Interesting, it's like it's still from the last sale, or meant to go live tonight:

If we're gonna do this ridiculous 50@8PM thing - where we offer a paltry 50 units of something every night at 8PM - it better be something that drives Catch fans absolutely freaking nuts with desire. Good deals won't cut it. For you guys to deal with this hassle, they have to be great deals.

Google Home for 89 bucks. How'd we do?

If you nabbed one, you love us for it.

If you're one of the vast majority who missed out, you hate us for it. You hate us so much, you'll vow to get your revenge if it's the last thing you'll do. You shall not rest until you've made us pay. You will not relent. You'll strive every night, your focus sharpened to a deadly point, until you, too, finally break through and claim your own 50@8PM deal.

    That'll show us.

That's one of the weirdest spiels from a store I've ever read.

      • +1

        amazon is coming thats why

  • +1

Probably very limited stock so hurry or you will miss out.

    • +1

yeah I wonder if it's going to be one of the Catch "deals" where there is only 3

      • +1

lol sold out in under half and hour. typical catch of the day.

        • +2

sounds like it is drop of the day

        • Dude, seriously?

30 minutes at that price is pretty damned reasonable.

  • -1

I don't get it….aren't these usually more expensive? Like $150?

  • +4

Don't forget, includes 6 months YouTube Red worth ~$71.94

    • Is it Youtube Red + Google Play Music?

Thought those two were bundled together now?

      • Same thing.

    • I think that deal expires on Monday

    • thats if you have never used these services before on your google account

      • Not true. I have used the free 4-month trial, but it still let me have the 6 months (yes, that surprised me too).

  • +1

That price was meant for the 8pm deal…got one earlier

  • +1

    Wow, great price!
This is almost Home Mini pricing..

    • +2

It is because I just bought two minis 3 hours ago, kill me

  • +1

    Don't forget cashrewards

  • any free shipping code?

  • Quantity requested is not available.

  • I got the message "Quantity requested is not available". I then submitted the order again and it went through. Wonder if I'll get it.

  • Thanks. Just got one. It automatically applied a $25 credit so came to $72.95 with shipping for me.

  • +2

I did not need this but I ordered it anyway.

    Damn cheap

  • Thanks, also Used the $10 gift card purchased for $1 few weeks back, Now have to sell my Mini

  • Got one. Thanks!

  • +1

Hmmm, not sure I want one, certainly don't need one, but now I have one. Thanks!

  • Thanks OP, got one. Didn't forget cashrewards for a change :) (Thanks crazynic)

  • Too damn good to pass

  • Great price! Thanks OP. Got one.

  • -1

It's an great deal but will these eventually be basically free given the value of the data they collect?

  • +1

It sold out from adding to cart, to final check out … damn you Catch! damn you OzB!

  • +2

I had a moment of doubt, hit back, and it's now sold out. Damn

  • Thanks!! got one so damm cheap

  • +1

Saying sold out for anyone else?

  • +1

    Sold out now

  • +1

    Damn, missed it

  • For once I'm glad I didn't use cash rewards. Would have slowed me down and miss out..

  • +1

    That was fast. :(

  • All gone.
    Just missed it.

    • +1

At that price, they could have easily sold 100 units in the time it was up. Good deals go fast. It's not their fault if you're late to the party.

      • -1

If it was anyone else i would believe you. But these guys do this all the time. They will have 3 and advertise the hell out of it. Sell the 3 at a loss in the first 10 seconds to try and drive visits to their site.

        • +2

Do you have evidence they have just 3 of an item, or is that just your speculation?

        • -1

          @eug:

If you want to keep getting sucked into that sites sales then go ahead.

was being sarcastic with 3 but its true. Go back through the ozbargain forum and look at how quickly they sell out. The COTD "special" sales shouldn't even be listed as they are always insufficient stock by the rules of the site. The rest of their sales require you to join to get slightly better than retail. Fair enough they can be posted but sales like the one above should always be insufficient stock.

        • +3

          @unifex:

The COTD "special" sales shouldn't even be listed as they are always insufficient stock by the rules of the site.

What rules are you referring to?

The rules here say that as a general guide, deals with less than 10 items may be unpublished, but they may be allowed to stay if they are potentially useful to the community.

COTD said they had 50 in stock. More than 10 people above have bought one, so they definitely had more than 10 in stock - so this sale is 100% within OzB guidelines.

If you're slow, you'll miss out - that's just life. I've missed many deals in the past but don't get upset and neg the deal because that's just how the bargain game works. It'll be even harder to grab deals the more popular OzB gets, because you'll be competing against many more people.

        • @eug:
I dont really care about this product. I actually have them already they are very good. Its more im sick of this company. For years I have tried to buy their stuff and from minute 1 most of the time its sold out. Its effectively click bait. Not to mention they refused to delete my account when i requested it.

        • +2

@unifex: OK, there's a "Hide" button above that will hide all future deals from COTD. You really should make use of that feature.

        • @eug:
Or I could be allowed ot make a reply and you can ignore me.

        • +1

@unifex: You do realize you're posting on a public forum right? When you post on a public forum, you have to be prepared to accept that anybody can reply.

If you can't accept that everyone else has just as much right as you to post a reply, you should start your own blog and disable comments.

The Hide feature was created specifically for people who can't stand deals from certain companies. Other users have no problem with COTD deals - why should the site only cater to your desires?

        • @eug: Thats what I said. You can ignore me if you like. Or you can reply I don't mind either way.

        • @unifex: Looks like you mind enough to ask me to ignore you.

        • @eug: Man do you try to misinterpret everything you read ? I meant feel free to ignore me or argue with me because it doesn't really matter.

        • @unifex: Looking at the number of negs on your original comment, it would seem more like you're having problems interpreting how deals like this work.

    • This your first time using COTD?..

      • -1

Absolutely not. That is pretty clear from my replies in the thread above. Ive "tried" to use them for years. and when I have the products they sent out were not very good.

  • +7

"Google Home for 89 bucks. How'd we do?"

pretty poorly considering @8pm was actually at 6:30pm

    • Not to mention these little things they do.

  • +1

Got one, Mum's Christmas present sorted

    • +2

bastard. My mum will have a terrible christmas now.

  • Just refreshed and managed to buy one… fingers crossed the order doesn't get cancelled!

    • super lucky? after its been sold out for an hour.

      • I had the green button come up but it said out of stock, so who knows, people who added to cart didn't buy them maybe?

      • When it popped up, it came up as "less than 5 available", so not sure what happened but we'll see if I am lucky today.

  • You can also try your luck at 8pm but you'll have to be extremely quick to get one.

    • don't they released any more.

      • Looks like they didnt release more stock at 8

  • Still out of stock!

  • Not seeing any after 8. They must have been in NZ time..

    • Website states AEDT though :(

  • well they did not add anymore, congrats to all thee early birds

    • +1

But still, isn't that false advertising?

UPDATE: I have a chat transcript saying that it'll be in stock at 8pm.

      • But 8pm has been and gone?

      • 8pm AEDT, it is currently 8:11 AEDT

  • Lucky I got one before then. Added a $5 item to make it over $100 including delivery so I also got $10 cashback from Amex.

  • Just checked the site. Has a countdown timer. About to start. Starts at 8.30pm AEST

    • Nope, got a big Sold Out banner now

  • false alarm. Seems that was the countdown timer to when the deal ends. Was 30 min deal. Countdown timer now says 3.5hrs

    • Remember to log on 1:30 hr ahead of time coz they like starting early

  • +1

very happy to save 90 dollars

  • I've received an email confirmation from PayPal (for payment), but nothing from Catch. Anyone else with more positive signs-of-life?

    • Login and check order history.

      • And there it is! Thanks very much.
