I miss my 350z, family and responsibilities = family car now.

      • +1

You had to make the hard choice. Maybe find one a few years down the line and restore it with the kids?

        • Sounds like a plan! Oh dad! A car with wheels? And you have to drive with your hands???

  • +3

Dropping 50k, unless you've got plenty of disposable income, is probably a shitty financial decision, and I am sure most OzB peeps aren't that bad with their financial choices…

Any way I can pay for this with 5% off Woolies gift cards?

Nissan and Mitsubishi appear to be stuck in 2008

    • Nissan Australia you mean?

      • Mitsubishi hasn't released anything sporty since the Evo X

        • Yea and the EVO X wasn't really that sporty at all…..

But what I mean is that Nissan Japan have some great "sports cars" - I mean they are still making the Skyline….

        • +1

          @OnlinePred:

Expensive Gran Tourers like the Skyline aren't really a sports car, nor would they sell in any reasonable numbers. Let's face it, expensive Nissans/Infinities aren't great cars for the money.

Nissan needs to release a replacement for the 200SX/Silvia.

10-15 years ago all the Japanese were releasing Turbo sports cars and Euros were all NA.

Fast forward today and it's the opposite, at least Subaru have stuck with the WRX.

        • @JB1: 100% agree about the 200sx. Although the current skylines are really nice (having been in the latest while in Japan), they are basically the new 370z's with a back seat - and quicker.

Subaru hasn't done us any favours by sticking with the WRX, the best thin they have done is partner with Toyota. WRX is not what it used to be at all, and is far from being a sports car.

        • @OnlinePred:

I must admit, I know nothing about the current Skyline coupe, except they are 4 seater 370z. How come they are quicker?

They have always been more GTs than sport scars.

        • +1

@JB1: jap version sport cars have higher specs in term of performance than Au version.
I meant same make n model jap version has higher power output etc

        • @JB1: Skyline 370 series top of the line: 268 kW; 359 hp

        • @JB1: "Nissan needs to release a replacement for the 200SX."

But they are yet to manage a replacement for the 120Y, or even the car that catapaulted them into the global auto market, the 1600!

    • Nissan Aus have culled most of there cars atm, mainly sell 4x4 now. Micra, Pulsar and Altima are all dead.

      • Probably trying to transition into Infinity and fly one flag. Not a bad idea if they can get market share, considering the sales growth of the Germans.

I bought a new 370z about a year ago for 56k and can really recommend it. I've driven a few nice cars in my time but the Z is the car that puts the biggest smile on my face.

Obviously it's a niche market, but if you have the cash to spare and don't require space it's pretty good bang for your buck. I remember when I bought my car there was a guy that literally purchased the same car 20 minutes before me however he had to take out finance on it. 6 months later when I took my car in for service his car was back on the lot waiting to be resold. Don't take out finance, don't be that guy…

    • Does your car turn heads? I'm looking for a chick magnet.

I sat in one back in 2010 at a Nissan dealer, and found it very cramped inside (I'm 186cm). I currently have a Mustang, which has tonnes of space by comparison.

Well OK but don't crash your 2 Star Crash Safety Rating Mustang

      pity its ugly though.

    • You'll be waiting a long time unless you have a deposit in. Or hitting our shores till 2019 Tesla time if you have a deposit. So probably mid 2020 for non deposit holders in reality.

what is this bullshittery - swear it must be made by Nintendo

at least do a search for actual bargains with the new RRP

The one you posted is a MY16-17 model (the one in the ad is the MY18) and is technically not new since it has 21km on the odometer and is soaked in rain as per the photos.

      • the one in the ad is a MY17 - the MY18 hasn't been released yet

kms on a new car is normal - if the car has never been registered, it is still considered new

        • Once a car is registered it's not new. And almost in all cases factory warranty starts from the first registration date.

Although I do agree with your comment about delivery KM, Anywhere from 10-25 KM is quite normal for "new" car delivery.

        • Are you sure about the model in your link being the same as the one in the ad?

        • @BlinkyBill: The car in the carsales ad doesn't seem to be registered, so it can be considered new.

    • theres always one.

Looks like dealer reduced price because of the Nissan price drops

      • Not really.

New 370z have been available for $50k drive away for the past few years.

news flash at 11 - car dealer passes on savings to customers and continues to sell car below RRP to get business

that was one example of many

Just be aware the resale isn't great, my mother in law just sold hers as shes now got a GT Mustang, it was 3yrs old and less than 60,000kms on it and they finally accepted an offer for 32k, I'm sure they would have paid closer to 60k for it when they bought it new as an auto coupe. It also had a few extras like aftermarket wheels and an exhaust.

So just be aware the 3yr resale on these now is likely to be about 25k.

My 2c is if your willing to spend 55k drive away for a 370z at this stage, they are getting fairly long in the tooth, cough up a bit more and get the 2018 GT Mustang, heaps more power/torque, 0-100 in sub 4.0s, 10 speed auto. That's just my thoughts though, i know some Z buyers would never consider an american mustang, just as some mustang buyers would never consider a Z.

      Sub 4 0-100km? lol

      • Sub 4sec 0-100km/h, you know what I mean.

        • +2

Yeah I understand what you are saying, but there is no way it's a sub 4 sec 0-100km car.

        • +1

@JB1: not even close. Maybe half 5s.

        • +3

@brad1601: Sounds like a load of BS to me. I'll wait till someone releases non-Motor Trend numbers. And 0-60mph is not 0-100kmh. If it was capable of 0-60mph in 3.9, it would be more like 4.2/3 to 100kmh. I'm betting with this launch control, most magazines will still be numbering it in the high 4's to 100kmh. Apart from Motor Trend, they will get 2.9. Because bullshit sells magazines. And cars.

        • +1

          @Burnertoasty: its 2mph different

        • @Burnertoasty:

Yeah 0-60 and 0-100km/h are pretty interchangeable, maybe .1sec difference.

The numbers are straight from ford, plenty of places reporting it not just one place, don't be butt hurt.

Yes of course it's with launch control, don't see how that effects it, it's just a button to press.

        • @Jahaddow: yep and usually a gear and ratio change.

        • @brad1601: not interchangeable and not verified.

        • @Burnertoasty:

Well, more verified then your claims at this stage. Started at mid 5s now down to mid to high 4s.

Ford's claim that they are staking their reputation on, high 3s.

        • -1

@brad1601: The word is than. Your credibility: lost. I was talking about a '17, (the model available now, like your Mums). The '18 is the model with the drag race feature. Not available and not verified. Ford would never exaggerate to sell cars. Ever.

        • @Burnertoasty:

Lol I clearly stated 18 model from the beginning. Classic online losing an argument move, attack the grammar/spelling of someone typing on a phone with auto correct.

Would be no point in Ford bsing. You can dodgy up HP numbers but 0-100 times are the same the world over. I'll take the people who are testing the car's word over a internet random thanks.

EDIT: also, no my mum doesn't have one, my parents are poor af. My mother in law does and I'm ordering an 18 model as soon as the order banks open.

        • -1

@brad1601: You did say 2018, so I'm wrong about that. Your autocorrect didn't change then to than. That was your brain.

        • @Burnertoasty:

Ok thanks burnertoasty I'll keep a better eye on what I'm swyping you scrub up on your car knowledge before making any more false claims ;)

        • +1

          @brad1601:

For any given car, the 0-60mph times in the US has always been significantly quicker than the 0-100kph times elsewhere around the world. They measure them differently in the US.

In Australia, the current Mustang GT does 0-100km in low to mid 5s. Still very fast for a RWD car.

There's no way a coupe of extra ratios, a little more power and launch control will knock off over 1 sec.

Even if the 2018 Mustang GT does 0-100km in mid 4s in the real world, I'll be super impressed.

Under 4? I'll eat my hat and buy one.

        • @JB1:

Must measure them downhill in American you reckon?

While I agree there is a difference between the American and Australian times on the previous Mustangs, the Australia model did have a poorer tune and smaller headers than the American model.

I think it lost about 30hp and don't know how much TQ, but hopefully not this time.

Also times vary driver to driver, air temp and tyres can also effect the time. The old Mustang also had an issue from the factory with axel tramp which slowed its launch times a bit, they have supposedly tweaked the chassis/suspension in this refresh, so it's not just the power boost and gearbox, though I do think the new 10sp is a game changer.

My point was ford is making a big deal out of the under 4sec thing, I'd be very surprised if this new Mustang didn't do 0-97km/h in under 4 secs.

        • +1

@brad1601: It won't. They will have used the 'Motor Trend Method' ie make it up. Take off 0.3 for 1 foot role out (not needed with timing gear), take off 0.2 for temperature and humidity, then you'll get a made up time to 60mph, which is coincidently always just below the 1-2 or 2-3 gear change. Add another 0.3 to 100kmh.

        • -1

@brad1601: Come on bro, no believes you knew the difference between then and than. Take it like a man, learn from it and stop blaming it on predictive text.

        • @brad1601:

My point was ford is making a big deal out of the under 4sec thing, I'd be very surprised if this new Mustang didn't do 0-97km/h in under 4 secs.

Just like Nissan claiming the GTR can hit 0-100 in 2.7sec, 0-97km/h in under 4 secs just ain't going to happen.

        • @Burnertoasty:

Lol you are the only one carrying on about that mate and only due to realise you lost the actual argument.

The shit that comes out of this keyboard sometimes is insane, it definitely is easy to swipe then instead of than when they keys are seperated by bugger all diagonally. Anyway enough with the distractions mate. Just admit you don't know what you are talking about.
