Great service from this company - picked up one from the last deal and they happily set it up for testing prior to me taking it away. I know my eyes though will always be drawn to that one pixel …

    • Yeah I bought one too, super fast delivery once payment clears and well packaged. Mine was practically brand new, could not tell it was used at all. I know what you mean about the being drawn to it, but if its on the edges its not so bad. Also since its WQHD it would be harder to spot at a reasonable distance.

  • Will dead pixel fixers not sort this issue out?

    • +2

      No, they're dead, not stuck.

    • Probably not, i've never had any luck fixing them myself.

    • +6

      Just use some whiteout

      • Or a black Texta :)
        So tempting :(

    Link dead?

    • Fixed, not sure why it died

  • +1

It's quite hard to see dead pixels on a 2K 27" display, but you'd want them to be around the edge rather than in the centre, as you can definitely see them if you fixate on them.

Budget PC are really good, they let you test the monitor before you buy it if you go with the pickup option

Wow dead pixels. Some of the most annoying things that could happen to a monitor. Personally I'd go for a lower spec perfect one rather than have up to three dead pixels!

Also a lot of demo screens I have seem have at least some image burn.

    • I called up and the responder said that most of these will have one only. He didn't think there are many with 2 or more

still it's luck of the draw

      • +4

        "Most"

Meaning all of them except the one you buy yourself.

  • it would be annoying if the 3 pixels were near each other. because that would mean a big blotch of deadness

  • would you be able to pursue a replacement panel from asus?

    • Since LCD panel is made up of millions of micro electronic pixels, if one pixel no longer functions normally, it will become a bright or dark dot. By ISO 13406-2 standards, ASUS conforms to the acceptance level between 3 to 5 defective bright/dark pixels. In order to deliver ultimate vision experience to ASUS customer, if your panel is less than or equal to the above number of dots, then, it is considered as an acceptable LCD monitor.https://www.asus.com/ae-en/support/Warranty/13/24/0/19/SqSPAYIsfecjo9GX/

A few pixels is not considered to be unacceptable. Asus only provides a no-dead-pixel guarantee to "Premium" monitors.

Take a needle and poke at a few pixels until they die. Problem solved!

      • +3

I would have thought a ~$1000 monitor would be considered premium

1-3 dead pixels?. So essentially faulty. It is a manufacturing fault afterall is it not?.

    • I think it's more to do with the materials used rather than manufacturing perse.

  • delivery to 2756 was $51.69 ;(

    • +1

Thats how much i was ment to pay. But spoke to them and told them the suburb down the road quoted $24. They adjusted the delivery for me.

  • Got the last deal monitor delivered very quick. Great service. Havent opened up the box yet but it is as new condition.

    • I don't doubt it is, but how do you know if you haven't opened the box yet? lol

      • I'm saying the box looks brand new hahha.. will open it soon to confirm. Haven't had much spare time lately.

        • My box was thoroughly bashed, but the monitor was pristine.

  • WOW after seeing these prices, i think i will stick to my benq 28 bought last week…

  • link dead again for me (404 not found)

    has it been sold out?

  • +1

At least the previous deal didn't specify having dead pixels. Sure it's $100 cheaper but no thanks.

    Link is dead too

    • The monitor I got with the last deal had no dead pixels.

  • +5

1 Dead pixel is 1 too many, its sooooo annoying and you will end up starring at it for hours!

    • You can't actually see them on a 2K display easily, as someone who has used a 2K 27" display with over 9 dead pixels for 3 years, you don't ever notice them, not against black nor white, never. if you look for them you will find them, but that's about it.

  • Bought an ex demo from budget PC last week and it was perfect. It's such a good monitor that it may be worth dealing with a dead pixel.. maybe as a second monitor

    • How's the backlight bleed on your display?

      • There's no bleed at all :)

        • Not fair, mines pretty bad.

        • @Shwayne:

How do you test the backlight bleed?

        • @airal3rt: Just turn the lights off in your room and display an entirely black screen (black scene in a video or just search for a black wallpaper) and observe the edges of the monitor.

You'll want to turn the brightness up too.

You'll see it like that, but it always affects the brightness of those corners, and its' most noticeable in videos.

  • Unless the edge ones, 3 dead pixels would drive me bonkers, heck one would annoy me. The very edge is fine as who gives a shit about that?

  • For those that have got one, what did your box say (sticker on the side)? Mine reads "c grade stuck pixel". Was this the same as all of them?

    • mine says that

      • ASUS Certified Refurbished, that's all I can find.
