V Good phone for the price. 6GB ram and 128GB storage on the international model too.

The burn from Vaya is real though, this from the auction text: "HTC U11 [128GB Dual SIM] is a 2017-released mid-range Android smartphone from high-tech Taiwanese manufacturer HTC"

Mid-range? Ouch! HTC as a brand are highly underrated in my opinion.

    • I saw that too. Uhm…. find me a phone with a faster chipset than the SD835 and more than 6GB RAM?!

      • None

      • +1

Oneplus 5 8gb ram is a bit faster. lol

    • +1

Not to mention the highest Dxomark rating too…

Yet another underated phone like the HTC 10.

  • +1

How's the terrible feedback from vayashop, no thanks

  • +3

if only vaya had a better rating, would have pulled the plug on this one :(

I don't think you realize how funny your mixed metaphor is.
You "pull the trigger" on a deal (like firing a starter's pistol = take decisive action)
You "pull the plug" on a sink and let things go down the plug hole, or on a patient that is on life support and watch them die.

So while you were trying to say you would go ahead with the deal if they had a better deal, you actually said you'd kill it;-)

Please don't misunderstand me. I am not trying to ridicule or make fun of you. We all learn at some stage and even though I was born here I still make plenty of mistakes with my English. I genuinely thought that was funny.

      • +10

But my england is bery powderful!

"To make a final decision or commit to a certain course of action (about something)."

I don't know where you got "closes or finishes". But anyway… As I said I was trying to chuckle with you not at you.

As for deals, sorry I have nothing for you.

Sounds like you should throw the towel and turn over a new leaf mate :P

Good price. Currently using the U11 (from Virgin Mobile). Good phone and man its fast. Only thing its tad heavier than my previous Nexus 5x. But then again that was plastic build.

  • Another one with no headphone jack built in and a clumsy dongle to attach wired headphones. #brave
Looks like an okay phone but that one annoys me.

Just have a look at what they did to compensate for the headphone jack in reviews in terms of sound and what they dongle does through the type c port. I think it's a decent effort.

      • +1

The Pocketnow audio review found the headphone output using the USB-C dongle is quite a step down in quality from the HTC 10's 3.5mm jack. The included USB-C earphones are proprietary too.

      • This trend is seriously enough to put me off flagship phones. $20 phones have a headphone jack. If they start taking away features they can shove their styling and status symbols.

Vaya didn't have enough stock a few months back when they were selling the HTC10 cheap. Only got a mail telling me a week later. Had already bought a case and screen protector. Wouldn't use them again.

  • I definitely will end up with this phone sooner or later but Vaya doesn't inspire confidence. If it was the Solar Red I might be very tempted!

  • Does anyone know if HTC has a global warranty? I've been reading mixed things online

    • +1

I've been told that they don't.
Their customer service is usually atrocious, I needed support for a Desire Z years back and they weren't helpful in the least.
Brother had issues with Galaxy S2, was fixed eventually. The only phone support I had that was worse was Motorola.

Though I'm not sure if things have improved since then, I'd wager not, simply because they are nowhere near as big today as they were back then. I think they're on the brink of bankruptcy even though they are innovative: new squeeze interface, best camera, shiny fire red colour etc etc.

    • +1

Technically, no. But they'll normally repair/replace things "locally" if you badger the correct people. HTC Australia outsources its customer service stuff to a third party provider, so they don't get much leeway on what they can do for you (plus, I don't think they care much). If you contact the Taiwan office and complain about the Australian side of things, something usually gets sorted out in your favour.

  • I have a nexus 6p and I'm tossing between this and the huwawey p10+

    • +4

      This one is much better

    • I would go for this if or the oneplus 5. I was a 6p user as well.

    • LG V30 coming soon and the new Pixel line.

Saying that, the HTC11 is excellent for this price.

      • I might wait for the V30 it looks pretty good so far

  • Does this price include gst?

    • I believe it is a grey import, so it does not have gst

      • Thanks

Alarm Bells - Vaya ebay is corrupt and sent me an item labelled as new but it had someone elses login details. They then asked me for my password to my apple login after they got the item back.

    • +1

You sent the phone back without doing a factory reset? So they were locked out of the returned device? How were you able to activate the iPhone if it had "someone else's login details"? Were you issued a refund?

  • Great phone, but glass backing?

    Hmm, indestructible HTCs no more
