  • Damn, nearly signed up and didn't see that it's for new and existing customers adding a new service.
    That's sneaky imo.

  • If I sign up on this plan today how long do you have to activate? Does the account start immediately or does it only start after you have received the sim and activated? I've just topped up a prepaid account and would like to string this out a few weeks.

    • FYI, on the order form you can select a delivery date. I selected a date in December so we will get full value out of current top up

  • what happens if I currently with optus and click the retain my number button?

will they port my number to this plan?

  • I tried calling them and the date Abraham is not even aware of it! Such moron!

    • Managed to get the offer as I am from Prepaid to postpaid. The other girl was very efficient. Managed to keep my current number n don’t have to do anything after that. Within a few minutes I’m off on postpaid! The promo is for 12 months after that it’ll go back for $40 or you can change to whatever plan promos they have next year

  • are they going to cut off the data usage over the quota or excess charged at $10/gb?

    • $10 for extra GB

You can and I just did that and it’s settled on my side. At least for now unless they screw it up later. Lol

  • Just signed up this.
Leaving TPG now, been with them for more than 10 years.
The old $20 plan(1.5 GB data and $550 credits)does not have enough data for nowadays. And TPG's other plans can not compare with this one.
    Back to Optus!

  • The sales rep over the phone was offering Optus sport as well to me if i would sign up over the phone. Should i go ahead?

      I would…
Optus Sport alone is worth $15 per month.

Clarify if they'll do it for duration of 12 month contract, or if it's just for the current season (which was what they offered initially when they started up).
Would be nice to get second half of this season and first half of next season if it's full 12 months.

The bad reviews keeping me away from Optus…

  • So I changed to Optus because virgin did a sneaky and changed my byo $19 plan to their new $30 one. And this $30 plan is better value. I just got the first bill and they're charging me $39? Wtf is this be.

    • Ok I'm an idiot. Read up on the pro-rata stuff

  • I ordered the sim card on 14/11 and haven't heard anything to this day. No sim card or confirmation that my order was being progressed. Went on live chat to speak with someone (the website makes it so difficult to get their phone number by the way), they said as I have a temporary order number I needed to speak with another team, so the lady called me and transferred me where I was placed on hold for over 20 minutes.

Spoke to a lady who wasn't exactly friendly who asked me to confirm my details, confirmed my DOB which she repeated back to me. She said she will now conduct a credit check (wtf, you have to call optus to progress your order?) Later on she says my DOB again but with the wrong year and I corrected her, she then states she has the incorrect year and what year did I put down? Well I thought this was a silly question as obviously I would have put down my correct DOB. However I must have been in the drop down list and scrolled to the incorrect year and not realised. She said she couldn't change my DOB and I had to buy it online again then proceeded to end the call.

I told her I purchased the sim card while it was on a promotion which she insisted was still on. I told her to wait on the phone while I checked since I had to wait 20 mins on hold. The promotion is no longer on the website but she kept insisting it was still on then eventually checked herself then said that I should buy it online again, call up and advise the rep of my original order number so they could apply the discount.

From reading this thread sounds like I shouldn't bother!

Terrible experience already, they have lost my business.
