Rockwell Shopseries Dual Action Car Polisher $73.08 (RRP $119) C&C @ SuperCheap Auto eBay (COZZIE)

190
COZZIE

Highly rated unit for the price, not many other dual action (ie not an applicator or orbital polisher) polishers at this price. Safe and easy to use for beginners, but it does vibrate and make more noise than the higher priced alternatives.

Almost matches the low for this unit, which is a good deal as I don't think its been under $80 since the start of the year price increase.

Solid product, great price for a DA polisher.

  • Any recommendation for decent pads to go with this?

    • +1

Yes unfortunately I ended up spending the same dollars for pads from detailcentral. Despite lots of searching I couldnt find a cheaper option. Specifically see the note about a new soft backing plate.

      Here's the advice they gave:
      "
The Rockwell DA is certainly a capable unit for your task, however I believe the unit is a little under powered to run the 6” backing plate efficiently. I would suggest upgrading the backing plate to our HD Flexible Backing Plate for DA

We carry a pad set specifically to suit that backing plate and they work exceptionally well on that machine.

5.5” Foam Pad Heavy Cutting Yellow
      5.5” Foam Pad Cutting/Polishing Green
      5.5” Foam Pad Finishing Black

      (New style pads)"

      • Did you find it made a big difference with those pads? Essential or more a quality of life upgrade?

        • I didnt use the original pads so cant give a comparison. Saw written somewhere to avoid them, was cautious about damaging paint so went for more expensive option. Plus it wasnt clear to me that the rockwell had different pads for cutting/finishing etc and I wanted a soft backing plate to reduce chance of damage.

  • Any alternatives at this price point? Just curious.

    • Not really, the Rockwell is a decent unit and for this $$ is much better value than a cheap Chinese unit etc. from Ebay and you have local support etc.

  • Catalogue price is $64.99 atm

    • The price $64.99 belongs to the 1200Watt polisher.

  • 2 days later:

Unfortunately the item you ordered is a deleted line and was removed from out listing, however a technical issue between our inventory file and the eBay database caused the listing to reappear even though the stock was not available. As a result, we have has to cancel and refund your order.

  • Good product. their own pads are pretty good too

  • Thanks OP, bought one.

  • Can I use this to apply wax on the car? I'm currently using the Mothers Wax Attack rechargeable kit and it's a pain to remember to charge it overnight before I need to use it. Should have bought the main power unit instead.

    • Yes, you can use it to apply wax and polish it off.

I think you may have to buy pads though.

      • thx. Got one.

  • Can someone confirm, although it says 180mm plate the reviews all state it's actually 150mm?

    • Box and manual say "max plate diameter 180mm"

Haven't really used it yet to verify it physically

    • +1

I just got one of these recently. Can confirm the backing plate is 150mm wide with a 180mm foam pad and spanner included within the box.

      • Thanks.

  • I ordered one for pickup from SCA Totness and was issued a Paypal refund immediately.

    • Strange, any reason given?

It's also on the SCA site for the same pre-coupon price so it shouldn't be a pricing error, is it showing in stock on their site?

      • No nothing. I was going through Paypal payment in eBay and when it returned back to eBay it threw an error. Logged in to Paypal to see the payment listed as complete with a pending refund.
I dropped in to the store and they had stock. I didn't want to buy another in case I end up with two.
        Just strange…

      • I tried to purchase again today with the same result.
Contacted Paypal and received the following (ridiculous) response:

Upon review, I can confirm that your payments to Super Cheap Auto Pty Ltd on 15 and 16 August were canceled. This is because we see possible risk involving the payment. The program is in place to protect you as a PayPal customer and to avoid potential problems that can happen in the future. You will get your refund back in your account within 5 business days.

On the other hand, if you wish to continue to complete the payment, please get in touch with your seller and ask for an 'Invoice' or if you have their email address, you can process the payment using the 'Send and Request' tab in your PayPal account.

What 'possible risk involving the payment' is there in buying a product from a Nationwide bricks and mortar Australian store?
Now they are holding my $150ish (2 x $73) for a week because they decided the transaction was risky? Seriously?

  • remember to clay bar before you polish/wax

  • just purchased.. check inventory at their main website first, but from past experiences inventory shown may not be 100% accurate.. fingers crossed, this is the cheapest Ive seen it for and Ive been wanting one for 2 years.
