Hey folks the Varta AA Alkaline 30 pack are currently half price.

Good deal if you missed out on the Aldi deal.

I would expect these to perform better seeing as they are alkaline cells. The Aldi cells are only Zinc Carbon i think. More MAH from these and can handle higher currents.

          I prefer the zinc carbon batteries because they don't leak. It works better in things that don't use a lot of energy like remotes or clocks.

          I use Eneloops for controllers and things anyway so I don't buy alkaline batteries.

          That's why you buy a new one and return that one on your old receipt, not the other way around.

          Step 1: Have receipt for full priced item, your item in pieces
          Step 2: Go into bunnings, buy the new packet, walk out with new product, new receipt
          Step 3: On same trip, walk back in with new packet, old receipt and ask for a refund
          Step 4: Save 50%

        I have had them leak. Try to take them out of your… high value toys before they're dead flat. Haven't had an Energizer Powerseal leak yet, maybe they will.

        They're much better than a lot of other cheap alkalines, if you're short on eneloops. Skip them if you see any furry ones in the shop, though some people like that sort of thing.

    Made in Germany but their website says these ones are for lower power consumption devices like remote control/ For toys, one level up (Hi energy Series).

        Oh. I thought 30 AA Alkalines would cost a bit more than $10. In comparison Duracell AA 10pk alkalines are usually about $10.

    I use these batteries heaps - mostly in Xbox controllers and remotes; they seem to last ages. Apparently a reputable German battery.
    Usually a good buy at $10, Great buy at half price! I'll be picking more up, thanks op

    Ha, I just got that. Alkaline batteries use an alkaline substance as an electrolyte, in opposition to more common batteries like lead acid with have an acidic electrolyte. Funny the things you miss when you're not looking at them

    I dont know about the alkalai Non Leak part, if I want to use a cell that I know wont leak, I use Nickel Metal Hydride.

    I use these in wireless microphones at gigs, when I don't have access to reliable rechargeables.

    Cheap enough to replace the bands wireless belt packs before a gig and not have to worry about flat batteries (I keep the half used ones for practices & extended sound checks)

    Just been to my local the had none on shelf of aa so asked if any and guy said had another box,they sold heaps today.
    Not sure if that was the last box of aa thought.
    I got two packs of as and two packs of aaa.
    Been buying these for a few years now but not recently so i just had to grab these at that price.

    The Varta alkaline will do the job alright but in the couple of occasions where the batteries were in a device for extended period of time, 2-3 years, they have leaked.

      I was told by staff at self checkout that its only for couple of days and promotion should be finish by tomorrow. Best to check with local store (stock and end date) I believe, my store had only few left.

    I put 8 of these in my rc transmitter. I have drained them fast then I was expecting. am I supposed to remove the batteries as soon as I finished using the Tx or what!

    I have been using these for several years. A small number had leaked (about a dozen out of over 300) and one battery had no charge (0V) out of the package. For toys (adult or not) that can use NiMH batteries and high current/fast drain applications, better to use Eneloops, the OZ Bargain currency.

      Even the best alkaline struggle at 3amp current draw you get maybe 800ma @ 3amp draw. Standard AA NiMH should be able to handle 10amps fairly easily especially if its an Eneloop. Whilst a standard Eneloop NiMH 1900mah min. Should give around 1800mah @3amp current draw.

    Bought 4 packs on special yesterday.
    These things never get reduced. They haven't budged in 2 years (since I started tracking them anyway).
    Suspect a pricing error, unless Bunnings is clearing them out.

    Absolute bargain for anyone who jumped on it.
