    Damn!

Am in the market for a cordless hammer drill, but am invested in the Ryobi One + family.

This deal may be too hard to pass up though???

    • +1

what about this deal Ryobi One+ 18V Hammer Drill Kit , not sure if I should post it or not cant find rrp

      • +1

Called around a few stores about that one yesterday, but the are an older model and no one had stock.

The replacement for that kit is this:

        https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-brushless-hammer-d…

…which might be ok (not sure how the drill in this pack compares to the DeWalt?)?

        • +1

oh ok, not sure about how they compare

      • +1

The Ryobi one+ is geared at occasional use, the dewalt is a trade brand. It's next level quality.

A family member who is a tradie said their Ryobi one+ drill's motor burned out pretty quickly whereas he has had dewalt/makita tools used daily for over 10 years without issue.

        • +2

So the Ryobi will be fine for the 95% of people on here that will use it for 42sec per year :)

    • With deals like this there is no reason to "invest" in one particular system IMO.
Over the years with various deals I've gotten batteries for Ozito, Ryobi and AEG. Go figure though all the skin deals I see at my Bunnings are usually DeWalt and Bosch >_<

    • This deal is amazing.

I have a milwaukee brushless hammer drill (so good!), I have no need for this drill, but at this price I can barely resist the urge to buy it!! haha

      Be strong….be strong!!

      • +2

I have Panasonic with 5ah batt and just bought two of these?? I need to restrict OZB to a daily limit, today may have to go into overdraft.

      • +1

Yes, I have Milwaukee (M18 Fuel) drills and they are just about as good as it gets but this DeWalt at this price is a top deal

    • This is a cracking deal and the Flexvolt range of tools available are great. 2 x 54V Compound Mitre (that can run on 240V as well) is a game changer. As the rep said, the 54V opens up to bring out US corded tools as a cordless option.

  • +3

    Good deal.
Looks like they are trying to match the price of the AEG - https://www.bunnings.com.au/aeg-18v-6-0ah-brushless-hammer-d…

    • +1

Pretty inexperienced with these brands/systems, should I get AEG or DeWALT kit?

Also, are these deals just until the end of the day? Couldn't find any details on the websites.

      Cheers!

      • +2

Unless you're a tradie get whatever has the best range for your future needs. Worst thing about buying cordless tools is ending up with a whole bunch of incompatible batteries and chargers. I went down the fatmax path (dewalts poorer cousin) during mater's demise and love it.

        • I have to agree.
I don't think there is much difference between in DeWalt and AEG in terms of quality.
I picked up a 14.4V DeWalt from masters and while it is great, no one else sells the 14.4v gear anymore. If you're going to continue buying cordless kit, then you'll need to look at the range and what is going to suit your needs.

    • +1

The kit is cheaper than the skin!!!

      • The AEG one, yeah I have no idea.
I bought one as it's almost the cost effective way of getting the battery and charger.
a 4AH battery and Charger is $149, but the kit with a 6AH is $199. In the Kit the charger can't charge the 12V, to me thats a non issue though

  • +2

Hubby has this one and loves it. Highly recommend

  • +1

Is this deal for today only? Couldn't find.

    • +2

going by one of DeWalt FB posts its today only

  • +1

what is the difference between this one and Bosch 18V Cordless Drill Driver?

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/bosch-18v-cordless-drill-driver_….

Is it more powerful for DeWALT?

    Thanks

    • the bosch does not have hammer drill mode, green bosch drills are their budget models, the dewalt will be far superior quality

    • +4

That one is 2 x 1.5Ah batteries, the DeWalt is 6Ah.

DeWalt is brushless motor. Basically, it is better. Build quality also much better.

The Bosch is more DIY suited, DeWalt is tradie durability. Even if you think you will only do small projects go for the DeWalt as you never know what you will need to drill in the future. At that price, trust me go with DeWalt.

    • -1

And the Bosch green has an annoying delay on startup.

The Bosch blue is superior to the dewalt in terms of power

    • Bosch Green is recommended for domestic use where as Bosch Blue is professional use.

  • +1

I own one, love it. I also have a corded Bosh blue drill and it has it's own uses. This Dewalt comes with a nice light at the front, perfect for working around dark areas.

  • Will be getting into the DIY stuff around the home next year, but very inexperienced with power tools. Can a hammer drill be used as a impact driver, or will I need to purchase one separately?

    • impact drivers are great but if you just need to drive screws this will do that fine

    • +15

Stanvsamb, the way I see it it really depends on the job at hand, your budget and most of all your expectations!

I used to buy the 'best of the best' no matter what the cost. $600 Hitachi NiMH Impact Driver, $700 Pro Bosch 150mm Random Orbital Sander, massive $1200 AEG Rotary Hammer Drill… the list went on. Bought most of it 10-12 years ago for a big house reno that never eventuated so most of was only very lightly used and safely stored ever since. All but the Hitachi Impact driver failed spectacularly at one time or another and usually right when I need it most so I now purposely go out of my way to buy the cheapest 'decent' stuff I can with the easiest replacement warranty as that suits my usage & expectations. Got a full time job but currently doing a major timber house reno (slowly rebuilding half a 110 year old workers cottage from scratch riddled with termite damage & rot) on the weekends as that's all the time I have available. Love the Ozito cord & cordless range because it usually does the job, it's easily affordable and if anything fails I'm a 25 minute round-trip to a hassle-free, brand new, replacement unit allowing me to keep the momentum on the work required… and this was my mistake with the expensive stuff because I stupidly believed by paying more it would be bullet-proof reliable and last longer like power tools in the olden days but unfortunately it just lightened my pockets and failed at the worst possible time ruining the project outcome in the process and depending what you're doing that can be close to priceless in itself.

Recently bought the Ozito Brushless Hammer Drill and Brushless Impact Driver as well as a heap of 4.0Ah batteries when they went on sale. Even though they may not compete spec-wise on paper I was blown away with how precise and powerful they were so don't disregard the Ozito gear when you're looking at building your arsenal. My 2c anyway ;)

      • +3

Agreed, Ozito have come a long way.

        • +2

They're just badging generic Einhell stuff as their own but yes, a lot of this generic gear is pretty impressive these days. Lot of junk still out there too but the junk usually doesn't include the excellent over-the-counter warranty like Ozito stuff through Bunnings… and to me that's worth more than any wanky brand name :) Wouldn't ever want to use anything from Bunnings for fine woodwork or other craftwork though, there are many other suppliers who can help with the more specialised gear but for general DIY and housey stuff it's perfect.

      • +1

Then buy this Brushless drill at the next 20% off sale, mixed with a $5 loyalty credit and buy a Supercheap gift card from woolies at 5% off…you will be a happy camper (sub $60).

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/340140

It is actually better than the specs read. Fights above its weight in bang for buck. I have one cheapie (albeit brushless and 13mm impact) and 1 decent drill. Pilot hole drill left in the cheapie with the decent drill doing the heavy lifting. Impact driver for tech screws etc.

        • Wow this is one of those deals that makes me wish I was still scouring the new deals section of OB religiously. Even though the OP is a great deal I just don't need to spend that much to drill the occasional hole in brick and concrete, 67 bucks for the SCA deal would suit me perfectly

      • +1

once I purchased Ozito electric lawnmower about 5 years ago. I will never buy that brand again, it was in that poor quality

        • Yeah, fair enough but you've got to keep in mind that brands & products nowadays can change dramatically 5 years. Doesn't take long for a so-so brand to turn around into something pretty exceptional these days and vise-versa… doesn't take long for a historically good brand to turn to crap either!

      • I bought hitachi cordless in Japan 13 years ago and after tonnes of use still going strong. Had to get a step down transformer tho

        • Yeah, they're killer little machines and I'll be keeping mine for various jobs but I'll need another battery soon (my 3rd).

    • +3

No a hammer drill cannot be used as an impact driver. Doesn't mean you can't use it to drive small screws into pine but it wont drive roofing screws into battens.

  • Brushless for sub-$200 …. Can anyone say what the battery life is on this?

    • +3

6Ah so the battery life would be amazing

      • +5

        Agreed. I have 2 x 3Ah and 1 x 4Ah which are great. 6Ah would be amazing.

My only advice if you are a newbie is that the battery alone will weigh 2kg. It's like carrying around an extra 2lt coke vs 600ml bottle. My 3Ah weighs about 700grams. This thing will be heavy when using so just keep that in mind.

        • +2

          Specifications:

          Battery Capacity: 6.0Ah
          Voltage: 18V, 54V
          Weight: 0.9kg

        • +1

According to the Bunnings site the 6ah battery weighs 1.1kg - which isn't too bad.

But even so, the weight of this drill plus battery looks as if it's significantly heavier than my Bosch Blue 13mm corded drill - and that's a real beast, not recommended for one-hand usage!

        • +1

          @noob999:

I stand corrected, I looked at a listing that was for 2 batteries. Then it's like carrying a 1.25ltr bottle compared to 600ml bottle :)

    • +4

all retailers that stock dewalt have the deal, bunnings just priced it lower so they dont get price beaten & have to drop it another 10%

  • Anyone know the difference between OP drill and this one? https://www.bunnings.com.au/dewalt-18v-li-ion-2-speed-hammer…

This other one includes two XR 1.3Ah Li-ion batteries, vs OP's single 6.0Ah battery. What's better for home use?

    • +1

I guess the link you provided is not brushless

      • Good call. I missed that. Thanks.

    • +2

If you are only doing domestic stuff, the latter will be just fine with the convenience of 2 smaller size batteries.

The original deal is great in value, but if you don't need it, don't force yourself to buy it.

I actually have the one you listed and use it for commercial use (sign installation, drilling metal, wood, etc), and although this is a great deal I am even asking myself do I really need it? In my case I am after another battery which in this case is $120 alone, but 6Ah battery is very heavy and I don't even know if I should get it.

      Horses for courses.

      • agree, the battery is the deal here..

  • I have one and it's been running years with solid performance. the battery is interchangeable with other dewalt tools. battery performance is quite good too. my battery is 4Ah only. could only imagine this being more powerful and longer lasting.

    • +2

Did you get that drill from this deal?
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/150832

I find the 4ah outstanding. I went the whole day on one battery with my roof job.

      • yeah mate. you are a champion!

    • 6amps doesn't make it more powerful, but will last 50% longer.

      • I actually once thought this but some research proved me wrong

  • +1

    Fantastic deal.

I bought a Panasonic 18V hammer drill with 2x 4amp batteries for $330 and I thought that was a great deal.

  • +1

If you get this make sure you also get a spare battery.

A 1.5 amp or so battery would be ideal. 6amps is heavy for day to day use.

If you are doing a lot of work, the last thing you want is to wait to charge your only battery.

    • +2

That is a lot of work to flatten a 6Ah battery before you get tired or have a chance to charge it at all.

      • +1

If you're screwing decking or buggle screws into timber even 6amps won't last all day.

Why risk it? Just get a second small battery which is lighter for everyday use too.

  • anywhere i can buy this online even if for 199 ? thanks!

  • Stupid question but i have a Dewalt impact drill and drill which i bought in a kit from Bunnings with a 2 x 1.3amp batteries.

Will i be able to use these with the 6amp battery?

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/dewalt-18v-li-ion-2-piece-cordle…

    • yes.

  • Looks like Trade Tools have it in stock $189 + $6.95 delivery (brisbane)

    http://www.tradetools.com/dewaltblackfriday

  • What's the usual price of these at Bunnings?

  • +1

FYI bunnings Alexandria have 14 left…. make that 12 left as of right now

  • +1

    No case for this deal.

Any idea of the cost of a suitable high quality case?

    • Yeah I am looking for a case as well. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

      • +1

With my quite old ozito kit I got a bag, and I find it much better than a case. I believe bunnings sell bags for as low as 15 bucks that would suit this kit.

  • +2

Snagged up this one along with a Bunnings Snag. Today has been a good day. Thanks OP

  • I’m heavily invested in hitachi stuff, but this is a fantastic deal. Looking forward to Amazons launch as tool price should start to fall (I buy most of my tools from amazon US)

  • For very occasional use - how long would the battery stay charged between uses? Or would I end up having to charge it every time.

    • +3

Li-ion batteries stay good for 6 months to a year easy, especially if you are light duty and you have a 6Ah battery like this

  • Just started by journey with One+ gardening, but this deal means I'll use DeWalt for the power tools side of things :)

  • +1

Thanks OP got one, 2 left on display at Vermont South VIC

  • About 25 left at Sydney tools Alexandria 👌🏼 Just grabbed two

  • +2

Thanks so much to OP & all commentary.

    I grabbed one in Burleigh

I found it cheaper at Mitre 10, so got the 10% price match at Bunnings

    http://www.brisbanetoolandhardware.com.au/product_info.php?p…

    Total $166.50.

    All the best

    Al

Went to Kent Town SA store, they never received any stock. Super nice lady called Modbury and put a hold on their last one for me (just got it, so they are out, too). Prospect is out, Marion should have a few left (as of two hours ago). She also said that Windsor Gardens won't have any (old store doesn't get new stock, the new mega-Bunnings will open next week).

  • +1

This is a promo kit and will not normally be available in this configuration. Bunnings was selling it at $199 as a promo meaning limited stock but it was reduced to $188 today.

Considering the battery alone sells for $149 and you get that plus a charger and a quality brushless drill it's a no brainier

I bought a couple just to get the batteries and sell the drill and charger separately

    • Talk about an appropriate username!

Thanks for the tip. I've just done the same. I'm still not sure if this 6Ah battery will be bigger and heavier than I want, but I can always sell it as well and buy a smaller one.

  • All out of stock in canberra. Local store said they never received any.

  • +2

Sydney tools website has it for $188. In stock and free delivery…to Canberra at least.

    https://sydneytools.com.au/dewalt-dcd796t1-xe-18v-6-0ah-li-i…

  • +1

Awesome deal. Got it from Sydney Tools with free delivery for $188. And in just before it turns into a pumpkin!! Cheers to all above.

  • +1

Got one from Sydney tools, free shipping was a nice bonus! No Bunnings where I live

  • +2

Still available from Sydney Tools for $188 at 7:30am Saturday. I was about to swear because I'd missed out but now I'm a happy bunny :). Thanks OP.

  • Yup. Got one from Sydney tools as well. Free shipping to townsville, pretty impressive.

  • +1

Picked up one as well from Sydney Tools for $188 delivered to Melbourne.
I've been waiting for a good hammer drill to come on special.

  • It's worth it just for the battery + charger alone….

What to do… What to do… Can one really have too many drills?

    • Yes. Ask my husband. However, this one is for ME. At least I'll always know where it is!

  • +1

just got one from bunnings oxley for $166.50

  • For those who are after a impact driver, I got myself a bosch GDR18V-EC yesterday from this deal for $114.40 (skin only). Thought it was a decent price. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/344732#comment-5335812
