The're just PC cases no need for you to add the word "gaming" to this.

    • +10

I am just a messenger. Just copied/pasted from the email by MSY.

      • MK1
        MK2
        MK3

Not a single mention of "gaming" on there actual listings though.

        • +1

I have put quotes around gaming.

        • @ms: Can you put "office" on it instead? Thanks :)

        • +4

But there is also no mention of "PC" though

          @iforgotmysocks:

God you noobs, can you all please use the correct nomenclature; it's Box That Contains Electronic Hardwares That Will Make Use of Software to Deliver Computing Processes or BTCEHTWMUOSTDCP.

@ms: The word "GAMING" PC case is misleading too. You can say gaming motherboard, gaming CPU, gaming graphics card, gaming mouse and keyboard, gaming monitor, but gaming PC case. You can put those gaming components together in a cardboard box, and it is still a gaming rig. Otherwise, a few hundred dollars fancy RGB LEDs case with shitty components inside is not suitable for gaming.

          @langthang:
I'll pass on your comment to MSY for misleading me leading to the misleading of others.

    • The case ergonomics will give you more chikun dinners though.

      • I prefer pork.

    • +5

These days, it seems like any PC component that has LED lights makes it a "gaming" component.

    • +1

In the context of PC cases, "gaming" means colourful LED lights and acrylic side panels.

That doesn't mean it's a good case. There's no Shaw manufacturer's website (shows you how much time they put into design). It's imported by Cablelist but Cablelist doesn't think it's good enough to include on its website.

  • +9

    That Shaw is cheap.

    • +10

      They Shaw are fugly.

  • cheaper than cardboard

  • +1

    "High Shiny" = 😖

Time to give the backup box a makeover.

  • +8

Are you Shaw these are good?

I remember when MSY were flogging their SHAW psus which continually failed. At least I'm SHAW that's how the story goes.

  • I'd go with mk3

  • OCAU reviewed these cases recently and found them pretty good.
It's the computer version of the Kmart "dyson".

    • I searched the OCAU site and there's only one review. Maybe you looked at a review for a different Shaw case? This one is the bottom of the barrel.

"this had to come with some great features right? Nope."
"Now if you don't want to watch the video, I will give a quick run down, but to be honest, it's just a terrible, terrible case."
"Honestly, don't buy this case, there are plenty of better options on the market for the $45. And I will mention the last case for the 76th time, the [Shaw] Micro Hero is the SAME PRICE as this one, but has more features and looks like something that is practical. This is just not one of those cases."

You are thinking of the Armageddon Decatron case. Which is made by a Malaysian company Armageddon, not SHAW, and it is surprisingly not terrible for the asking price of $39 dollars.

For $50 dollars though I would much prefer the DeepCool Tesseract, which is not without it's flaws but it looks less aggressive and less gamer-ish.
It also has a window / LED version for those that wanna show off.

Apparently you are paying $29 for fans.

  • I had one about 5 years ago, psu failed after less then a year, and then the power button mechanism failed. It was still possible to turn it on with the lead going straight to the motherboard having a tiny button on it but not very good. Especially when I thought about all the ones I'd tossed out over the years from collecting parts at kerbsides

  • i wonder how noisy these cases are.

    • The steel in these cases is only 0.5mm thick. This isn't necessarily bad, but it won't be super quiet (but will be lighter). Most quality cases (such as Antec) use 0.8mm thick steel.

  • So what makes a case designed for "gaming"?

    • Nothing is such a GAMING case. No case help you respond faster. increase the FPS, add more resolutions to your monitor. A PC case has no benefit to gaming.

      • May help cooling

        • +2

Don't put the side covers on. That definitely help with cooling.

        • @langthang: +1 on that.

        • @langthang: That's not how cooling works.

    • Same thing that makes a bicycle a "women's" bicycle. It's marketed to appeal to the gamer aesthetic.

      • You are absolutely right. GAMING PC case is a marketing misnomer ONLY.

        • +2

Not really, do office cases have the following:

          240mm and above radiator support?
Well balanced cooling in terms of fan support?

Trying sticking a 1080ti and threadripper cpu into a regular PC case with 1 exhaust fan and watch the thermal throttling.

Sure, I agree with you when talking about the "gamery" aesthetic (LEDs and other crap) however the proper gaming cases do indeed have a performance (cooling) or just general build-ability and maintenance benefit. I.e cases with proper cable routing are much better for maintenance.

Generally it means it's garish, covered with LED lights and looks like the car Homer Simpson designed for his brother's company.

  • They look decent for the price. Full ATX case, for anyone wondering.

  • who the hell screws HDDs into place anymore…

  • Mmm wonder what the cases dimensions. Been looking for the world's smallest ATX case… just because i have too many atx mobo haha. I ve found bad reviews for lian li pc-v700. Using cooler master elite 360. Need to fit it in my tv cabinet. Lol

  • Do they sell gaming mousepads.:)

  • Extremely poor quality cases, build quality is on par with a poor quality cardboard box.

    • +3

They don't appear to include power supplies, so at least they won't kill you
