Are they any good though, or a waste of money?

    • -3

What do you define as a waste of money

      • +18

Paying for something you’ll hardly use because the quality is lacking.

        • +23

@tith: Like a troll, hardly used and lacking in quality.

        • @tith: I think http://www.dictionary.com may assist you with this and further questions.

They're pretty noice, by the looks of it.

      • They're okay - not as good as the high-end Bose or Sony (no surprise, for the price) but they work well on flights or long cars to kill the travel noise, and the battery life is decent. They fold up reasonably small, they come with a protective case and they sound ok with movies and music. I don't have any issues with discomfort, unlike others.

I liked them enough to buy an extra pair for the wife next time they came around - no regrets. Can't go wrong for $40.

The input cord is not fixed, so they're easily converted to BT wireless with an adaptor.

I got these headphones last time. The are quite uncomfortable for my big head. The noise cancellation was 'ok' (would lessen the noise when on a train, but didn't do much when people are talking). Good battery life though. I ended up returning them as the left speaker failed.
The replacement pair did exactly the same, so where returned for a refund.

user name checks out in a kinda spooky way

      • +11

        Yeah I know.
It is ME DION (real name is Dion). I had the tag before Aldi started using it. Bastards!!

    • +2

i didnt think any noise cancelling works for people talking near you, its more droning noise, like engines etc.

      • Some of the better ones do

        • They dull speech but not enough to eliminate it. This is for safety reasons.

I better line up now since there's only going to be one item per store

    Noiiiice

    • +1

      Lol updated!

    • So do these cut out Aussie drawl? Could be helpful in the country.

  • +1

    Noice!

  • +7

    It's noice, it's different, it's unusual

  • Somehow for 1/10 of the cost does not give me much confidence it will compare with QC35s. Could be wrong, but rather skeptical that these will even NC to any reasonable level outside of the sponge cups in the first place.

That Travel adapter looks nice.. but got a suspicion whether it even does 2A per port (40W). Probably 500mA?

Btw, how do you guys provide hyperlink to a statement or comment, I’m still a learner here?

Why compare with something's that 10x the price. Cheap NCs can be surprising. I got the Mutant NCs from Officeworks for around 20 bucks. Sadly no longer avaiable. Needed them for an OS flight and did a great job for the price. I recently snapped the cup bracket on the Mutants so i'll be getting these as a replacement.

      • Agree. What you can be guaranteed is they will probably be 60-80% as good as Bose, at 1/10 of the price. Bose have great noise cancelling in the top range, but many others match them in the bottom range, the most important end to block out plane engine noise and annoying hum from industrial machinery. But most of the time you don't even need noise cancelling, and there are plenty of quality phones than match or better Bose music quality, at a much lower price.

      • Really? I'm glad your Mutants worked. I bought two sets and has a CONSTANT buzz in the background when no music is playing. Thats the sign of cheap NC's - the cancellations become a buzz. I couldnt be bothered taking them back to OW for a refund and sitting in a box on the corner of my junk cupboard. I am not the only one that has talked about this issue BTW -

        • Yep. Given QC35s are $400 the Mutants were fantastic for $18 bucks. I bought 2 pairs.

In the refered post a couple of people have mentioned there is a slight buzz when no music is playing. But I don't have my head phones on without music. Or turn the NC off when not playing music. Since they are fully enclosed you get a lot of passive NC with the electronics off.

"Thats the sign of cheap NC's" - that's exactly what the Mutants are. You can't get a Bollinger on a VB budget.

          I suffer from tinnitus anyway.

If you wanted NC for sleep assistance then I suspect you'd want something fully enclosed and better than the Mutants.

  • Cheaper than the Kogan digital luggage scale that was popular deal.

Huh? What are you all talking about? I can't hear you.

  • +1

I can recommend the aldi bbq cleaners 👍

    • +3

Thanks. Now I just need to buy a BBQ or do they only work on aldi BBQ's?

      • I rcccomend buying a weber q - just so good

  • These are ok. I’ve used them domestically and to/from Tokyo. I would never drop 300 bucks on bose qcs for myself (did for my wife) and while these are slightly uncomfortable on my oversized noggin and ears they do the job. other people in the family don’t find them uncomfortable at all - at this price you can use them for the kids.

As conpared to the nose qc25s - the noise cancelling is not as good but still noticeable and the comfort level is less.

How do they compare to this Bangood pair? Anyone have these?

I would be shocked if these headphones were any good

    • +6

If they were no good you'd probably be really shocked.

  • +2

no its not Bluetooth, not even a wireless headphone.
the battery is for the "Noise Cancelling", u still need to connect it with wire, thats why it includes an airline adaptor.

    • Apologies, updated. Cheers

    • QC35's wireless, include airline adapter. Just sayin. Course you'd think they'd say they're bluetooth if they are.

  • +1

    you sure they are wireless?
It doesnt say so in the brochure and if they are wireless how can you use an adaptor for planes?

I believe they are wired and the battery is for the noise cancelling part only.

    • Updated, cheers

      • they may be,but I really think not otherwise it would say in the brochure.

  • +2

Do they sell noise cancelling that fit over the mouth?

  • -2

    Stop buying trash headphones.

    • +2

Thanks for the detailed review. I nearly purchased these. Cheers

  • +1

I have the non-noise cancelling BT pair of these headphones, and they are great for the price, would defintely buy again if I were looking for a cheap set.

I bought these about a year ago. The noise cancellation is great on flights, does work well. They are cabled, but you don't need the cable for the noise cancellation to work. They do sound much better with the NC turned on. For 40 dollars, I'd buy them again. Charging port is usb micro.

  • +2

How much coke can I conceal in these, and does anyone know if they are X-ray proof? Asking for a friend.

  • Any left in SA? All sold out at the Mitcham store.

  • The headphones are invaluable for anyone who likes a more quiet environment, but in reality, lives in a noisy one. Unlike ear muffs they can reduce the amount of bass coming from the unwanted source. Good for long distance driving and plane flights.

There is a weakness in the design, over time when I use the switch the sound is often not in both ears so I have to move it around.

Worst case scenario the noise cancelling would still switch on and off fine, but audio would be limited to one speaker (or none).
