Waited two weeks for mine. Finally got it yesterday. It is absolutely awesome!

  • +2

Accessories seem to only be 5% off as they are below the min spend to qualify for 15% off. Which is a shame as I want some accessories not the vac.

    • Yeah that’s why I said to combine with the purchase.. Unfortunately probably not the best deal if you aren’t spending big.

  • I want to get this for my parents. Is it possble to start it by pressing button on it? Also will this talk to them in english out of the box ? Thanks

    • You can use it just with the on and off button. In terms of language I think I set that up on the app???

    • +3

You will need to set it up first for them to update the firmware and pick the english voice but after that its super easy. Just press the button and off it goes. It will also tell you what is wrong either via voice or the mobile app e.g. main brush is stuck. Gave it to my mum and she loves it Ill put the app on her phone soon.

      • +1

        What he said!!

    • +1

its not english out of the box, it is possible to hit the power button on the top to start a clean, but it starts based on the last suction level and needs the app to alter that. If it has a problem it notifies via the app and you sometimes need the app to locate it if its stuck somewhere in the house.
Cannot recommend this product high enough

    • +1

It will (most likely) speak Chinese out of the box. You can change the spoken language via Mi Home application (need to register an account though). I use Android app - it is very simple to use and provides useful notifications (e.g. brush is stuck, dirc container needs emptying, cleaning finished, you can track the progress or even start the cleaning job remotely - from your office before you return home).

You can start cleanup by pressing a button on the vacuum itself, there is also a "home" button that will stop the current cleaning task and send unit back to a docking station.

  • It still takes a week or more to get anything delivered in Melbourne. I'm not sure whether it's these guys or Australia Post but 3 times that I ordered from them I had to wait way too long…

    • Yes, took 12 days to get to me - not impressed given "local stock" - what is it about Austpost? Bought a product via ozbargain that arrived within 2 days - not via Auspost - delivered on a Sunday!

    • Did you order before the delivery cutoff for the last deal? I think gearbite were just swamped with orders and tried their hardest to get everything out as soon as possible.. might have also been AP but I’m not sure.

      • +1

Don't get me wrong - the product is great!! Just thought the delivery time was a bit slow. No, I think my order was in before the big "swamp". Anyway, I was just excited about the product and maybe I just could not wait for it to arrive!

      • It's my overall experience with them in the past 6 months.

    • +1

my one from the last deal took 8 days to arrive but Auspost tracking showed they had it a day after i ordered then it sat in Sunshine West for 2 days, then to Waverley for 2 days and then Oakleigh South for another 2, plus a weekend!

      • +1

        Same here!!

    • I ordered mine on Tuesday, and had it on the Friday. Melbourne to Melbourne.

I did a BigW C&C if that makes a difference.

  • Clever unit, would be close to perfect if they added the option in the app to disable the cliff sensor. I also understand the possible reason not to.

    • taping over the sensors will disable them, apparently. i like mine too much to test it

  • Thanks Op. Finally managed to get one.

  • Bught one from these guy before. Super fast delivery. Highly recommended.
Bought another from shopmonk, never again. Took nearly 1 month to receive.

    • Yeah mine took about a month from Shopmonk too. Love the vac though!

  • Finally bit the bullet, thanks! Anyone found a decent price on the accessories?

  • I know these are totally different to a Dyson but what would people recommend for a small apartment.
I guess the Dyson would be a lot stronger. But if this is reliable and gets the job done it should be a better buy?

    • +1

This 100%. especially if its a small apartment don't waste money on a dyson. This is better anyway

      • I'm in a 3bdr unit. Mix of floorboards & carpet (in bedrooms).
        Happy with the Xiaomi.

Have it paired with HomeAssistant. HA initiates a vacuum every weekday if no one is home.

  • Anyone has issue with payment with discount? The code applies but when I go payment either cc or paypal, it keeps going back to original price. Thanks

    • I also had this issue, ebay was saying the correct price but the payment price on paypal was wrong. After purchasing I checked the charge against my account and they had only charged me the $312.95. You'll probably find yours will be the same.

  • Ordered. Thanks very much
Been on the look out for one of these since I missed out on the last deal

  • Is this thing good for a big living room or is it only good for small rooms?

    • +4

I bought mine recently - at my place it does a 3 bed room house in 1.5 hours and still has 40% of power left - most impressed.

      • Can it navigate through all 3 rooms without any help or do you have to place it in each room for each clean?

        • +2

Look at the YouTube videos! I was very skeptical by nature - bought it a couple of weeks ago - now I can not stop watching how it works - maybe I am just a sad person… but really it is amazing to see how it works.

        • navigation is very very good. just turn it on and have your doors open.

      • Just to add - I also have Dyson v6 - but it runs out way too quick!

        • I also have a Dyson v6. This robot vac is good to combo with it - Robo will keep most areas clean but can give some bits a quick run over with the Dyson

      • how are you finding the bin size? With my average size lounge room with two rugs the bin fills after one clean (perhaps the rugs are still shedding). I think that is my only criticism after 2 weeks.

        • +2

Bin size was an issue for me initially - but then again I was not a good person in relation to vacuuming…… Did a good clean with a Dyson and a powered vacuum before I tried the unit and it still amazes me how much stuff it picks up on a daily clean. That is the thing - for a slake person like me - my house has never be cleaner! What I would like to know is how it goes with pets - can it keep up with how they shed - and does it require a lot more maintenance? The reason I ask is that I have just bought one for a friend that has a dog?

  • Great unit.
Im waiting for the mi robot 2 to come down in price

    • Me too..

    • What's good about version two that's worth waiting for?

      • Sweeps and mop the floor..

        • Wow that one is about $800 aud. It will take a while probably before it comes down in price i would imagine.

  • ..

  • Does anyone know if the battery is removable? I intent to buy one and post overseas. Has anybody posted one of these overseas?

    • Why double handle - get it sent directly to the overseas destination.

      • +1

        They don't post overseas

    • No I don't think it is, we bought one from China and had to bring it back in the carry on.

      • Battery clips in.

You just need to unscrew the base and lift it off then you will see the battery pack quite clearly

        • Cheers mate. I just checked a YouTube video and looks to be super easy to remove the battery. I can then post it overseas without the battery and someone can take it with them in the carry on when they fly back.

  • Any tips on the android app?
I originally setup with version 4.2.5 and worked perfectly. Tried to set up a second vac on another android phone and they had just updated to v5.x The design is awful and I can not get the app to see the vac.

    • The iOS app has also become complete messy complicated buggy rubbish that doesn’t work. Very frustrating, was perfectly fine before. Glad it’s the only product I have in the Mi ecosystem

    • I gave up with the app.
I have a Xiaomi gateway and vac.

After an app update and/or update to Android all the devices in my app have disappeared.
Rooms still exist though. Thankfully I manage devices through homeassistant.

      • I'm also disturbed by the permissions needed on the MiHome app.
        This list seems crazy

  • +2

Waiting for the $200 mark :)

  • this product is game changer…

as long as your house supports it, and your rugs…

  • Much appreciated OP! Parents will be happy for this.

  • The product is unequaled and the provider is very good - the only thing I would say is it would be great if you could print (hard copy) the English version of the manual. I am dealing with a "non tech person" that would like a hard copy of the owners manual. Perhaps I have not got the right version of "PDF" etc??

  • Mine isn't AU plug, bought a few months ago. So far I am very happy with the cleaning and easy of use. My only gripe is, it has now started making some wheedling noise occasionally. Oh well, it is a plastic toy, what can I say.

  • Have one, love it. Just bought another to gift to someone

    • Someone like me?

  • +1

Can someone tell me if this is good for wooden and tiled floors? We don't have any rugs.

    • +1

yes its pretty good. check out some review videos on YouTube. You'll get a much better idea than from people replying on here.

    • +1

No issues here. Laminate floorboards, rugs, tiles and carpet.

    • +1

I'm primarily using it on wooden floors and it's awesome.

  • This vacumn is amazing and I also purchased off Gearbite.

I wanted to share my experience when I had an issue with the unit as great service should be highlighted.

I had the unit about 3mths when I started to have an issue with the sensor. Basically it would periodically stop and a message advising the sensor was blocked was heard. This was slightly annoying when it happened however the unit still worked. Note I had friends who have brought this with no issues and Google searches made no indication this was a common problem.

Anyway I contacted Gearbite who immediately sent me a return post label. I popped the unit in the post and within a week the unit was back and functioning perfectly.

I would not hesitate in buying from these guys in the future

  • so is this really the cheapest deal by far?

    • It’s the cheapest so far for Aus Stock, but overall the cheapest price has been $299 from Singapore.

  • Looks like these might go mainstream, Kogan are selling them now! I wonder if they were the buyer that bought 42 of them from the deal at Mytopia a couple of weeks ago.

  • Hi,Alch.,
Do you know how much Kogan is selling this product. ? I love to buy from Kogan as they are very realiable and fast in delivery and they have a store in Victoria. By the way, could someone tell me does this vacuum clean the carpet well? Heaps of thanks for advice,

  • Thanks OP finally pulled the trigger! Would of loved the mi robot 2 with mopping but it will take a while before the price drops.

  • How is this Xiao Mi compared to Kogan Ultimate Robot Vacuum?

    Listed as 219 plus delivery.

  • I'm so tempted… so so tempted.
Wondering how my cat will react though bahaha… I bet they will be terrified! How have everyones pets reacted to it? :D

  • Love our (Sadie) Mi Robot . We have just been out walking the dog at the beach and she has cleaned, 141 sq metres, in 160 minutes, and is now sleeping in her charging dock. Although it isn't necessary, we tend to lift the dining chairs and stools off the ground to make her life easier. We have a virtual wall, but just put a couple of door snakes down as a barrier if we want to block off an area.
We have a large shag pile carpet in the lounge which she doesnt like so we just fold back the edges .

  • Finally pulled the trigger on one of these yesterday. Can't wait to see what all the fuss is about.

  • Has anyone received theirs yet? Still waiting on mine. Cheers

    • +1

Yeah, received mine yesterday. You should have got a tracking number in your email.

  • Hi All, decided I want to buy myself one of these for xmas, any deals around?

    • +1

Nothing really on atm, cheapest option is Kogan for $313.65 using the discounted gift cards on eBay and free shipping using Shipster. Pretty sure it’s grey import though. Gearbite said they something might be coming very soon though.

      • Ta, might hold off then.
Curious, whats the negative re grey? & how do you get it cheaper with ebay gift card, just searched and all I could find was equal value exchange?

        • I think actually it’s not too bad for this product, but for phones etc kogan only offers the 1 year warranty for grey so it’s a bit annoying. The discounted gift cards are from here, it’s 15% off kogan.

Gearbite reached out to me recently saying they’ve got something coming soon, so worth waiting a bit for it. Not 100% sure what it is though.

        • WoW, bugga, wish I knew about those cards last weekend, spent a bit of coin at both SC & BCF
          Oh well, next time
