Might also be worth chucking in the Hero 5 Black which is $398.20.

    • Thanks! Done

    • Having trouble finding the difference between GPCHDHX-501 & GPCHDHX-502? TGG seem to list both. Any ideas?

  • +2

    Great price on the Dysons.

  • Dyson V6 Slim is this good for the price ? any suggestions

    • +1

Yes, it's good value. Great for stairs, cleaning up spills, tidying the kitchen, etc. You still need a full-size vacuum for the big jobs, but lots of vacuum jobs are tiny and this is perfect. I use my V6 slim more than the full-size barrel vac, to be honest.

      • thanks for info can you please advise how is the battery life for single run as i do have full size but looking for kitchen and meal area on day to day cleaning

        • +1

About 20 mins without the motorised head and about 13 or so with.

Good for loop pile and hard floors, but the motorised head will stop spinning with shaggy/plush pile.

A pain to empty and it takes about 4 hours to recharge once completely flat, but they are minor annoyances for the convenience.

        • Manufacturer claims battery lasts 20mins. I get closer to 15mins battery life. Cannot use it while charging

        • Thanks @Scab and @lakers1222 my mind is contemplating on is it really worth to spend ~$240 for 15-20 mins battery life or should spend bit more and get barrel Vacuum?

          e.g. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Dyson-214890-01-Cinetic-Big-B… ~$400

        • @lakers1222:

          Manufacturer claims battery lasts 20mins.

That's without the motorised head, which is what you'll be using most of the time.

        • +1

          @Himlord:

The handsticks aren't a replacement for a proper vacuum, if you don't have one then better off with the barrel.

These are good for the convenience but you still need to thoroughly vacuum every now and then.

        • @Scab: On MAX mode, it's about 5 mins.

        • +1

          @Stix:

And if you use it Max on a hot day it won't recharge until it cools down.

        • @Scab: Well there you go - thanks. You learn something new every day!

        • +1

About 20 minutes on normal or 6 minutes on "turbo". I always run it on turbo because kitchen + dining takes < 5 mins.

And because it's always on charge it's super convenient for 30 second jobs, like under the kitchen bench.

        • I use the model before the v6 on ONE CHARGE to clean my whole house (3br 2bth 3 storeys) (weekly vacuum). If I'm being extra thorough or neglected my weekly vacuum (ie fortnight) then I'll do two storeys on one charge, and then wait for second charge to finish off the last floor. I much prefer a handstick over a full size vacuum now. Only problem is with emptying it, bit annoying and need to leave a tiny bit of charge to vacuum anything that falls out of the bag.

        • get a xiaomi robot vacuum for day to day if its hard floors.
I have this plus a dyson v8 absolute for the spot clean/stairs and sometimes manual clean- totally recommend the soft roller head for hard floors. The motorised head for carpet is great too. The lightweight portability of the dyson v8 makes for an easier clean and you arent constantly dragging crap around that takes corners off walls.
Plus the kids can use it…

Not the cheapest combo - but well worth the $ IMHO.

  • What's the difference between the dyson and this Onix one from woolies?

    https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/442199/oni…

    • +14

      $202.60.

    • +9

say you take your lady friend to your apartment and when see sees your dyson v8 absolute she knows you are a man of taste and a scholar.

same can't be said if it's wollies vacuum cleaner.

  • That's an amazing deal/price on the V6 slim. I picked up a DC58 from the DJ's sale recently for only $40 less and if I had known about this sale I'd have waited as this is a better deal!

What nhand42 said.. we barely use the full size dyson we have now (maybe 1-4 times a year) compared to every week for the handheld..

  • Have been using my original v6 for few years, loving it a lot
As the battery is not as great now, thinking to buy this v6 slim

    • Get a battery on eBay.

      • or ring Dyson and get it from them.

  • Going to grab a weber as the price seems good too. Question is, do I go the Q or 2000? It won't be a forever BBQ, but thinking the Q would be good to throw in the back of the car. Anyone have an opinion or experience with the Q vs 2000?

    • +1

I would go the smaller Q if possible. People always underestimate how much you can actually cook in the smaller bbq. Wife insisted on a family Q here and i use perhaps 30% of actual capacity most of the time and it's much larger and burns more fuel as a result..

      • Thanks for the feedback!

  • V6 Slim $237.60, V8 Absolute $598.40
Does the V8 worth the $300+ extra cost?

    • +6

Doing the whole house or spot vacuuming? I have both and only ever used the V6 for spot vacuuming, never felt it was strong enough to replace the corded Dyson. Since getting the V8 I haven't brought out the corded Dyson as it easily has enough run time and sufficient power to do a full vacuum of the house.

      • Thanks for the insight @eediot! I bought the V8 today with the TGG deal and really looking to using it!

      • Thank you so much @eediot

    • +2

I had the same question and did some research, here is a good article: https://www.bestcordlessvacuumguide.com/dyson-v6-vs-v8/

      Basically:
      1. V8 has 20% maximum power of V6
      2. Improved dust Bin design in V8
      3. Larger battery in V8
      4. Better agitation in V8, thus better cleaning performance

  • +2

Can I use v6 as a Car Vaccum?

    • My exact question too…

    • +6

It cannot replace the V6 engine on your car, but you yes you can use it to vacuum your car.
The long stick can be removed and use the brush attachment on it as what she was doing with the stairs in the Ebay picture.

    • +1

Hopeless in a car, not powerful enough and awkward in the confines of a vehicle.

Much better with a barrel and hose attachments.

    • tried on my V8 absolute.. need hose and attachment as per above. Thought it'd work like a dream before purchasing it

    • +1

Not enough suction to clean floor carpets in the car, but with the brush nozzle does OK on the dash and other hard surfaces.

Although to be honest even my barrel vac does a terrible job on the car. I prefer the industrial wet-vac at the local carwash.

  • Thanks OP. The MIL bought a V6 slim a week ago at Big W for $300, didn't consult yours truly. Luckily it is unopened, so i've bought one here and will return hers tomorrow (within Big W's change of mind policy window).

  • Dyson handstick is good enough for me, I have 2 older models I haven't use barrel vacuum for years. Just bought the v8 absolute on eBay goodguys. Wondering whether cashrewards could give me another $7.48 back?

    • Cashrewards or Pricepal will give 1.25% eBay cashback on the original price, so $9.35 (1.25% of $748)

      • Have you tried that before, I'm not sure if it works if we add PULL20 code. I'm new to cashrewards

  • Orbi is very good network wifi routers. Especially if you have alot of devices or live with lots of roomates

  • Should I get the hero 5 black at $353 after TRS? Or should I get the session at $160?

    • +1

Personally it's so much more useful having a screen to frame your shots, playback your videos etc. With a session you're essentially blindly catching whatever… you just don't know. By the time you realise you were on the wrong frame rate, or settings it's too late to go back and re-record exactly what you had before.

    • I just ordered the $160 Session. Couldnt justify the $400 for the 5 Black. I read that people tend to video at the same res/frame rate most of the time anyway and bc of its wide angle lens, its pretty much point and shoot (lack of screen). If the Session 5 dropped something significantly, would have gotten that

  • Does anyone know if the 2nd gen Chromecast will work on an external monitor? I have a Dell U2414H with HDMI inputs, no integrated speakers but a 3.5mm audio jack.

    • can confirm it works but need speakers for audio

  • +1

Thanks OP. I think it's fair to say this deal sucks.

  • Thanks hamza. Picked up a 2tb to fit in my minipc

  • Why is it called handstick? other vacuum cleaner also needs to be operated by hand.

    • +2

Hit me with your handstick, hit me, hit me.

  • Is it a bit of an overkill to buy the gopro hero 5 just to capture rear footage on my road bike?

  • Any chromecast audio deals?

    • +1

      They are also $46.40. Link

      • Cheers, got one!
