Saw this in store at Mt Ommaney, but it is nationwide. Demo screen colour and brightness/deep black was quite good for the price. Very thin bezel also. Has 2 yr warranty (though should be longer with stat warranty)

Quite a nice price compared to my Sony 65" FHD LCD screen I bought for $1400 recently. Maybe I should buy one and replace the label with a Sony sticker overlay to satisfy my other half :-)

Product Features:

Model STV65UHD4K.
Android 6.0 system
3 x HDML + 1 x component
2 x USB Inputs (though label had 3 USB input)
1 x RJ45 Input + USB Slot with PVR function
4k Ultra high definition
Remote control

For those who can't find it in their local store, it is in the Big W Father's Day catalogue so maybe can ask for a raincheck?

Hi OP, do you know the model number, I just want to check whether it supports HDMI-CEC

    • The model number that I have on the photo on my phone is STV65UHD4K. But I couldn't find any reviews via Google. But I did see 2 units being shown with "Trolls" and "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" and have to admit PQ is quite good.

We're sorry, this product is currently unavailable.

    • Depends on how much stock in Mt Ommaney to qualify OZB guidelines.
Might be in store only and YMMV.

OP should remove availability re: Online

      =)

      • Oh didn't realise that, as didn't try to order one online. They had stock being shown at the entrance and also quite a few boxes in the TV section. Online option removed now.

      • +1

        It's nationwide

  • Reviews for this brand in general seems quote poor. Either picture quality or breaks just outside warranty.
Anyone here have experience with this brand from the previous sales highlighted on OZB?

Got a 40“ Viano on clearance few months back. PQ was great for under $130.

    • +2

I've had two Vianos ( 49" and 32") for four and seven years respectively, nil issues.

  • +1

I brought their 55” UHD 4k for $499 a couple of months ago. Only issue was the sound isn’t great. Connected it to my own speakers and now the prefect screen.

    Screen Quality is awesome!

    • In comparison to?

      • +14

        another viano

I have a 50" Panasonic Plasma, which is considered to provide amazing PQ that I still run. I thought the Viano PQ was reasonably good. Admittedly, I'd like to check it out in a darkened room to see if there is much light bleeding, and have a grey background to look for vertical banding issues (which affects my Sony 65" screen). Still you could always go to the store today to check it out.

For $799, if I had to choose between a 50" screen with better PQ and this with reasonably good PQ, I'd go for the 65". Plus from whirlpool comments you can always calibrate the TV from instructions easily found on the net.

      • I can't compare it to other 4K tv's… as this was my first. But it blows my 1080P LG Plasma out of the water.

My comment was more around I brought a similar one that has worked well.

Where did you bring it to??

      • Big W, with his speaker. :)

Not a bargain, saw someone selling one of these on gumtree for $319, I just transferred the money and they are delivering it today.

    • +19

      You are a trusting fellow

    • +17

So you bought a 2nd hand one off gumtree and haven't yet received it and somehow that makes the OP's post "not a bargain".

      • +3

Don't forget that it probably has a big scratch on the side :-)

      • Actually I had a thought that maybe this is not a bargain, so went on to Gumtree to search for one to buy :-)

Maybe there was one which got bought…

    • Did you even check if it still works??

    • +16

I just transferred the money and they are delivering it today.

      Facepalm

        • Really? How did you ascertain that by one remark?

          @vinni9284:

these stupid pointless "BIKIES!!! comments, just braindead internet humour posted by nerds.

        • @itsdanthaman:
          Hahaha … OK agree!

Btw, these TV cheapies are a .. little rubbish!

I would recommend a better TV that has the functionality of 4:4:4 @ HDCP 2.2 and also Dolby Vision for future proofing.
I understand the price point is cheap but you cannot compare the picture quality of some TV's that are mid range!

        • @itsdanthaman: Shut your dAMN MOUTH

        • @jackary:

          yes sir.

Gumtree? Ripp Off at $319!! I got one in my Weeties packet this morning;) SCAM ALERT

Lol, some people don't read the forums. Hope you worked it out or at least can walk away from it not too depressed!

Same price in Big W noosa, saw a couple in a box on the floor with this price yesterday, it is also on display in the TV section.

  • I bought the 46" 4k JVC for $300 from big dubs last sale. Fine for gaming on but if you want to watch digital tv there is no upscaler like other brands so it's rather poor. I expect this to be the same

    • I bought the $328 48" 4K JVC from Big W in the boxing day sales and its been absolutely brilliant. Bought it as a belated christmas present for a family member and have lusted over it ever since - not sure what the g-o is with the 46" but the 48" does a better much job of upscaling SD FTA than my Samsung. YMMV!

No stock at Broadmeadows 3047, Highpoint 3032, Epping 3076. Nothing in transit to be delivered to the store.

    • Just read the comment regarding this being nationwide so I had a search on Big W catalogue:

It is a promotion in the Father's day catalogue on page 11. https://www.bigw.com.au/bigw-catalogues

So perhaps a raincheck if there is no stock in your local store?

  • +1

Big W customer support is pretty non-existent so I'd watch out for that too.

  • Don't forget to buy an $800 egift card to save a further 5% off the price.

  • they lost me with the distorted SD horse. good price tho

  • We have a Viano and the sound isn't very good

  • +1

Dont buy this TV if you actually want to use the 4k functionality

    Pros:
    Cheap
    Massive size
    Supports HDMI-CEC
    Built-in wifi

    Cons:
Only 4k 30Hz ( will not work with xbox one s, needs 60Hz)
    Smart tv klunky interface
Built-in smart tv apps only seem to play 1080p content (youtube)
    Remote reacts slowly

Basically I bought this TV with the hopes of hooking it up to my xbox one s, didnt care for the smart tv part as the xbox would do all the heavy lifting as I have the tuner adapter for it. It wouldnt display 4k as this only 30Hz. Ok, so I thought id use the built in apps to play 4k content. No go they only played in 1080p. Runs android and you can side load apps. Side loaded chrome to get it to disply 4k on youtube, but the processor in the tv is too weak to playback 4k.

    Useless, returned it in 24hrs

    • Did you try to use all hdmi? 4k 60fps should work at hdmi 2.0

      • Yes the panel is only 30hz, doesn't matter the HDMI port. Only way to use the 4K on this tv it to plug in a laptop/pc. Still on only 30hz tho

        • But does your laptop have hdmi 2.0? So bad this tv doesn't have hdmi 2.0. The 55 inch model has this feature.

        • @Dienk:
Manual says 4k@30hz so I guess that's the best it can do ¯_(ツ)_/¯

        • @m0nkeycheese: damn it =(

    • Good feedback. I didn't actually buy one so thanks for the head up.

Was the processor powerful enough to play x265 720P/1080P? It could be useful to serve as a 65" screen and have Kodi side installed.

What about digital audio out to a HiFi receiver?

I supposed my Sony 65" FHD screen that I paid $1400 wasn't a bad thing then.

      • Yeah it has an app store built in, kodi is one of the top apps.

    • I understand that you have now returned it and was wondering if you can remember the Menu?
Normally, with these TV's you can set @ 60Hz 4:4:4 via "HDMI Enhancement" to "ON".
Do you remember if the Menu had this setting?

Edit: I just realised that your Manual stated @ 30Hz. It must have only HDMI 1.4b
      Cheers

  • Hey mate I got the 65 inch for 799, there is a HDMI setting in the advanced menu, it's set to default, change it to two and Xbox one a plays everything in 4k, just no hdr10 support.
