    Good Deal

    Thank you!

      Genuine Advice:

Refresh Rate is only 60Hz, I wouldn't suggest buying this. I'm sure your LG TV would have at least 100hz.

Also, seems like it doesn't support HDMI-CEC, Which is a deal breaker.

      • +2

Besides games is any content higher than 60hz?

      • +2

        Genuine genuine advice:

Just got mine, it's freaking awesome.

        • It has HDMI-CEC and SPDIF pass through.
        • The controller feels really nice, and the UI is super responsive, in fact response is nearly instantaneous
        • When I power it off, my Kodi box turns off. Powering the TV turns the box on.
        • The remote even controls my Kodi box.
        • Picture quality is awesome
        • 4k looks awesome at 60hz

An absolute steal for the price. I thought the curve would be a gimmick but it looks really nice, and I guess it does add to the 'immersion'

        • does it have Smartphone App ??

        • +1

          @OzSikh:

Nope. It's a dumb TV (prefer it that way). That's what my Android box is for. Also, I counted about 15 seconds for it to completely boot up.

        • +2

          Thanks@TREN

      • Remember the price, it's under $600.

Any LG or whatever's near that with the features you say you need?

  • +1

anyone have any experience (positive or negative) on curved TVs in general?

    • its to small for a curved TV to be honest

      • +1

Depends if you were using it for a gaming monitor up close, if it's suitable.

      • +1

How big should it be? 55” is pretty huge right.

        • +3

Let's just say I saw a 75" curved right up front like standing close and the effect curved screen effect was great but just at that close range.

If I was sitting far back on say a couch or bedroom it would have been much different and the immersive experience would not have been gained and instead a weird closed angle and this was 75" up and personal.

Imho curved is good for monitors and say up close console gaming or viewing say in small rooms or close proximity because it gives you that HUD effect.

The more further away the more you can see the "ugly" curved screen effect and not the up close experience.

          Ymmv everyone is different.

TL;DR if you are sitting more than 3-4 m from it the tv you might not really notice it's curved features. But hey some people don't mind that the curved feature is not for everyone and everybody sees it different.

I believe it's a price error. Same TV $899 on Kogan Page

    • +1

Sort of, they never updated their Ebay store after they had this TV for $599 during their sale. So it's still the same price.

    • I believe you are incorrect, it's been as low as $650 before.

  • any one got a suggestion for a better tv with - wifi, hdr, responsive non laggy UI, and smart tv to run plex and netflix nativly, has a good remote.. non curved only needs to be 50" budget upto 900

    cheers

    • -5

      No

      • -3

@the person who pressed - : Not sure why instead of negging me(or as well as)you don't post your deal that fulfills all the criteria above!

    • +1

      Chromecast with a regular tv.

    • +2

I don't believe one exists at that price range. My guess is at least $1500 for something much better quality and HDR.

The Hisense brand would probably be your next bet but I'm not sure how much their curved screens go for or if they have any all I do know is that their flat non curved screens go for about $1100 for a 55".

As for better 55" curved screen UHD with better picture quality HDR and everything I would say a series 8 Samsung at $2200 via videoed.com.au or if you prefer JB HI FI a hundred dollars more.

      • -2

wouldnt this fit all the options i specified?

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/325684

i did say non curved, and only 50"

i am surprised everyone to have no suggestions.

        • +2

you also said "better" :) and the tv on the link is > $900

        • +2

You already have it there what else are you looking for?

        • @GregFiona:

I was hoping some astute ozbargainers could find a better deal.

        • -3

          @Jimmy007:

A recommendation. It's pretty clear the comments or any helpfulness here is pretty much nonexistent.

        • +3

@T1OOO: you might have a better luck if you open a thread in the forum instead of highjacking this post demanding recommendations. BTW my answer "No" above was genuine because I don't think there is a tv fulfilling all of your criteria.

    • Smart TVs are security nightmares btw, better off with a portable box like a mi box or chromecast.

      • Lol kogan doesn't know how to do a smart tv, they basically give you a TV with a android box hard wired to one of the HDMI ports, with no microphones or cameras .

  • +1

Pin pulled - To cheap to not give it a try.

  • Does this have a built in upscaled?

    • Link to the review I posted above claims it has good upscaling.

  • Anyway to combine this with wollies 5% off + wollies Kogan 10% off gift cards?

    • Unless you buy from Kogan’s website, you can’t combine

  • 4:4:4 chroma?

    • Also very curious!

    • This I would like to know as well. I have not found any information about this even after sleuthing around on the web.

  • +2

I have one, I am getting 2160p at 60hz, it's my gaming monitor as well as Wii-u TV.
First 1 arrived broken, they sent another and that 1 worked, that process though was an absolute nightmare (had to take 2 days off work and wait at home to get the broken 1 picked up and new 1 shipped to me).
Diablo 3, Pillars of Eternity & Saints Row:Gat out of hell run really good.
    Couldn't see any frame tearing.
I am sitting 6 foot / 180cm from it with a separate desk, so I am not too close.
    Don't know about 4:4:4:4 Chroma sub-sampling.
4k movies on the computer look great when I rarely play them.
Looks a lot bigger than I though when turned on.
Curve could limit viewable space when looking at it on an angle.

Any questions? If I am online, I will try to answer.

    Hope this helps.

    • I'm looking to purchase this as a second tv.

I will mainly use it to watch free to air tv; afl, playing videos files (tv shows) from an android box & streaming live tv.

IS there anything that I listed about that this tv is not up to scratch for?

      thanks

      • +1

        Don't think so.
        Has 4 HDMI
        1 USB
        1 AV
        1 Component
        1 DTV arial plug
        1 ATV arial plug

Should be fine, youtube runs fine.
Soccer video on youtube had the grass a little pixely when running at 4k & moving screen fast, not too noticable. (Don't know if it's youtube video thing or TV itself).
Everything else would be perfect for that.

    • How is input lag, her and upscaling (watching say free to air content or sub 4k content) basically when sub 4k content is watched on a 4k screen upscaling is the process to make the sub 4k content fill the whole screen. Some tv's do it well some are an absolute nightmare.

Thinking of buying one for gaming and movies not much free to air content mostly music and background gaming as a monitor connected to a pc or console.

      • I have only really used it on the computer.
I think the Wii-U runs at 720p I think and is so clear, I mistook it for the same 4k resolution as my computer.
1080p is noticeable for me now, it's a little fuzzy, but the Wii-u feels clearer.
Can't remember if I had to adjust the scaling on the computer to fit the monitor to the screen.
Don't know the contrast ratio, but the whites are super white & no colours feel dull.
I heard the sound was crap on this, but TBH, I don't hear any bad audio quality from me…. haven't tested bass, but I don't think it will very good. I am not an audiophile though.

    • My main one is.. if you were doing it all over again, would you go the curved route? Kogan/others regularly have 55" UHD TV's with similar specs for ~$100 cheaper… have sat on the fence with this curved one for a while and just curious if you think the curve is worth the additional? Or is it just sort of gimmicky after a while?

      • You make a good point.

I actually wasn't after a curved screen, but this was the only 1 available at the time.

I do think it is gimmicky, I don't really notice the curved screen because of how big it is.

I think if you use it as a regular TV and have more than 1 couch, the curved screen can limit viewing when looking at it from a side angle.

        -
If it was me, if I could get a 65" 4k flat for the same price as a 55" 4k curved, I would go for the 65" 4k flat.

I do have to say that though, I am very happy with the contrast & 4k 60hz resolution (thought it would have been 30fps only at 4k, I was pleasantly surprised)

Apart from being curved (which doesn't bother me), this monitor is perfect for me.

        • I now have to confirm whether the flat and curved equivalents have the same specs or if the curved had slightly better specs. For some reason I am thinking that curved has 4k 60fps and the flat has only 4k 30fps but I could be definitely wrong.

        • @AlienC: When I changed resolutions to check it out at lower quality.
I did have to go to monitor properties and change it from 30fps to 60 fps.
So if you get 1, you will have to do that when you start using it.

    • Can this T.V be wall mounted?

      • +1

There are 4 threaded metal holes spaced evenly at the back of the TV, so I would say so, but I have never mounted a TV before.

        • +1

          Thanks I've just bought one!

  • Kogan TVs are terrible, work bought one and it bricks itself every week. We have to factory reset it regularly.

A mate also bought one and it died a month in, had to return with shipping at his expense.

  • Would this work as a PC monitor if you were sitting like a normal desk's distance from it?

    • NO. it is too much blurry when you see it closer. It is not suitable for PC monitor. Please compare cheapest 4K tv and expensive 4K one on offline store like JB or Harvey Norman.

  • I bought a Kogan 4K Tv few weeks ago. It is totally Terrible shit.

    1. The Android TV which is already pre installedd on Kogan TV is too slow because CPU and another spec (like a ram) is very low. You can't use 4K fuction with this pre installed Smart tv fuction. So, you must buy another Android Tv like Mi Box (it is $89 AUD) or Apple TV(about $300) or Chromecast Ultra ($99).

2.if you want to return it. You need to organize delivery and payment by your self. The TV is too heavy and bigger. So it is not just tiny money.

    1. They said It is made by LG or Samsung panel. But usually the pannels are made by bigger factory for all TVs.

Also, The image quality is trash and plastic frame and remote control looks so cheap. Just let you know.

    • I was just click away to buy it, after your review i just paused.
thinking should i buy it or not.

      • +1

This tv isn’t a smart TV so point 1 doesn’t not apply and the review is for different tv.

        • Oh I was thinking this one is 4k smart lol, btw i use chromecast, do they look smaller than flat screen tv's

        • @sajju: I never had a curved tv so not sure. I have posted a link to review above in comments.

      • Nobody buy a 4K curved TV for just local public tv. ALso, Australia public TV just support up to HD quality. If you want to use 4K. You must buy TV box or chromecast Ultra.

        • Or play games on Xbox PS4 , watch 4K blu-ray movies.

    • As Jimmy007 has correctly written, this tv is not a smart tv. Also, Apple tv is not 4K(the 5th gen hasn't been released yet). If the panel/image quality on this
tv is good then I think for this price it's a real bargain. Just buy a $90 mi box and a $10 mini keyboard and you are ready to roll.

      • I have chromecast, i can use that right? i didn't try mi box yet, if chromecast is enough then i wont be spending more on it :).

        • Yeah chromecast should be enough:)

        • You must buy Chromecast Ultra model, Not normal Chromecast. but it is too different between to use TV box like a Mi Box and just sync screen by your phone through Chromecast Ultra.

      • Yes. Apple TV is not supported 4k yet. Mi Box? Yes it is cool, and i am using it but you must use 2 remote control on your couch when you want to turn on this TV. it's terrible for minimalists.

        • +1

No, this TV has HDMI CEC, so my Kogan remote controls my TV and my Android box (and my Playstation too).

    • +1

Glad I didn't listen to your advice because I got this TV and love it, see my comments above. Of course the 'Smart' aspect of any budget Smart TV will suck. But that's what Android boxes are for.

The TV Itself, the UI, panel, etc are all amazing and you cannot go wrong for the money.
