      • lol … use it as a hotspot and stream 4K video :)

      • Yes and no … "Unused data rolls over once only then expires after 30 days."

eg So if you have a 4G pack and only use 1G a month for 11 months, in the 12th month you'll only have 8G available. Whereas the value pack in the same scenario will have 31G (42-11) remaining in the last month.

Hmm, with the fierce competition in the mobile plan space at the moment I think Aldi is going to have to augment its Super Pack. My current Super Pack expires in February but I wonder whether they will drop the price (or provide more data) of this 12m plan before then. Anyone have any suspicions?

  • I could not find the answer online, but does anyone know what happens after 365 days if you don't do anything?

    • +1

After 365 days, the base PAYG credit expires. If you do not recharge your PAYG credit within the next 90 days, your Service may be permanently cancelled.

Refer to Clause 13 - SERVICE CANCELLATION in the "Prepaid Mobile Terms and Conditions August 2017"
      https://www.aldimobile.com.au/legals/

  • Would be good if they included some international calls

    This is a TERRIBLE deal!
Works out at over $20 per month and only 3.5GB on average per month.
Kogan is curently offering double that for much less!!
For only $205 per 365 days you get 6GB per month and unlimited calls/SMS
That works out to 72GB od data per year or $17 per month
Whats even better for $254 per 365 days you can get 11GB per month - thats a whoping 132GB per year
Sorry OP but Aldi is not offering a good deal at all. Its actually really terrible!
Recommend Ozbargainer go with Kogan instead

      • -3

You got it WRONG buddy. Its the crappy inferior Telstra WHOLESALE network vs Vodafone complete network. Chalk and cheese. Just see complaints from others on Aldi network

        • +1

I was on Telstra 6-7 years before trying Aldi this year.

Maybe it's "less good", but my experience (CBD, Richmond, eastern and southeast burbs) has been far from crappy. I know, a sample of one is almost meaningless, just sharing.

As @abacus said, it's about 95% of Telstra Retail coverage and mostly respectable speeds — at a fraction of Retail price.

        • Compare the maps, especially for your own area. Vodafone maybe be good for you but terrible for others and vice versa.

Also Telstra Wholesale is close to Telstra Retail.

        • @Member 0230: Different network and slower speeds, Not to be confised with Telstra retail network. telstra are not stupid enough to offer thier premium retail network so cheap.

  • Hi, does anyone know if you can you port your existing phone number over?

    • +2

Assuming you mean from another telco? Absolutely. I believe this is true of all telcos in AU.

  • Picked up two SIM cards from Melb CBD Store at 8:45am. Was surprised that the store was pretty much empty.

  • I picked up 3 - apparently limit of 2/customer but gave me 3 when I mentioned
it was for my kids. Queue of people after headphone & bluetooth speaker.

I just received this update from Aldi — good news if you'd like a no-hassle renewal of your 1 Year Super Pack:

We wanted to let you know that as an existing 1 Year Super Pack customer, you will be able to recharge your Super Pack plan online when your current pack expires. There is no need to purchase another Super Pack in-store.

When your current 1 Year Super Pack expires, you will see the option to recharge with another one when you log in to your account either via our website or mobile app.

I was thinking I'd need to visit Aldi to buy another Pack, the potential hassles of running out of stock, etc. Phew.

    • It would be nice if they improved the offering though, given the competition!

    • just got this too, saves a lot of hassle!

    • I was about to post the same thing! Very handy that you're granted the option to buy another 12 month pack!

    • Got the same email (this arvo) too, after queueing up for a pack this morning (to use when my existing plan finishes in Feb).

Interesting that the email doesn't exactly say how much the renewal will be or if it's a 1 year plan, as the wording they use is "… the option to recharge with another one…"

Think I'm might just hang on to the pack I bought this morning and hang on to it for 60 days and see how it goes… fingers crossed that there will be more data inclusion…

      • Me too (but I bought 3!) - not sure whether to return them

        • Just went to return them and they said they can't accept the return until the boxes are verified they haven't been used.
Bit peeved but I was going to buy the yr pack when the time came anyways. So I guess I'll hang onto these. I'll just be pissed if along comes a better plan before my 3 months expire.
My other peeve is why didn't they release this information before the pack went on sale. A day prior…

        • @kzaj: I'm sorry to hear about your painful experience.

I decided to return mine and got lucky that the cashier didn't question… much.

May I suggest that you try a different store to return yours?

  • +1

Can we buy this online plz???

  • Can I still buy this today, or limited offer?

Also I want to activate the SIM in 3 or 4 weeks time, and start my 12mths from then - from what I am reading it is possible right?

    • Yes, expiry on the pack is Nov'18

      • silly question perhaps….is that expiry the activation date.

Or does that mean I will lose a month of use, because I activated at end of Dec 2017 ?

        • +1

You will get the full 12 months

  • What happens when you go over the data does it stop automatically like Kogan or keep charging you extra charges and data fees.

I know Kogan needs a data pack or recharge to continue using data once over the monthly limit which is great to counter bill shock.

Also what about international calls does aldi mobile not let you continue until you buy more minutes.. I am not actually sure how Kogan does this.

The better plan with better bill shock preventative measures will ultimately win it for me as one bad mistake can be seriously stupid and costly like random app updates or accidentally mass downloading off WiFi.

Got one today. It was in the cabinet display in the general area after you exit the cash registers. Lady at register had no idea. Luckily another worker there knew where they were

    Porting took less than 30mins

  • Thanks to the mods for unexpiring this.

Was at North Sydney Aldi today and noticed about 20 packs in the cabinet.

If you come across any other Aldi stores with stock, please post in this thread.

  • I purchased one without reading this thread. My data has almost expired but I have 21 days left. It is not letting me recharge now but will I be able to use the recharge code in 21 days?

  • My wife's Aldi Mobile 365day 42Gb Super Pack has just expired. It's been great. But I can't see how to recharge online or in the Phone App.

    Accordimg to https://www.aldimobile.com.au/plans/1-year-super-pack/
"Customers who have previously had a 1 Year Super Pack on their service are able to add another one."

    Has anyone figured it out?

  • +1

Ok I've just figured it out.

    Summary:

Ring Aldi customer service… at the end of my call I double checked and apparently this is the only way to add a new Super Pack. By phone.

So, tonight starting at about 8pm I waited an hour and 16 minutes on speakerphone. Great work Aldi, really great customer service… NOT.

    The Aldi Process:
    1. Had to plead with them to explain that there seems to be no online option to add another year of our just expired $249 super pack.

    1. Told them that the critical information summary explains that it existing customers are eligible to add another year.

    2. Because our service has just expired they said I needed to reactivate our account spending $15 min spend PayAsYouGo.

    3. I objected, What! Is it therefore really $15 + $249 =$264 total???
She said Yes, the $15 would be additional.

    4. Objection!
I objected and said this is not in the critical information summary. In fact it says if you add another value pack prior to the expiry of your existing pack if you will forfeit all your existing credit.

    5. I insisted that she speak to her supervisor and explain that we are only wanting to purchase the $249 one year super pack without any additional charges. Since we are eligible.

    6. She then agreed, but insisted the $15 step was essential. But they would credit this or rather extend this plan to the $249 1 Year Super Pack 365 days 42Gb.

    7. Had to add a creditcard to our account which I think was set up as a pay-as-u-go. Then the 1 yr Super Pack was applied.
Yep, 1 hour and 16 minutes of my life gone.

    8. Lastly you have to wait for this SMS activation confirmation "Your 1 year Super Pack has now been added to this number. Thank you for shopping with Aldi."

Oh, when you first ring up you get put on hold after selecting your options and will have no indication of how long you are likely to be stuck on hold for… waiting waiting waiting waiting waiting waiting… so a speakerphone is essential.

Anyway my better half is all set for another year with plenty of data available for her needs, but will seriously look into alternatives before having to go through this again.

    • Wife and I are with ALDI Mobile and our Super pack is expiring later this month. I had logged into their website earlier this week and checked out the recharge option. Couldn't find another Super pack option.
Thanks for posting up your detailed experience with Aldi mobile over the phone.
I think i'll go with the Kogan mobile deals, 16gb per 30days for $254 (365day prepaid plan)
I realise Aldi runs on Telstra and Kogan is on Vodafone , but i haven't had any major dramas with Vodafone when I was with them years ago. Plus i cant put myself through the pain of talking to Aldi Mobile customer service on the phone for hours :O

    • +1

"at the end of my call I double checked and apparently this is the only way to add a new Super Pack. By phone."

      This seems to be incorrect.

My Super Pack is due to expire in 23 days. I can see the option to recharge with a new Super Pack for $249 by logging onto Aldimobile.com.au and clicking "Recharge" > "List my options" located under Value Packs and Data Packs.

      • Interesting to hear. No such option for us last night I can assure you! As my report above, you may need to have to have a pay as you go set up. Which we didnt have as first time user of a Super Pack. Maybe if you had a previous PAYG plan prior to the Super Pack you had a different set of options. We only had an option to enter a voucher code, and no link to a Super Pack hence my detailed response of exactly what was said by the help desk.

I should add, at the end of our 76 minute renewal ordeal, I spent some time saying how ridiculous this has been to simply renew as an 'entitled customer'. The website needed a clear path to renewal.

Will be interesting to see if they have done something or not, but that seems a bit too quick to me! Anyway well done. Cheers

        • Hmm that's interesting. I too am also a first time user of a Super Pack and don't currently have PAYG set up…
Not sure why it didn't show on your account.

  • So much for the no-hassle (my thoughts) online renewal! Anybody else experience the same?

And just to be clear, this bit didn't happen for you, right? "We’ll be in contact with instructions on how to recharge before your Super Pack expires."

  • Got an email from ALDI yesterday, as posted below. I have however decided to go with Kogan 16gb per 30 days for $254 instead. I personally think ALDI mobile should have increased data allowance for this year's $249 deal than stick with the same 42gb deal from last year. Competition is running hot.

  • In store tells me no. 1 year Super Plan doesn't exist.

Online tells me it doesn't exist, suggests all plans available bar this one.

I got an "expiry soon" email from aldimobile and at the bottom it had a phone number 1300 989 000

I rang to have a whinge and after selecting options through to speak to a person, I got straight through to (I think.. ) Kirt(?)

Anyhoo, no problems, recharged 1 year Super Pack using stored credit card, 6GB bonus as a loyalty gift, 48GB.

Recharged, done. SMS acknowledging came in very quickly after the call.

    • I see the option to recharge that plan in the Android app but not the website.

      • My Samsung Android also has that. But…

Select "recharge" at the bottom and it goes the other plans or voucher number input field. NOT the Super Pack.

        So… sorry, check yours again.

      • Ahhh…. update.

In the ALDI android ap "help me choose" brings up the tadaaaaaaaaaaaaaa 1 Year Super Pack :D

That wasn't so hard to find. Was it? O^O

    • I have recharged but I still get the reminder emails. Interesting hints in it though. Today's pasted below:

Just received an email saying that they have upgraded the 1 year super pack to 80GB, i.e. the same amount of the data as their $299 pack last month.

  • This deal is still showing as ACTIVE, but I assume that is only for existing ALDI Mobile users?

My kids want to move over to ALDI Mobile but the 1 Year Super Pack is not available in store nor offered online.

So until they make it a special buy, it's not REALLY available for new users. Maybe this should be noted in the title…unless there's something I'm missing or am not aware of? Is so, please let me know…

Try Boost Mobile. $99 cheaper, full Telstra network, same data, plus selected international calls.
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/440667

I talked to Aldi mobile team before and they don't wanna match the price.

      • Thanks - that might just do the trick!
