and the navel oranges start at $2.5/kg at Woolies but I don't think they have got bluetooth connectivity

      • +14

yeah, but my toilet roll doesn't have bluetooth connectivity and my life is no worse off for that …

        • +4

my toilet roll doesn't have bluetooth connectivity and my life is no worse off for that …

you've just opened up a great idea for potential for new tech there

A couple of quotes from the above description that may work for a bluetooth toilet roll…..

You can set or choose the mode, intensity and brushing time through your phone

You can set or choose the mode, intensity and wiping time through your phone

You can connect the electric brush with your phone by Bluetooth, the APP will show you some information, such as the cleaning degree, the residual electricity, the time for replacing brush head

You can connect the dunny roll with your phone by Bluetooth, the dunny roll will show you some information, such as the cleaning degree, left over residue, the time for replacing each sheet

If you contribute the production costs, I'll work out the design and manufacturing. We can call it the Xiaomi POOCAS X3

        • +1

          @slipperypete:

          "Left over residue" :D

    • +4

And to be fair, the oral B toothbrushes have got the printer scam happening. They sell the the device for cheap but the brush heads are waaay overpriced. At least these brush heads are priced reasonably.

      • +2

you have no idea what the quality of these brush heads are like. you can get fake brush heads on ebay if quality ones are too much

        • The brushheads were designed by dupont in the US and having used one it is pretty good. Just remember these have some serious RPM so you should brush delicately with little to no pressure applied.

      • +1

you also have no guarantee you can get these toothbrush heads later on.

      • +4

Thaat's true at RRP, though it's not uncommon to find Oral B heads for $5 each or less at Chemist Warehouse or Priceline. Just have to wait for a sale and buy a couple of packs.

They're $4.70 at Priceline at the moment https://www.priceline.com.au/brand/oral-b/oral-b-precision-c…

      • +1

The supermarket duopoly now sell home (generic) brand replacement brushes compatible with the popular electric toothbrushes (Oral B Precision, etc.) for $5. It is recommended that you replace the brush every 3 months. Over a year, using an electric toothbrush costs no more to maintain than $20 (excluding power).

      • 5 bucks a brush should head is reasonable? I must be a tight arse

  • Bluetooth electric toothbrushes

Is this what the future holds for us?

    • +1

it connects to the xiaomi app which surprisingly is pretty good

these tooth brushes are comparable to the 300 dollar ones you can buy in shaver shop etc

      • +1

Just goes to show how much of a rip off shaver shop is

      • But how do they compare to the $30 oral b ones at Coles?

        • No bluetooth. No app.

        • @ozlab: and don't forget that these are not oscillating, IMO the oscillating ones are no where near as good.

On that note, the brushes should be cheap, there are no moving parts, should be as cheap as any normal toothbrush. $5 bucks is a rip off from the perspective of time and materials

  • +2

Now if only I could trial one of these down at Harvey Norman like all the smartphones…

    • -1

      It's 50 bucks not 500..

  • +8

    • Bluetooth connectivity

    Thank god.

  • +1

Xiaomi what else they don't have.

Condoms that measure your sperm count and feed data to your phone which gets posted to facebook everytime you ejaculate?

      • +1

…that would actually be really interesting and fun.

inb4 gf gets mad that I 'only' released 16 million sperm compared to 22 million the day before (cbb googling how much sperm is actually
contained in the average ejaculate). was i not into it today?!?

        • +8

And then one day you check her weekly sperm intake - it's 440 million swimmers - but hang on, you only contributed 68 million to that count?! Uh oh…

        • @railspider:

Nice knowing you and say bye bye cheater

      • +2

so then why would it need bluetooth if it's never going to post to facebook?

      • Lol, wouldn't be surprised if they did one day

      • and see who can get the most likes!!

  • +3

I wonder how this would compare to the $200 Philips sonicare that was posted yesterday.

    • -1

200$ vs 51$, i am sure both clean your teeth lol.

      • Yeah, but so can a $2 manual one from Coles…
People were commenting on how $200 was good for the Philips, so it's got to be a quality product.

        • Effort, plus all aboard the internet of shit.

        • Yes it’s really good and I got a philips. Never going elsewhere :) I didn’t like the oral B.

    • i got xioami in all deal….and very good. I can feel the difference between normal electric brush and sonic…teeth feels very clean with my tonque.

      Dont know the difference philips/xioami…?

    • Specs on paper just as good, perhaps better than the Philips. You do get a little more with the Philips, the charging travel case, the extra glass for the charger.

Currently have the Philips, but if it were to die, I'd definitely grab this.

      • +1

My philips just died so I bought this one right now
Can't afford to buy another philips

        • Is it the battery? They are piss easy to fix, just need a decent soldering iron and relevant kit. I just replaced the battery in a 9 year old Philips with an eneloop and first charge so far is a full month and still going strong

        • @Jackson:
It probably is the battery. The machine still works but it's very weak.

        • @Jackson:

          or possibly the charger

    • From what I've read it would seem to be at least comparable. Might get some as presents!

    • +1

Not really worth $200 the Philips. Already start breaking less than two years

      • I've had mine coming on three if not four years now… still works a treat. Sorry to hear about yours. :(

  • I noticed these brush heads are traditional type,
Whats better the round ones that isolate or these traditional that vibrate?

    • +1

I heard that the round head is more effective while causing more teeth damage as well.

      • +2

The only way you could cause more teeth damage with either brush types is if you apply too much pressure. New electric toothbrushes are usually good at addressing this with pressure sensitive features that warn you when you brush too hard.

I think I remember reading that research says that the round (oral-b) heads are better for removing plaque. On the other hand, the traditional head stye (Phillips sonicare) will froth the tooth paste better and push it further between the gaps in your teeth.

Apparently the difference is minor, that you should just pick what you prefer the most. I've been using the Oral B Triumph 700 and I like the round head because it's small which makes it easier to reach behind the back molars.

  • +1

I have one. It is magnificent at that price, as always.

    • do you ever use the bluetooth function?

      • I truly downloaded the app and connected. Then forget it anymore.
The app can rate every time you brush your teeth, which is quite meaningless.

  • reviews say the app is only in chinese. can you change setting even if you dont install the app?

    • If it's the MiHome app then it's in English as well.

  • Is there anything they don't do? We just need some robot maids next time..

  • +2

I use professional care 3000 from oral b because it's the cheapest available that does like 40,000 oscillations a minute instead of the cheaper ones that do 20,000. And yes those oscillations actually make a difference cos I've had those cheaper oral b ones before and it hasn't had as good a clean.

So if this xiaomi does those oscillations I'd be interested.

    • If you go to the link, it says it does up to ~37000/min.

      • Score. Looks like I'll be picking this up then to test it

      • what exactly does "up to" mean? Does that mean it goes Up To 37k if you oscillate your hand at 20k at the same time?

        • No, there's just different settings. The sensitive setting oscillates at a lower rate, for example.

  • +3

Sorry, is there one with whitetooth function?

    • Evidently yes according to the original post if you read it entirely:

      4 cleaning modes
      Clean, sensitive, gumcare, whitening

  • I just replaced the nicd battery in an old Philips sensaflex that has been in daily use for about 9 years, heres to another 9 years at least hopefully (I used an eneloop of course).

  • +1

This looks like a knock-off of Philips Sonicare. Does anyone know if the brush head from this will fit the Sonicare?

    • +2

Not sure but be down voted for asking, even though Xiaomi and Philips have collaborated before with the light bulbs

  • +1

xiaomi soocare toothbrush is not current model of xiaomi's toothbrush line

I reckon new xiaomi's Mijia Soundwave Electric Toothbrush is better.

below are few video-reviews for new model.

    in Russian though

or this one (not really a review)

this appears to be an interesting review
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAa8pB_A4Ag

    • that might be the case but I found in this in their Q & A
      Q
Hello, what is the difference between this model DDYS01SKS and Soocas X3? Thank you so much!
      A
      Hello V***r,
      Soocas X3'vibration frequency is 37200times/min.
      Xiaomi DDYS01SKS's vibration frequency is 31000 times/min.
This is the major difference between them.
      Thank you for your inquiry.

As per > I use professional care 3000 from oral b because it's the cheapest available that does like 40,000 oscillations a minute instead of the cheaper ones that do 20,000. And yes those oscillations actually make a difference cos I've had those cheaper oral b ones before and it hasn't had as good a clean.

  • Bought one, thank you OP! There ard only 2 replacement heads not 3. Also shipping for them is 2.75. That seems expensive!

    • Fixed :-)

  • Very interested. I have an oral B 7000 I think (the one with the wireless display on mirror). The handle part won't charge from last night.

Does anyone wanna go halves in a twin pack? Otherwise maybe it's time to try out the xiaomi

    • Oral-B's have the Ni-cad's vs the Li-ion on these ones :)

  • +4

I'm looking forward to buying a Xiaomi electric car.

  • Are these sonic toothbrushes better than the electric ones ( like oral B). I realised that sonic one have bigger head and might not be able to cover corners or small areas. But both philips or Xiaomi Sonic ones have a bit bigger head.

  • Does this have the 30 second 'timer' like Oral-B brushes to tell you to switch places? The manual says: "The toothbrush may vibrate frequently during use to remind you that you should brush another place", which I assume means it does…

  • was looking to buy this to replace my $50 shavershop colgate electric toothbrush.

thing to look for is a smooth unibody so it doesnt trap gunks making it easier to clean. and uses normal brush head rather than circular ones.

  • Code doesn't exist?

    • Are you logged in? Still works for me!

    • it might be your trying to get the gold class version…it only works on the peasent class version

  • +13

The missus bought one of these a while back and absolutely loves it. She keeps disappearing in to the bathroom and comes out 20 minutes later all flushed. Must be a hell of a brush.

    • +1

I guess it cleans more then just the teeth

    • Why is she putting her head down the toilet?

  • +1

An interesting exploded isometric clip of the internals here

While this is a quick comparison to normal toothbrush action and an electric toothbrush here

  • Really tempted at this price point, have been a fan of xiaomi ever since I started with their power banks a while ago

  • 1000mAh seems a bit small for it to last 25 days. Can anyone comment on this?

  • "The sanding rate is up to 100%." WOW

  • The shaft looks very similar to Sonicare; I wonder if the heads are interchangeable?

  • Struggling to find detail…

Does it come with an AUS power plug or is it an overseas one which requires an adapter?

    • Comes with Chinese plug which is same as Australian

      • +2

Just had mine delivered and it comes with a US plug!!
So it's a Chinese product with all instructions and packaging in Chinese, delivered from UBI Logistics Australia, a Sydney company, and it comes with a US plug.

Also I have been sent the older SOOCARE Model not the advertised newer SOOCAS model!! Taking this up with Gearbest now.

        Not Happy Jan!

        • Gearbest web page clearly states:

          • Title: Xiaomi SOOCAS X3 Sonic Electric Toothbrush
          • Description: Everybody loves a bright white smile. Safely enhance your smile every day without giving up the food and drink you love. SOOCAS X3 Rechargeable Toothbrush can clean your teeth and …
          • Specification: Packing List: Package Contents: 1 x Soocas Electric Toothbrush, 1 x Common Toothbrush Head, 1 x Charging Base, 1 x Chinese User Manual
          • Image used
        • @2getted:

You do realise the photo they used states that it's the black gold updated version (https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/87087/51605/2017070617…).

Perhaps you purchased the classic type which others have stated is the older version?

        • @dingdong3000:
I know, that's the first thing I checked before I ordered it and yep that's an image from the web site which I uploaded indicating that it states it is the "Black gold updated version" (and not the older SOOCARE model). I purchased the item listed in this deal and I'm well aware as to the differences between the models (see comment below).
If you check above, the item clearly advertises numerous times that it is the more recent SOOCAS X3 model and NOT the older SOOCARE model. The item I received is the SOOCARE model as shown in the picture - it's written on the box, the base of the toothbrush and on the bottom of the charger. It is not the advertised SOOCAS X3 model.

Here's the link to the item I ordered taken from my order on site Xiaomi SOOCAS X3 Sonic Electric Toothbrush and it is the same as listed in this deal. Now while there is a box on the web page that states classic type, it should be the SOOCAS X3 classic type with the round power button instead of the oval power button, not the original older SOOCARE model which is what I have ended up receiving.

I'm interested to hear what others have received. I guess at best I get a replacement at worst a refund.

        • +1

@2getted: According to this in Q&A they agree that SOOCAS and SOOCARE are 2 different brands. If you have bought the one from this post there is no reason why you should settle with the SOOCARE (an even) older version of this toothbrush. I suggest you contact them and also enquire abt the US plug. There's a store rep (Sunny) who might be able to help you as well!

        • @2getted:
Will let you know which one i receive. Looking at some of the reviews on gearbest it seems like the Classic Type are one's that have the Soocare boxes (old version) whereas the black gold updated versions have Soocas boxes.. I might be wrong though.

A few of their Questions and Answers..
''Which of these two newer models is? soorcas or soocare ?'' gearbest answer was ''SOOCAS and soocare are two different brands.''
''is this soocas or soocare, soocas has elongated button?'' gearbest answer ''This is soocas. It has a round button as shown in the product picture.''

''This is the updated version. Their defferences are:
          1. The appearance of the key part was changed to oval
          2. The Brand was upgraded to soocas
          3. Product motor was upgraded from 220 to 230 power axis.
          4. The new version can download the English version APP.''

^ i think they're talking about the black gold type whereas the classic one is the circle one with Soocare box.
          https://www.gearbest.com/tooth-care/pp_664825/ask.html

        • Did you get a response?

        • I got the exact same box and I am pretty annoyed with it. My order states :
Xiaomi SOOCAS X3 Sonic Electric Toothbrush

          https://www.gearbest.com/tooth-care/pp_664825.html

Can you advise what was your outcome? Is soocare Xiaomi product?

  • "You can set or choose the mode, intensity and brushing time through your phone"

Can you do all that without a phone? I have to say, Bluetooth connectivity for a toothbrush sounds like the stupidest thing I've heard this month- not counting politicians and s 44.

    • Yes you can. In fact the app is very useless.

      • how do you change brushing time without the app?

    • +2

I have bluetooth app on my Sonicare and it's a bit buggy but the functionality is useful.

Tells you how you're brushing, what areas you've missed or not brushed enough, when you're pressing too hard or scrubbing too much. It coaches you on how to brush better and get cleaner teeth. Also lets you see the exact timer or when to move to the next quadrant. Yes, all models will make a distinct noise at certain intervals to let you know, but seeing it on your screen lets you see how close you are to that interval so you can pace yourself accordingly.

  • Oh wow.

I definately want to see how good this is. Had no idea they make these. Looking for reviews now. Seems like a new product, so not sure how many reviews you're going to find.

  • Where do you get the replacement brush heads locally?

    • +1

I doubt if any one would stock locally, apart from eBay sellers
