    Pretty keen to jump on this deal and finally upgrade my trusty Nexus 4 that I've resurrected from the dead more times than I can count.

    Looking for:

    • Android (close to stock as possible)
    • good developer community support (e.g. for ROMs / root functionality)
    • something fairly tough and hard-wearing as I do a lot of manual work outside
    • good battery life
    • under $400

    Been tossing up between the V20 and G5 but also like the look of that new Xiaomi A1. That said, I'm a bit reluctant to jump on the newest phone models that haven't really undergone much user testing for issues like bootloops etc.

    Any suggestions?

      The OP 5 meets most of your criteria, but it's ~490. I would recommend it. Otherwise I would go for Xiaomi A1, as I don't think LG software is near stock. And I didn't have good experience with them.

        Thanks, I do like the look of the OnePlus phones but would like to see the 5 in real life to gauge whether this jelly scrolling thing that people talk about is going to annoy me before dropping $500 on a phone.

        I'm currently using the PureNexus ROM on my Nexus 4 (Android N/7) and would like to have a similarly uncluttered UI on anything I buy next.

          My partner has the 5, the jelly is real but easy to get used to. Not a dealbreaker. In every other respect the phone is just gorgeous.

    Is there a way to use this with credit card transactions direct? I'm trying to buy something overseas, but it keeps making me use PayPal and the credit card linked to that and payapl charge a large conversation fee vs 0% on my credit card.

      you have the option to pay on the other currency, don't have to use Paypal conversion tool. Then the amount you pay will be converted by your bank with their rates.

          log in to pay with Paypal, then choose the card. Then look for the "View currency conversion options". Then you can choose "Convert with card provider". Hope this is what you are looking for.

    Cheapest is via mobileciti but theyve only got gold colour for 921

    Given that import stock is 799 with less warranty and up to 1 month delivery time.

    I asked jb/hn to match dicksmith at 999. But they wouldn't as its a grey stock (thought id give them a try)

    Should i just get the colour i want or wait for a few days
