  • For you to get an idea. This here is an XTAR VC4 vs Nitecore D4 comparison on video. I own the Nitecore D4 myself but not the VC4 so i can't comment on the VC4. I think the Nitecore D4 may be a better charger in some scenarios.

  • So this doesn't come with an AC charger and only has a USB cable?

    • +1

I believe that's correct. You can plug the USB cable into your wall charger or use your own DC 5.0V 2.1A power input.

  • +3

Note can only charge 2 batteries at a time @1A setting. (A limitation on these USB powered chargers it seems.)

At about 1/4 of price - another option to charge a wide range of batteries: a 2 battery charger without the nice display - LiitoKala Lii - 202 from Gearbest bought from this expired deal - currently AU$7.42.

Also a USB powered unit, also charges batteries at .5A or 1 A, charges much the same range of batteries. Lacks the graphical display & 4 charging slots, but can be used as a powerbank with 3.7V batteries!

Previously bought the 1 battery charger & powerbank version for travel for around au$3 - very small & light. Very happy with both.

    Compatible with:
    Li-ion: 10440, 14500, 16340, 17355, 17500, 17670, 18490, 18650, 22650, 26500, 26650
Ni-MH and NiCd: A, AA, AAA, SC
Input voltage: DC 5V (standard micro-USB)
    Input current:2A
    Output voltage: 4.35V / 4.20V / 3.65V / 1.48V
    Output current: 500mA / 1000mA
USB output: 5V, 1A (acts as powerbank with 3.7V batteries)

Yes the LiitoKala Lii 202 Charger is a nice, very small and simple charger for a great price. I use it to charge 18650 batteries. Can take a little getting used to as the instructions are brief and it does not have a graphical display.

Yes, no AC charger and it comes with a proprietary USB cable, a standard one won't work.

You can pick up a spare XTAR cable on Ebay.

I own both the XTAR VC4 and Nitecore D4 and prefer the XTAR VC4 over the Nitecore D4.

    • With a standard USB connector on one end to connect it to a USB 2.1A charger.

    • Too much for a cable. Don't understand why the manufacturer didn't choose a general micro/mini usb cable.

      • Not enough current flow I guess.

        • The adaptor only supplies 2.1A like most mobile chargers, so using micro usb should not be a problem.

a cheaper cable option above - i have been using it with the vc4 charger for 4 months now without a problem

  • Yes, but a normal USB power cable will not work.

  • Just did some research last week for 4 chargers at similar price range.

    Opus BT C3100
    - IMR, Li-ion, LiFeP04
    - can select different current: 200mAh, 300mAh,500mAh,700mAh,1000mAh, 1500mAh (slot 1 & 4), 2000mAh (slot 1 & 4)

    - show 4 channels at once

    Xtar VC4
    - 5V USB charging
    - show cumulative charge
X 0V activation (NOT break-in, NOT refresh cycles)
X need >2A USB power plug to charge at higher current
X does not analyse as no discharge cycle
X only show 2 channels at a time

    LiitoKala Lii-500
    - can select different current: 300mAh, 500mAh, 700mAh, 1000mAh
    - IMR, Li-ion, LiFeP04

    • Good work, but the conclusion is?

      • +1

        Conclusion:
I bought Opus BT C3100 at the end.
        With eBay's $20 voucher for an inactive account… :)

I like the 4 channel display with current, voltage, etc.
USB charging of Xtar is cool but limited current is an issue.

    • +1

xstar can restore batteries. Nitecore doesn't

  • How do these compare to the IKEA ladda chargers?

    • lol that is just a crappy timer based charger….

      • No it isn't….

        • haha seems I am wrong, great buy for $15 :)

  • +1

Just get a Nitecore D4 and be done with it….

  • Be aware this charger is pretty large - I thought a USB charger would be more compact. I've used it for charging all my Eneloops for a while now and it's really good. You can just pop your batteries in and the LED turns green when it's done. If you want more features it's got that too, but you rarely use them in practice, so it's nice to have simple charging.

  • Does anyone know who ships 18650 batteries to Australia at a good price .Banggood and gearbest don't ship here.

    • Banggood still ships 18650s to Australia. Whether it gets through custom or not requires a bit of luck. This is what I had for my recent 18650 order, they resent it and gave me 100 bg points.
