Dell DFO is back with some more refurbished/as new products.

Refurbished U2415 are $234, with 104 available (through I imagine some are gone by now). This is an excellent monitor, it has minimal bezels in a 1920x1200 at 60hz, 16:10 ratio. I personally used these for a dual monitor set up and can attest to just how amazing the picture quality is. One note however is that grey to grey is 6 - 8ms, so might not be suitable for fast paced FPS games.

To make an order press the "Chat now" button at the top and make sure you have the BUNDLE number handy.

  • Both S2716DG monitors are gone already :(

Anyone know when the list gets updated ?

    • Yeah around 10am but can be before or after

      • Every week ?

        • +2

          usually daily
I've been keeping an eye out for the S2716DG and S2417DG and I haven't seen them in a while.
When they appear they're usually gone in seconds and the live chat team are slow as all hell with actioning this stuff.
          Very very fustrating

        • +2

@hybridx: I've been keeping an eye out as well recently, it seems they only update it once most of the products listed have been cleared, or whenever the new batch of stocks gets updated.

For example one product is sold, they will not take it off the listing next day until there is a major update.

    • +1

I managed to get one of the S2716DGs. Damn good price for 27 inch, g-sync and 1440p. TN is a negative but it's one of the better ones.

      • cant seem to connect to the online chat :(

  • Lots of cheap laptops too. Good to check out if needing a laptop for school next year.

  • nice, currently using the monitor bought from 20% ebay deals for $340.

  • +6

I think the P4317Q for $648 is the real deal here.

    • Not bad but no HDR unfortunately.

Honestly if your in the market for a new monitor worth waiting until 2018 when her monitors will hit the mass market.

      • PG27UQ is supposed to be out in Q1 2018. 4K UHD 144Hz G-Sync.

        • Oooh boy, that looks like a near perfect monitor for me! Any idea if there's larger sizes as well? One of those but 40 inches VESA compatible is exactly what I'm after!

        • Yeh that looks nuts! Unfortunately I doubt I'll be able to afford it haha :(

  • What’s it mean by “as new”?

    • Usually means it was delivered to a customer, usually a corporate customer, but then returned. Normally I’ve seen that either the customer changed their mind, the wrong models were sent or simply the customer didn’t want the item or it wasn’t suitable.

I’ve never had any issues with Dell. The last monitor was sold “as new” but hadn’t been opened at all. Ie. a fresh boxed item.

      • My refurb laptop was less than a month old. Got it 3 or 4 times cheaper than retail price. I win.

  • +2

Grabbed P4317Q for $648! Thanks OP!

  • Thanks op. Ordered UP3216Q AS NEW model :)

    • I'm tempted by that one too.
Want to use it for photo work.

  • Bundle R299TUAU (3 x refurb UP2716D)_is already gone

  • +1

What's the experience like with refurbished monitors from Dell? I'm interested in getting the UltraSharp U2515H Monitor for $288.

    • +1

I bought my U2412M few years ago. For refurbished model, apart from opened packaging which is re-sealed, they are like new.

If you buy "As new" product, they are simply new items which they can't sell as new for whatever reason (e.g. cancelled order, change of mind returns, etc)

      • Thanks.

    • +2

Haven't bought a monitor, but I did order a scratch & dent laptop recently. It works perfectly and the scratch is hardly discernible. They are easy to chat with for any problems too.

    • +1

Using mine right now 6 years going strong knock on wood

  • +1

U3415W is a great price, unfortunately I already bought LG 32" 4K monitor from eBay recently :(

P4317Q sounds like an excellent deal as well.

  • U2415 16:10 vs U2414H 16:9, is it worth the upgrade?

I have U2414H at the moment and occasionally game on my PC.

Hopefully by the time someone answers me they still have stock lol.

    • Not worth it, go bigger to at least 27" or 32"/43" even better!

There is no going back if you are used to big screen :)

      • Don't see many 27" listed at the moment.

Plus, the U2415 is at a sweet spot price-wise below $250.

    • If you already have the u2414h currently I don't see the point in changing unless you really want the 16:10.
I use the u2414h at work and love them so much I just reserved two of the u2415 for home use. Be warned there was a long wait on the Dell chat.

  • If it says refurbished does that mean it once broke?

    • +2

Usually not, most likely just opened by customer, then returned for whatever reason.

I've bought a few items from them, they have always been like 100% new, except the packaging.

    • Two of my top-end U3415W monitors that I rejected (third was acceptable) got resold as refurbished. They monitors weren’t broken just unacceptable.

      • In what way were they unacceptable?

        • IPS Glow.

    Anyone used Dell UltraSharp 24 Monitor | U2415 24"
Is it good for computing? Any pros and cons if any. Thanks

    • +1

I have one I use regularly. It's a great monitor. Only con that I have with it is that it's not Ultra HD, though that's not necessarily a problem.

It's also 16:10 ratio which means you have slightly more realestate than most 24" monitors (which are typically 16:9).

      • -1

But I think it is full HD?

        • Yeah, it's 1920x1200. I owned one once, great monitor for daily use.

    • +1

We use them at work, they are pretty nice.

  • +2

I just want a 1440p 144hz monitor with possibly G-Sync for Christmas but can't seem to get hold of one with a discount.

    • Those are top of the line right now.

  • If only they had the UP2718Q. It's a 4K UHD monitor which has HDR.

    • Edit: wrong model, the have the P2715Q there.

    • IS it real HDR or fake HDR aka Dell HDR?

  • Anyone know difference between S2718HN and S2718H?

  • Anyone able to logon to the online sales chat?

    • +2

Probably being hammered by OzBargainers now :)

    • 40 people in queue probably took about an hour

    • Took me an hour and a half to get through on Chat. Started at 42nd person in the queue. Yes, definitely Ozbargained.

I'd probably get downvoted for this, but I'd be wary of Dell products from now on, purchased a brand new Dell PC and have had problems. Can't imagine what what refurbished or 'as new' conditions are.

    • Is that the first time you've ever had problems with an electronic product?

      • No I've had problems before, but never with a desktop PC where you'd expect would already be tested before being sold.

This has been my experience so far and it's not a positive one.

        • Heheh. Here's the thing with electronics. Just because they work out of the box doesn't mean there won't be problems later.

If you had a problem right out of the box, Dell would have organized an immediately next day delivery of a new unit. They'll leave you a label to ship back the faulty one.

          Their service is first class.

I've dealt with their warranty a number of times, and each time it's always been excellent. Best I've ever dealt with, and I would buy from them again if I had to choose an OEM for a PC.

The most recent time I dealt with them was a few months ago. A year ago I'd bought a monitor from the Outlet which comes with 12 months warranty instead of 3 years. It was only a few days away from being out of warranty when it died during a thunderstorm. I was expecting them to give me a refurb. Not only did they give me a brand new unit that arrived the next day (I called them late in the afternoon on a Monday and still got it next day), it was an updated model that is improved and had only just released a month or two earlier. That's some world class service. Lenovo and HP are not going to give you this level of service, and they won't be this fast.

My only complaint is that their call center is in India and the line is not good quality, so you get a lot of noise and it's hard to hear the CSR sometimes, and it doesn't help that the Indian accent can be hard to understand sometimes.

        • Did you even read the post that I linked back to?

It seems you got a good response, but I didn't. They didn't even offer for me to send it back, but rather offer parts replacement(mobo and ram) instead.
Which is not ideal for a PC with various parts that already failed.

Anyway I'm not here to fight. I'm just giving my experience for others to be aware of.

  • Finally managed to get in after a queue of 40 odd people, however when he couldn't answer a question about the configuration of a laptop, he just left the session! Poor form.

Just ordered one of each below.

    • u2414h
    • u2417h

I've got a 2417h, and looking to get a second monitor

    • i got the u2414h, and i got them to quote me a u2417h

    • U2414H is usually $210-220, the u2417h closer to $250.

  • I got on with the chat guy first thing this morning, he confirmed availability and said he would send me an invoice/quote 'later in the day' Is that normal for Dell? (haven't got the invoice btw.)

    • +4

I have not received my invoice yet also. He did say that it might come today or tomorrow because they are very busy with orders.

      • OK thanks for that.. Just didn't want to miss out.. :)

        • Same for me. Told me item was available and would get back to me with invoice late today or early tomorrow. Have ordered from them before and they got back to me within a day with confirmation.

        • @astrotrain: Any update? I am waiting for my invoice too.

        • @aec:

Received mine at 1am, looks like he had a busy day

        • @iforgotmysocks:

I received my invoice at 3:20am and the same guy is working again today to get payment :P

        • @GerrardLFC: has he contacted you for payment yet?

        • @aec:

I just got off the phone with him. I called the 1300 number on the quote he emailed.

        • @GerrardLFC: rang them just after saw your comment. at the end, was asked to leave a message …

        • @aec:

Was out yesterday but yup received email quote will chase up today

        • +1

          @aec:

Call the 1300 number and select like you are making a new purchase. Reception will come on then ask to make payment for your order and she transfers you direct to your sales rep.

        • @GerrardLFC: Any luck?

I did that and got told they would ring me back. hasn't happened.

        • @GerrardLFC: The rep actually did ring me back last night just past 8pm from MALAYSIA, but i didnt pick the call and thought that was a scam or something. He instead sent me a couple of emails which provided a chat link. I chatted with him this morning and made the payment. The estimated delivery date will be next thursday. hopefully receive my new monitor before xmas. Thanks for your reply.

        • @EightImmortals:

Tell them you want to make payment and have been waiting all day. Rep should come on the phone quickly. Takes less than 5min to process payment.

I made my payment yesterday and monitor is coming on Monday

        • @GerrardLFC: Yeah just got off the phone and it's now been paid for. Apparently the first rep is on holiday until Tuesday so I was told to go through the online chat service. So I did that and that guy said ""I am sorry but our tools our not working right now, It might take 24-48 hours to fix the issue." So I rang Dell back and they put me through to someone else who took my CC details and now it's all happening. From the sounds of it they are flat out there for some reason. There wasn't that many monitors at the DFO site? I would have waited but we're going away in a few days and I needed it done before that. :)

  • +1

Dell are not lumping the same items together anymore. Now every unit gets its own entry, which makes it difficult to sift through the huge list, and when you talk to the rep, you have to try every part number until you get one that hasn't been sold.

  • Thanks OP, ordered U2415H, have been keeping an eye on it for a long while

  • Anyone have thoughts on what the better set up is: 2x U2415 side by side or 1x U3415W? Usage would be predominantly for work (productivity focus), occasionally some movies/videos, but very little gaming.

    • If you have the space, get 2 monitors. You'll have more real estate. You can do one thing on one screen and another on the other screen. You can do this with one screen on Windows 10, but both windows will be squashed.

You can watch a movie on one screen and use the other to do something else.

That would not be feasible on a single screen setup.

With 2 screens you get an uncluttered view, with nothing covering other windows, sharing the one screen.

If you're gaming, I would go for the one screen because you're not going to game over 2 screens, plus there's a bezel splitting the screens in the middle. Although I like to game on one screen and have a FAQ or map open on the other.

  • How does the process normally work with the outlet store, I chatted with Dell this morning and got told "I have one". They then asked for contact information and they would send a quote later but have not heard anything. How quickly do they normally send out the quotes? Thanks

  • +1

Thanks OP. I grabbed a U3415W. They are selling out fast

    • Have you already received the invoice and make the payment? waiting for my invoice.

      • I was told by my pal Komal would get back to me tomorrow

        • Told same. Received my proforma invoice at 5:02 this morning.

      • I got an email this morning telling me that orders are being processed in turn, and that mine would be coming later today, or tomorrow. They have a large volume of orders to process. Did you order the U3415W?

        • yes, ordered an as new u3415w

        • I printed out the invoice, signed it, scanned and emailed it back to the rep. He is supposed to ring me back for credit card number, but not happened yet:(

        • @aec: Thanks for letting me know more about the process. I still have not received my invoice yet. I must be patient.

        • @aec:

I was promised delivery of my hardware today (15 December). I went online to track my delivery and discovered that it has not even been shipped yet. Dell still has the hardware shown as "in production". The new estimated delivery date is now December 28.

Since these devices should just be sitting idly in a warehouse somewhere, I do not see why they need to be in production for several weeks before they are shipped.

  • So has anyone got their gear yet?

My monitor was die to be delivered tomorrow (Fri) but now the status page says 28th of December?????

    • Checked my order status and it's the same. Normally I would've got it by now.

      • Cheers, was just on chat with them and the CSR tells me it was shipped on the 11th so not far off. The order status page still says the 28th and that it hasn't been despatched. Glitch in the matrix….

        • Mine was meant to come Monday then it changed to 28th December.

I called them yesterday and they told me I will get it by Friday…

        • @GerrardLFC: Dell use Startrack as their courier. Can you track your order through them? Mine doesn't even show up.
