Not in $ terms but certainly in waiting time.

    • +1

Heard Roboguy is having a Father's special soon… Stay tune for one of his upcoming epic deal!

  • Thanks. Finally bought one after seeing so many positive reviews from ozb.

  • Anyone know how these go with dog hair? Our dog has quite long hair and sheds, the dyson V6 brush gets tangled with hair.

  • +4

Guys I have started a discussion group re: this vac to try and centralise everything.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/321496

Perhaps try and add to it and i'll update accordingly.

  • How does the warranty work?
Do we just send it down to melb?

    • +10

If you have any problems that can not fix by yourself by trouble shooting. We will send pre-paid return label to send back. We will fix or replace.

      • +1

I'm about 3 hours away from cancelling my other purchase and ordering from you, good to know about the warranty.

  • +3

Just got ours from Gearbite, shipped on time and received as expected. I was eagerly awaiting our as we had a LG Roboking that was on the way out. OzBargain had many good reviews for it and we're not disappointed! The smart capabilities of this vacuum blew me away!

Compared to the Roboking, this actually maps out the house and methodically cleans sections of the house, whereas the Roboking seemed to just go wherever. The Roboking had issues going over our rug with long tassels, the Xiaomi didn't seem too, it took longer over the rug, but the brush didn't get tangled up. The Xiaomi took longer to clean the same floorplan but did a much better job of getting into every nook and cranny.

The MiHome app is great! Make sure you select Mainland China for the locale rather than US, otherwise you don't get the options to pair the robot to your phone. Once setup, it's actually amazing to see how it maps the house and see its progress. You can also control the suction power/noise from the app.

Watching many reviews and comparisons, the Xiaomi beat competitor vacuums in almost all aspects, at 1/4 of the price of some others.

    • What does pairing the robot to your phone do?

      • Robotic distance love?

      • It gives you the extra data and options. You can set your vac to clean anywhere with an internet connection and see a map of where it is and what it's doing. Change the suction power and Dock it.

        • +2

Yeah I just realised I was already paired, I'm on the US region.

I use a VPN to access mine though, I don't want the hackers to secretly clean my house while I'm at work… haha.

    • Mine paired fine using US servers.

That said, I've switched back to the Mainland China server because firmware updates are released there first.

Pairing the vacuum to the phone lets you see the mapping and progress of your vacuum, plus also keeps track of maintenance items so you know when you should be changing the spares.

      • Ah ok I had no problems with US servers and pairing.

Are there any china firmware updates that US doesn't have right now?

        • I'm on 3.3.9_003077. What are you on with the US server?

        • Interesting.
I chose the singapore server since i thought it would be the fastest to Aus.

          My version is 3.3.6_003061

        • I'm on 3.3.6_003062

I wonder what new features you have.

        • +1

          @samfisher5986:

          Changelog says
          - enhanced wifi stability
          - cancelled voice notification when in DND mode
          - fixed issue with start up time of scheduled cleanup is incorrect when NTP synchronisation failed
          - fixed incorrect fan speed issue during scheduled cleanup
          - optimised the behaviour after driving wheels are suspended in special situation
          - fixed issue that bumper does not work in special situation

    • How long did the LG one last.?
Normal vans last just about for ever, do these robot ones only last a couple of years?

      • We had ours for 4 or so years, granted we never changed the filter… the issue we started having was the wheels were starting to scratch the floorboards, on top of that the vac started just spinning in a circle, so combine those 2 issues and we have a nice circle scratched into our floorboards… :)

  • Just got ours from last deal and am thoroughly impressed with the machine! Whilst I suspect no substitute for a proper vacuum it'll do a great job of maintaining our house when at work and means any serious vacuuming can be done much less. Does a great job of pet hair too!

    • Got mine last deal too. Very impressed! Did a 4br 2bath house in 2 hours!

      • Danggggg. Mines lazy. 2 hours for a 2 bedder! Needs some more practice haha

  • +1

I'm in no real rush to buy this but how long do you guys think it would take to reach $300? Are there any plans or is it likely for them release a 2nd iteration next year?

    • +1

Same. $300 is my threshold at the moment.

    • +10

Pay the extra $60. You will not be disappointed

      • +1

I get what you are saying.. May be I will pull the trigger, just that eBay has taken a lot from me these past days. thx.

    • By the time its $300 you will kick yourself for waiting that long.

    • The timesaving our old one gave us, it was a no brainer to pay half the price for this one when the other gave up. We have a dog that sheds a fair amount of fine short hair, we never need to vacuum our downstairs area thanks to this vacuum.

    • I was thinking the same for the last deal but ended up getting it. Glad I did, it works really well and by the time it dies will have saved me probably hundreds of hours of labour (or horribly scratched floors from being too lazy to vacuum regularly enough)

      • lol… I have hardwood floors as well; does it really put any scratches?

        • No, I meant scratches from dirt and other mess.

        • @kbw: oh I get it. thx

    • +1

I dont know why someone would neg you, I positt'ed it (that's should be a word)

    • +1

They'll probably release a newer better vacuum by the time the price goes down to $300. Then you'll be saying " why would I spend Money on old tech?"

  • +1

Just purchased for our new house, thanks OP

  • +1

Hi OP, would you ship it to NZ ?

  • Hmm Daja vu anyone ?

  • Bought mine a month ago. Love it. Does a great job. Only problem that I have it can't pair as it keeps timing out. Doesn't effect functionality, however I have to guess at Mandarin….

    • Set region to Mainland China in app. Resolved those issues normally.

  • Great product.
Neg vote is is related to personal past recent experience with this exact vendor, product and price.

Same product/price was offered by the same vendor here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/319788
    (multiple comments on that post)

At that time the vendor did NOT ship within 24 hours, the product was NOT delivered within the Ebay delivery time, and they do NOT reply within 24hours after an Ebay/PayPal dispute is raised. Recent Ebay feedback indicates suggests multiple customers with same issue.

When less than satisfactory Ebay feedback is left, the vendor will attempt bribes of 10% and then or 20% discounts on future Ebay purchase (might be useful for frugal OzBarganier's to note).

This is not a vendor I'd want to deal with when you can find the same product at virtually the same price elsewhere.

    • Unfortunate personal experience. There's always good and bad cases with each company.

My personal experience, I was pretty impressed with the speed of my delivery.

As for the product, I haven't given it a huge run yet. So far it's been ok. It's struggled with my breakfast bar chair, rolled up the base and got stuck. Stuck on a rag I forgot to pick up off the ground. Got to really make sure it can't get caught anywhere. It would be great if you could set a virtual barrier of where it can go.

      • I thought you can cordon off areas with a magnetic strip on the ground for this vacuum?

    • Best vendor/seller I have dealt with. Highly recommended.

    • Not sure what you are referring to but I have had very good experience so far. Had a price difference/correction issue and it was sorted out within minutes. Worth giving 5 stars. I even recommended them to my friends and they also have bought from this store.

    • was it click and collect? I find Auspost always drag their feet with click and collect. Mine took 7 days…but heck at least it wasn't 4.5 months…
