My neighbour has a really good looking wife.

      • Aren't you lucky, mate?

        • We can all be lucky due to the wonders of the Internet and XiaoFang

    • Same here. Moved into a new house last year. Have 3 motion detectors in the house. No cameras inside or out. Have been looking into a cheap video security option and have been considering this. But I dont have any power point near the ceiling. Where do people mount these as security cameras?

Are the security cameras of any value? But that is another discussion….i guess.

  • -1

Any further discount if I order two or more?
Will the app and everything be in English?

  • +2

Awesome thanks. I always pay the extra 2.50 to get delivered faster (7 - 15 business days) and it has been good :)

    Thanks TA.

  • Do these have a battery supply or must it be plugged in all the time to operate?

    • +1

needs to be plugged in all the time to operate

  • +3

Bought one even though I have no idea what to do with it.

I welcome our new chinese overlords.

  • +2

Haha, screwed the pooch. Placed an order. Afterwards, checked my order history and saw I ordered one on 10th Sept. Oops.

    • +4

How's this for timing. After placing the order/leaving this message, the postie just dropped off my order from 10th Sept. If only he was 30 minutes earlier. Haha.

      • +6

        screwed the pooch

        Reported to the RSPCA.

        • +3

          Tomsco is Mitchell Pearce?

        • +2

          @tryagain: I have a drinking problem :(

  • +1

Why will this only work with AU and NZ IP addresses??

    • +1

      Yes

    • +1

      To stop brodens from overseas.

    • +2

It's referring to the deal, not the camera :P

      • Ah that makes more sense! Cheers

    • I think he meant the code

  • Got my third one of these cameras, the other two I actually had uses in mind for -
I'll have to invent one for this one, thanks tightarse :D

  • +1

    Cheers TA :)

  • +1

Thank you, ordered my first one.

How do I get the camera recording aspect of the cameras to work? Using the app I can't view the recorded video.

Has anyone been able to find a way to actually view any of the recorded footage? I have a 32gb micro SD card in the camera but it wont let me watch the auto record, just keeps buffering.

    • +2

There's a "Look Back" Icon at the bottom. It will bring you to your recording screen.

  • +1

The code you entered has expired.

  • +1

    says code expired

  • +1

That's what I'm getting too "The Code you entered has expired."

  • How long do these last for on a power bank? say 10,000 maH

  • +2

Are these good as baby monitors?

    • Interested as well , remember a comment on previous thread about this camera infra red beam being bad for baby eyes. Someone said could be turned off but havent tried that yet, find the app very confusing.

Don't regular baby monitors have infra red anyway?

On another note camera also doesn't alert you to movement/sounds. You'll need to keep checking it.

      • It does alert on motion (if you enable motion detection in the Mi Home app) - You get a notification on your phone along with about 15 seconds of motion video that is stored in the Xiaomi Cloud (and downloaded to your phone storage upon viewing).

        • Thats good to know, thanks. Need to play some more with the mihome app, maybe brush up on some Mandarin :) Possibly haven't seen this cause I haven't plugged in an SD card yet, been using it for live viewing.

          No alert on Sound?

        • @scar4ace: it does have alarm sound detection as well which you can turn on…for that price it has quite a good functionality…ps. the motion detection is very sensitive…e.g. when the wind waves your curtain

      • +1

source on the infra red beam being bad for babies eyes?
one that isnt a tinfoil hat speculative mummys blog

  • +1

Hard to believe I am saying this… any micro sd deals avail please TA.

  • Code all used :-( Though ~$22 still isn't too bad a price.

  • Any deals on a Mi Router 3?

  • What SD card are people using for this?

  • All gone to soon

  • Just received mine from an earlier deal.

Question: The app keeps asking to update the firmware on the camera - should I allow the firmware to autoupdate?
I'm worried that it will stop working in Australia after any firmware updates.

Anyone updated to the most recent firmware without problems?

  • Anyone have any tips to get this damn thing to work lol.

I've created a Mi Account, finally figured out you need to scan the QR off your phone with the IP Cam, but then i keep constantly getting 'Connection timed out'.

    Any tips>?

    • HI Godfric.

So you have downloaded the Xiaomi Mi app and have an account - good
Make sure your location is set to China
Download Google Translate on other smartphone and use its feature of visual translation using the camera to help you translate the chinese on the app.
      https://www.theverge.com/2015/1/14/7544919/google-translate-…

Plug your new XiaoFang camera into a USB power source. Then press and hold the setup button until you hear the Chinese voice speak.
      https://www.gearbest.com/blog/how-to/how-to-reset-xiaomi-xia…
Then in the top right of your Mi app press the '+'
      and choose Add device
Choose the picture with the XiaoFang camera on it
I think the next step is to point your new XiaoFang camera to the the QR code on the screen of your Mi App
and enter your network details with password as requested
      and you should be done!

The main thing is to use Google Translate to help you.
Remember - Use Google translate on another smartphone with a camera to translate the writing on your Mi App.

Oh, and also, don't accept the firmware update that is offered for your Xiao Fang camera, just in case

      • Friend, thank you for the comments but I've already gone through them steps and the final one is where I'm having no success.

I've even logged in using mob# as a previous ozb found that to work.

My IP is scanning the code as I've confirmed the voice it spits out when done so it just keeps timing out when trying to connect, I give up lol

        • There are 2 choices for the Xiao Fang - one is standard and the other translates as direct connection.
          Did you try then both?
I used the first (standard) one.
          Good luck!

        • Is it timing out when connecting to the cam at about 88% or 89%.
If so this is most likely as you haven't got your server picked as Mainland China.
I know you've said you've done it, but this was the issue for me.

        • @pencilman:

"There are 2 choices for the Xiao Fang - one is standard and the other translates as direct connection."

The direct connection is exactly as it says… The camera acts as a WiFI access point, and your phone connects to the same Wifi to view it. Not connected to the cloud. Local WiFi connection only.

That is my understanding at least!

        • Godric, I am getting the same issue at the exact same spot as well… I even think the camera connects after it scans the QR code, because the indicator light goes solid blue… It's just the app that thinks it failed.

Let me know if you figure out how to fix this issue!

        • +2

          @Marty131:
Given up mate lol, but let me know if you do ; )

  • New code for this deal AUGB65, available for 200 uses. Same US$ price.

  • Ordered one from the previous deal but for the life of me can't get it working. It keeps timing out during the initial connection process.

    • try hotspotting your phone and see if it connects. if it does try again on the home wifi, thats what my brother did.

I had issues of my own but i did eventually manage to get it connected and working on my home wifi.

    • Possibly the same problem but I found that my friend was using the wrong MI Home app as there are different ones out there.
It was timing out at about 89-90%. Once they installed the correct one, it worked first go.

  • anyone know if these work with qnap surveillance station? nothing xiaomi is on the qnap compatibility list, but hoping maybe?

  • Can you get two of these work together?

    • Yes you can. Can't find the link but you can search how to get the 360 degree videos by using two of these together.

      • I actually want to use them in two separate rooms with a single feed on my phone. Is it possible?

        • +1

Yes you can. I have two of these installed in different rooms and I can watch videos from both on my mob simultaneously. Hope this is what u want

        • @robinsmca:
          Yes. Thanks.

        • @robinsmca: what's the settings to see the videos simultaneously? I know i can go into each of them separately but would be great to have 1 window with X videos running

        • With the app version 4.0.1, when u launch the app, from the first window, scroll left to go to the second window (on top). There u will be able to see “My smart camera ‘x’ items in total”. Click on that u will be able to see both on same window. With the latest version we are able to see live streaming from only one device. But both devices video shows on same page though.

  • I have two of these connected through the MiHome app. But I am getting the alert notification only from one camera. Looks like the second camera doesn't detect any motion or sound. Any work around guys ? Thanks

  • Recent app upgrade feel like smashing one of this camera.
fixed with the changing languages trick.
and later can't access cameras outside wifi connection.
I had to reset the cameras entirely.

  • Sweet, thanks.

Now what to do with it

  • +1

Code showing as expired for me.

    • +1

      same :(

    • Yes also expired here.

  • arrived a couple of days ago. got the hack working on it pretty easily.

only issue was the qr code not appearing first time.

    amazing value

  • +1

Just updated the deal with code AU11.11GBXF

It's slightly less in US $ as previous but works out about the same in AU $. Good for 150 uses, if you used that code on another deal I'd imagine you won't be able to use it again on the same account.

  • +1

I use mine to watch my car in the carpark, https://imgur.com/3Ns6hqm

Only problem is IRNV can't go through glass and has to be disabled with fanghack.

    • What is your combination of setup? Do you use Xiaomi home app or completely bypass with fanghack? The ispy software can access camera photos via internet or LAN? Thank you.

      • +1

Fanghack and just put in rtsp://10.1.1.18/unicast into ispy (With IP of your camera)

        • Does that mean I need a computer running 24/7 to run ispy to record videos as seen in your screenshot?

        • +1

          @kctt:
Yea. My computer is running 24/7 anyway so it's easier for me than using a shitty Chinese mobile app, it does eat a bit of CPU though which is unfortunate.

  • showing as $20aud after code..can anyone help please?

    • Are you logged in?

  • I asked this elsewhere with no joy, how can you use the Me home app for these (mainland China server) and the robot vacs/lights (Singapore server). I had mine set up for the vac/lights but then changed to the China server and it's no longer connected to the vac/lights.

  • Not sure if it's the camera or the App, but they are absolutely CRAP. It stopped working after few hours, and have to "unplug" the USB cable, re-plug, then it works for few hours..and stopped working again. I have few of those using Xiaomi Home App, but way too unreliable.

  • So can this detect motion or see at night?

(no joke posts please about it detects my late night activities wink wink nudge nudge if that's what you are asking please, serious answers and information only)

Still haven't set mine up yet but if it can do motion detection or night vision I may have found my new rat cam which I know I will need for this summer and next winter. Already found one today.

    • Yes to both. It's very sensitive to motion though. Even on the lowest setting.

      • Oh nice.. if only it was completely waterproof or at least rainproof.. I could mount one outside and watch the cats and other wildlife fight outside in my backyard every night. Sounds like rats or possums or cats or something fighting each other over scraps almost every night after dark.

Might set one up soon then and play with it to see it's capabilities.

Btw can I remote into it like a WiFi camera? How or where does it store its data or recordings? Is it in a micro sd card or something.

        • Microsd as well as cloud storage if you choose to use it as stock with the Mi Home app. You can remote into it with the app or hack it and use rstp (although I think that doesn't support motion detection nor night vision, others can correct me if I'm wrong).

        • @CVonC: ah ok. What kind of cloud storage? Like some sort of pc or hard drive device connected to your WiFi network that you can use to store the data locally not through the internet online or something like your own home made NAS server or something?

I have an android tablet atm and some external hard drives about 2TB that I can plug into my router but definitely not enough to store days of recordings and stuff maybe lie 50-100gb max free on my Android because the rest is for apps and other stuff.

I guess I could try the external hard drives but I am trying to keep them for a console I am buying hopefully this black Friday or Christmas.

What online or cloud solution do you use? Or what local set-up have you got connected to your network?

        • @AlienC:

          it's xiaomi's own. you don't get a choice.

        • @CVonC: oh. How much does it cost or how much do you get?

        • @AlienC:

          free. and no idea ><

mind you these are just for the motion detection clips which are only 15s long. i think you can store the screenshots too on there. though i'm not sure as i've never tried.

        • @CVonC: oh ok

  • Mine was working fine with the hack but I stupidly accepted the update and now it's gone, only for mainland China message… Will try the hack again… If you buy from an official seller you can send the receipt, accept that you don't want support and they apparently will unblock your camera. Probably not for Gearbest though.

  • Code has expired :(
