I have it too so perhaps not targeted.

  • +1

    Must be Velocity Amex only.

I did have the Rebel offer though on my amex issued charge card 😊

    • .> Doesn't get promotion in own amex
      .> Assumes Velocity Amex only

      lol

  • +2

    Not for me… I guess it's targeted?

  • +2

Got it on my velocity platinum, thanks

  • Not for me

  • Got it on my velocity platinum. Didn’t come up on my account for my supplementary card though. Anyone got a manual link?

  • Save the offer to your eligible Card and spend $500 or more, in one or more eligible transactions at BP, Hertz, Microsoft or Virgin Australia by 10/12/17 to receive 5,000 Velocity Points. Limited to 8,000 Cards. Exclusions Apply.

8 pepole want to meet up and do a group buy of petrol at BP with me?

  • +1

Must be velocity cards only… dang!

    • +1

Looks like. Nothing on my Qantas Discovery

      • +3

Given the offer is for 5000 Velocity points, I doubt you'd be getting that on your Qantas card :P

  • +1

Got it on my CBA card. I think it’s for those that have collected velocity points at BP before

    • I have shopped at BP for extra velocity points in the last 6 months and did not get this offer unfortunately! (Paid by amex card)

  • +1

does it have to be $500 all in one transaction at the same store or can it be multiple purchases at different eligible stores as long as it adds up to $500 and over?

    • They expect you to buy a lot of bread and milk at BP.

      • And/or hire a car or book flights or buy Microsoft stuff.

  • hmmmm what to buy?… what to buy?…

    • BP Fuel cards is what I would do. 2 x $200 and 1 x $100 and you're set for fuel for some time!

      • Looks like the best option. Although in the past I found it very challenging to find a BP station that sells fuel gift cards and/or an attendant knows how to sell gift cards.

      • Open says can't use for fuel cards.

        • +2

It says it excludes purchases using fuel cards, not purchases of gift cards.

        • Are you sure?
"Excludes purchases via BP Fuel card", so 'via', not 'of'.
I wonder if that's the case.

        • Every Amex deal with BP I've only ever bought BP Fuel Cards (eg. Spend $40, $20 cash back), and have always received the cashback. I'd assume it would be the same for this points promo?

IME, you would probably struggle to buy $500 of cards in one go from one attendant using Amex (they get narky about it), but you should be able to over 3 visits no problems.

        • @tizey: Probably depends on the attendant. Last time I went and bought two $200 cards split across 10 separate Amex cards ($40 on each) to hit the BP offer they were far more amused than annoyed.

I also didn't go at a peak time.

      • Nice idea. I might've tried it if there was a BP servo anywhere near me that was even vaguely close to being the cheapest more frequently than a blue moon who didn't surcharge outrageously for using AMEX.

  • Its good to see BP and Velocity still working along. A while back there was a lawsuit where BP wanted to leave this partnership after they acquired all Woolies stations and Woolies had links to Qantas cards.

    https://www.ausbt.com.au/virgin-australia-sues-as-bp-attempt…

    • Thanks. Didn't know this. Seems like the partnership will end in April 18 regardless.

  • How much is 5000FF points worth?

    • -2

Since points are 1:1 for velocity escape, it is worth $5000

      • Really?

        • You can't even get a $100 giftcard with that, probably like 50

        • Sorry, I thought you meant how much it took to earn 5000 FF.

    • Based on the website: https://shop.velocityfrequentflyer.com/Award?KeyWords=&PointsOptions=PointsRange&MinimumPoints=0&MaximumPoints=10000&cm_re=Home--AUSB2--Fantastic%20Rewards about $30 I thought? Since you can buy $50 gift cards for 9000

    • 1:1c = $50

  • -1

If only it was spend $500 get $5000 cashback return…..

    • +7

What world do you live in where a business offers $5000 cashback for $500 spend.

    • +1

If only all the money in Monopoly was real?…

  • I just received an email from AmEx as follows…

Looks like it doesn't have to be spent in the one go, given you can combine!

  • +1

Velocity have also emailed members with a triple points offer, for any Virgin flights. Wonder if these'll stack.

    • +1

      No reason they wouldn't

  • +1

I guess I can do $500 Opal top up from my local BP to take advantage of this offer.

    • +1

I thought Opal had a top-up limit…but I guess you can use different Opal cards.

  • +2

I've currently got the following list of offers on my Amex Velocity Platnium:

    1. Woolworths Welcome Offer - Spend $30 get $10 back.
    2. Rebel Sport - Spend $60 get $15 back.
    3. H&R Block - Spend $200 get $40 back.
    4. Build a Bear - Spend $50 get $15 back.
    5. Samsung Online - Spend >$1699 get 20% back.
    6. Specsavers - Spend $50 get $25 back.
    7. David Jones - Spend $40 get $15 back.

And the Velocity partnership - 5000 points offer. Is there anymore that people know of?

  • VERY targeted. Appeared in my AMEX Velocity account (for primary card only, not supps) but not my wife's (she hardly ever uses the card, is probably why).

    • My T&C's email states that supp cards are not eligible

      • Yup nothing on our supp card.

  • I called a BP nearby in Sydney to confirm they take AMEX & there is a surchage! Guy on the phone said it's a system generated surcharge of around 1.5%

    • Find another BP. A lot of franchised private operators surcharge, company owned ones (they tend to be bigger ones) don't.

      • ok thank you, i will keep hunting :)

  • "Please note for BP:
    Valid in-store only.
Offer valid at American Express accepting locations only.
Excludes purchases of commercial fuel or bulk fuel.

Excludes purchases via BP Fuel card or BPMe mobile app."

I'm not sure. Can you buy a BP gift cards in store (it looks like not BP Fuel card)? Anyone tried it & get email from Amex or not?

  • I just Live Chatted with Amex asking if I could buy BP gift cards - the Rep said it would trigger the promo:

    You at 0:33, Nov 22:
I want to know if I go into a BP Store and purchase $501 worth of fuel gift cards from them, does that count as eligible purchases so I will earn the 5000 points?

    Paddy at 0:39, Nov 22:
I have gone through the offer terms and it states that the offer excludes purchases via BP Fuel card or BPMe mobile app
    You at 0:40, Nov 22:
yes, I read that… but what if I used my Amex card to purchase $501 of BP's gift cards?
    You at 0:40, Nov 22:
would the purchase of the gift cards trigger the promo?
    Paddy at 0:40, Nov 22:
So, you can purchase BP's gift cards for the 5,000 bonus points offer
    Paddy at 0:41, Nov 22:
    Yes, you can

Just figured out how to get my $500 spend!! Wasn't sure how I was going to do it :)

    • I already purchased $335 tickets from Virgin Australia. Now I'll try to buy more $165 BP's gift cards.
      Let's see how it works.

    • Purchasing BP Fuel Cards worked!

      29/11/2017 Velocity Offer 0 5,000 5,000

Make sure you have some free time! My Operator had never processed the cards before and was on the phone for help for ages!

  • Anyone bought a Virgin gift voucher and know if that counts for this deal?
