Their produxts are just overpriced as shit n it's not a brand that people froth over. It's just that simple

Overpriced big time. Perfect example $95 golf umbrella reduced to $29.95.

There customer service was rude and obnoxious. Few customers who had any problems went back because they were treated like shit.
Any company that bad deserved to go bust- in this case justice was done.

The news sites are making out this is some massive going out of business sale and handbags are being snapped up cheap. The only thing is they are referring to the outlet which is exactly the same as it has been. You've been able to get these prices for weeks and weeks. No prices had dropped further on the normal stuff, this is so stupid. Anyway, all this unjustified interest has killed their site.

    • Other countries have 'fake news' the same as us, but we also have 'fake sales'

Look at all the local 'Black Friday' sales here, nearly all of which were just the same old pweak sales prices with a 'Black Friday' heading plonked on them.

I really hope that Amazon shake things up here, but I am not that confident.

  • Around a year ago I bought a couple of the same bags cheaper. There’s a mark up I can see.

  • website is basically non-responding at the moment.

Looking at the prices, even on discount, and I can see why they went into administration.

  • Sorry to see another Ozzie brand fall … Oroton bags are very good quality. What a shame!

  • Slim pickings left in outlet store.
Was able to snap off one bag though

Pray that Oroton can survive this. crisis. It is the only Australian brand that I buy. I love it especially for gifts. Too many jobs at risk. This is the budiest time of the year, they couldn't even wait until after xmas? they reporting would lookhealthier after xmas.

    • How many jobs are required to place orders from China?

      • At least RM Williams still have a factory in Adelaide.

      • ? retail sales jobs. They have loads of stores all over Australia. Why am I neg for caring about people. So cruel.

Retail sales and service jobs are primarily about money circulating in the economy. If the money dries up the jobs disappear very quickly as people stop spending. What is more important are the jobs that add value and especially export income.

          It's still a job nonetheless.

          @sal78:
There are jobs that add value and jobs that add cost.
There are jobs that result in a product that delivers a product on which further value add can be performed or a measurable saving.

Retail sales positions are primarily a cost. We could assume that retail spend will remain constant and therefore employees will be able to find alternative employment in a retail position, however the reality is that bricks & mortar spend continues to decline.

The problem is that retail sales jobs add to the cost of a product, which means a higher cost of living. When Mitsubishi and then Ford chose to close down, the Labor Government could have chosen to respond by imposing tariffs, however that would have pushed up the price of the majority of vehicles resulting in a spike in inflation or people would have settled for a lower standard car.

Reality is harsh. For example, Uber (and other) drivers need to be aware that their employment is temporary and the end goal is to replace them.

  • Man it's been said above but with those prices, no wonder they're closing. RIP

  • just curious if anyone is able to buy one. I always got pages said the site is on high demand issue.

  • OZ FAILED

  • Lol @ whoever actually pays full price for oroton

  • Serious question. Wouldn't you be classified as "cheap" when carrying a handbag brand that has gone under??

    • It's not that type of brand, no one ever had an Oroton bag for the sake of having an "Oroton" bag. They had to survive on merit and because of this it was actually much nicer stuff than the big brands that can put out any crap with a logo.

I don't really comprehend the concept of appearing "cheap", let alone being based on a handbag. I am lucky enough to be able to have some very nice things, but none of them are for looks or to impress.

  • I've got few bags and wallet from Oroton. Got it few years back in outlet stores and believe me, there were people lining up at the door during those 70% sales. heaps of chinese buying it. But now when I go to the outlet store, hardly anyone inside.

They hardly got any good bags anymore. I found the current design and style just aint that great. Quality is OK i guess but won't pay $300-$400 full price for it.

It wasn't only until very recently they started launching different colours. Oroton used to be very beige and black. There simply wasn't any variety. I'm sure people got sick of the lack of offering and went elsewhere. For the price of some of their products, you could get Kate Spade, Michael Kors, etc. I'm not arguing whether KS or MK are better in terms of quality, but they at least brought vibrancy to bags and accessories for mass consumption.

I like Oroton stuff, but looking at the sale prices compared to resellers on ebay, a lot of it still isn't that amazingly priced to warrant impulse.

  • One of the articles someone linked said it nicely. Theyre targeting an audience who can't afford they stuff or don't find their products appealing. I've always thought Oroton was a brand for old people, perhaps quality products, but boring. For that price, I rather get cK, mimco, Kate spade, or even the cheaper Guess.

  • They priced their stuff stupidly why pay xxx for oroton when you could pay a little more for much better much known or quality brand. Even worse still everything went to outlet so why would anyone ever pay full price for it.

even with the discounts i wouldnt buy any of there shit

  • -1

Overpriced crap! Can't imagine people paid for it, with no brand name even.

  • +2

Oroton fills the market for people that don't want to spend so much but still want some quality. Not everyone can afford Gucci and LV. It's the same target as Michael Kors, COACH etc mid end. At least it's Australian.

A lot of retail staff will lose their jobs if they close all their stores. That's sad.
