Watch out for Vaya dodgy billing cycle. Their billing cycle always reset at the 1st of every month.

Make sure you active on the 1st of the month or you lose part of your first month.

    • So you are saying to redeem the voucher on 1st November? Sorry, I have never bought a Vaya/Amaysim sim before.

Yes for Vaya. For the first month, it count from the day you activate your sim to the last day of that calendar month. Say if you activate it on the 29th of October, you will only get to use it for the 29th, 30th, 31st, then your second month immediately start on the 1st of November. 4 months plan end up being 3 months and 3 days.

Amaysim is difference, they use a 28 days billing period.

        • Lol that's so dodgy! Thanks for the heads up mate

      • activate, not redeem.

  • how could i been charged 16+1, after regist the account?

  • Could someone who has ported out from Amaysim to Vaya please share their experience. As both are on optus network I'm a bit wary. I had a terrible experience porting out from Amaysim to optus

You better port the number to Telstra or Vodafone ($2 SIM and you could easy get them for free) then to Vaya. Otherwise it could take a few days! It just normally takes 20 mins to port the number across networks. So you could do the whole process in a day.

    • Not sure about Amaysim to Vaya, but I have ported my number from Vaya to Amaysim recently. It tooks me about 3 hours for phone calls and 10+ for Mobile Data to work..

Am I dumb for still paying $20 on Vaya monthly plans?!

    • Yes.

    • For the same amount, you should consider Amaysim $20/Month 2.5GB!! haha

      • I am ready to go to kogan

  • Yes. Also be careful they will charge the monthly fee about half month before. And it will take you many emails/phone calls to get it back if you stop using them.. Are they still charge "deposit"? It also took me 2 weeks to get it back..

    • It looks only 1 week for me to get my security deposit back. I was using live chat when requesting the refund. Some says it will take months! Maybe because they were using Email?

  • Any way to transfer across from a similar Vaya's deal to keep the number?

Aldi 5 bucks 360 days expires

  • How long do we have to activate?
I'd like to finish of the current amaysim deal first which will run out in Feb.
Be nice to be able to buy this, redeem and not activate a port until Feb.

    • Wondering this too. I need to finish off a bunch of pre paid sim cards first.

EC has been a naughty boy, his mum has grounded him…the SIM has to be redeemed by 7th Nov, and activated within 90 days.

    • Redeem by 7/11/17 according to link

  • Me too.

I'd pay money to stay away from vaya.

    • I have just port out from Vaya. But to be honest for $2 per months for 4 months, it's a good alternative for those who regularly porting in and out. lol

  • stay away from vaya, two years ago they stole alot of money from me.

  • Thanks OP

  • Bought one, arrived, tried to activate. The SIM card is not valid.

After reading about how hard it is to cancel, about the dodgy first month charge in advance, etc, I think I just wasted money.

  • Simcard activates within 7 days of you receiving it!
    I bought 2.
I didn't want them activated right away, but was alerted by an email that advised simcard it's on its way and will be activate… Which prompted me to call them….
Very long conversation with Vaya consultant gave me no joy at all.
When the phone consultant did his investigation and found out it was groupon, he felt like he was almost accusing me of taking money from them. The disdain in his voice was obvious.
