  • Any deals on G6?

  • +2

Wow.. damn good price for last year's Flagship

    • was even cheaper in the previous two deals (PHONE15, PARTY18) actually, although might not have come with 16GB SD. But still good price.

    • +7

      Yes it will, don't buy.

      what answer do you expect?

      • -6

That, and the need to buy a portable oven.

      • +2

Don't think there are widespread reports of bootlooping with this phone, but that usually starts happening at around the 12 month mark and this only launched October last year.

Loving my V20. And I don't even think the V30 is a step up (aside from processing power).

    • +1

Mine is good but I feel like it freezes up a lot more than my G4 did

      • I have had the G4 also. It was an excellent phone. My V20 never freezes up. Perhaps it's an "always on" app doing something??

        • Yeah, maybe! Yesterday I noticed it when taking a bunch of pictures of stuff to sell on eBay.
Might be time for a hard reset.

        • +1

@theguyrules: The Gumtree app is a shocker. The way it tries to plug in advertisements might be the issue.

        • @Risto: Actually meant eBay, I was just taking them with the Google Camera app, then letting Google Photos upload them to access on my PC.

        • How's the battery life of your V20?

        • @khing: I'm not the heaviest user in the world. But it's fine all day for me.

        • +1

          @khing:

On heavy use i'm barely getting a day out of it, around 4hrs screen on time (my note 3 which is about 4 years old got slightly better battery). This includes battery heavy apps and a lot of youtube vids etc

Medium or light use you'll have no problems at all (easily end up with 70% + battery after a day)

Not sure if you're serious, but the V30 is very comparable with the $1499 Note 8. Not only is it a big step from this V20, but even a big one from the G6 which released several months ago!

IR blaster, removable battery, second screen …. gone on the V30 I believe. I like those features.

        • IR blaster & removable battery is what sold me on this phone.

        • I'd take the POLED screen, near top of the class camera and water and dust resistant build over that. Not to mention the looks! But at 360 is a steal for this phone!!!

        • @CanadianBeaver:

V20 definitely not a bad screen though considering it's not OLED

  • Tempted, how's the warranty with E-Global?

    • Most people seem to suggest it's pretty poor from what I've read

  • -3

    no bootloop, no bargain

    • so you want to buy a phone that'll break?

      • -2

        Yes

  • +7

Very tempting.. want to resist and wait for v30…

  • Band 28?
    Edit: Yes it does.

  • +3

    holding out for that V30

  • Does this come with stock Android? I'm to lazy to put it on myself but as a current Samsung user I have sworn off bloatware….

    • Its not stock, but its pretty clean in my opinion. I have heard that this phone was unrootable, but of recent this has been achieved. Im not sure there are any custom roms for it yet though

      • It is rootable, but mine has had camera focus issues ever since.
Probably gong to go back stock until the issues are sorted.

        • What ROM did you try?

        • @jackwoz: No custom ROM, just used the dirty santa root from xda

    • I think the android version is really good with very low levels of bloatware. you do want to do a couple of things when you start it up though (ie customer the second screen, enable the app drawer etc). lots of videos on youtube on some handy things to do when you first get it.

way way way less than what samsung tries to shove down your throat

      • Yeah my v20 seems reasonably clean of bloat …..similar to Motorola ……

      • +1

yeah absolutely loving the second screen after setting it to display recent apps..
If you're switching between a few apps constantly, this is a godsend.. So nice just having to press 1 button to switch back and forth (rather than swipe up, then press recent apps, then select app)

  • Still waiting for my V20 from the last deal to come in the mail.

  • +1

I own a 15 month old Nexus 5X, got so laggy since last update it's driving me insane. Think I'll probably pull the trigger on this.

    • 5x is a great phone, might be worth just doing a clean reset of Oreo.

    • Having the same issues as you

  • Out of stock

    Waiting for V30 …

  • honestly underwhelmed by mine. Bought previously for $380 and the battery is pretty poor.

    • yep, I was expecting more, though I dont mind it (My note 3 which is now about 4 yrs old with original battery gets slightly better batt life!)

    • Uninstall facebook

      • Don't use facebook

  • Best part of the phone is the camera. Maybe not technically but having a wide lens is fantastic. Will definitely be upgrading to the V30 next year when prices drop (or unless another camera comes out with similar camera)
Wide field of view is not just for wide panoramic shots. Its for getting a someone close in the shot and at the same time the wide background. Great as a travel camera.

Standby time is great but the large LCD screen does suck the battery. It does have quick charge and ability to swap out battery the old fashioned way.

    • another camera comes out with similar camera

      A camception?

  • Got my phone a couple of days ago and have been setting it up the way I like. Signed into the Google Drive app and got 100GB for 2yrs free - worth $50. Nice! Apparently LG promotion for the V20 https://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-v20/740987-google-drive….

    • Got mine couple days ago and also redeemed the 100GB. Happy days!!!
Since setting it up I only received one OTA which brought the April 2017 security patches. The way things are going I don't think a) we will get any security patches and b) we will get Android 8 in 2020 :(

  • Type C Cable received with this phone from eGlobal looks generic but seems to fast charge & data transfer is OK. Hope it doesn't cause the phone to bootloop.
