Zapals, so if you buy now on their 8 business days plan you may get it xmas eve. Still want it?

  • These still the plastic ones?

They claim: "Carbon Fiber Composite", so yeh, plastic ;)

  • Got one. I have a non-digital one but it's too hard to read. The process is too arcane for my liking.

but at least the batteries don't run out every 2 weeks like these ones. High battery drain when turned off is a characteistic of these cheap calipers.

My suggestion to anyone buying this is take the battery out whenever you're not using it, otherwise every time you go to use it you need to put a new battery in……which is inconvenient to say the least. I've been there.

      • I doubt they actually drain while off, but cheap batteries will self-discharge quicker than good batteries. You can usually assume a junk battery with these types of products, but appreciate the head up regardless.

        • some of the cheap ones have been tested to use a similar amount of power when off and on so effgee is quite possibly correct.

        • @turbodude:
exactly, plus those are the metal body ones costing more like $25.

I own one of these "carbon fibre" ones as cheap woodworking aid, and am talking from direct experience.

  • I'd need two of these for my measuring requirements.

Came up with $4 AUD for me. Bought it anyway

  • This is a digital caliper, not a Vernier caliper. Before digital readouts, you would align a second row of tick marks on the slide above the ruler measurements, and depending on which mark lined up, this would indicate fractions. That tool would qualify for being called a Vernier caliper. This item's description is being misused.

  • Price says $4.00 AUD for me.

    • Exchange rate moved higher. It's still $2.99 USD (switch currency to USD) but that now buys $4 rather than $3.88. Actual market rate should be $3.90 though.

  • Bought in USD on 28D card. Converted to $3.86 despite the Barnaby Joyce plunge in the exchange rate today.

  • Regretted buying only one. This thing is light, accurate and precise. The deal is over now with about $7 delivered.
