8611

[UPDATED 07/12 10:33AM] : Some people are complaining about price has gone up before promo starts and provided some old caches file to prove. This is not true. As all of you know, prices are up and down everyday. Just like most of other retailers, we all have a price tracking system to follow the market prices.Regarding this promotion, we just decided to run yesterday and did not touch any pricing at all.

Just talked to Razer and came up with wicked deal for you guys.

30% OFF All RAzer peripherals

Is that off your normal lowered prices, or off their inflated RRP?

    • +47

Off whatever listed price in our website. And no, we will not up the price before the sale starts

      • +10

Oh no, I wasn't implying you guys would raise the price at all. Just that the RRP of Razer gear is obscene, so 30% off that would probably be more than most places sell it for normally. That's a damn good deal otherwise

      • +1

Can I come in today and hide the products I want to buy? Where would I put them so the cleaners or staff dont notice?

        • +8

I doubt you could do that without sneaking out the back. I'm pretty sure the staff are also the cleaners

        • +7

          @Divitini: They clean at MSY?

        • +1

I guess they do clean, otherwise where did all that material saying "Stop breaking Australian Consumer Laws" go?

      • I don't care what anyone says MSY FO LYFE!!

      • +2

The only thing I was looking at was the gaming pads, but both have had a 15% price hike sometime in the last 2 hours. Poor form.

Pity since I was going to make the trip anyway for some ram.

      • +16

And no, we will not up the price before the sale starts

Razer Blackwidow Ultimate Stealth 2016 was $139 this morning now $145
Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2016 was $119 this morn now $135

        ???

        • +2

          Well spotted.

        • +8

Razer Mamba Chroma was $158 now $199.

If you're gonna price jack, at least don't say that you won't do it.

      • +7

Absolutely pathetic. The prices have been jacked up.

Do you want to end up like them?

        https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/kogan-pays-32400-penal…

“It is simply unacceptable for businesses to raise prices before applying a discount in order to give consumers the misleading impression that they are obtaining a larger percentage discount than is actually the case," ACCC Acting Chair Dr Michael Schaper said.

        • +3

          I'm already filing a complaint.

      • +9

Razer Mamba was $158 yesterday, now $199.

        • +5

          Yep.

Last night, 70% Off BlackWidow Chroma X was $124.6.

Now it's jacked up to $139.3.

Scum business practices at its finest.

      • +2

Let's hope you revert the prices back before MSY is on the receiving end by the ACCC.

  • +2

Holy shit 30% off MSY Razor prices… That's pretty good. Don't know how you managed that. Props.

BTW, i constantly check your deal of the days. Hoow is it that your laptops on deal of the day goes out of stock like an hour or two later?

    • Many MSY customers order for pickup which is the way to do it.

  • +14

i still have no idea why msy has one of the most atrocious websites esp given its a tech retailer.

    good deal though

    • +1

apparently an upgrade is coming early 2018

    • +4

its to give the impression they are frugal with the glitter to pass on the savings to their loyal, consumer rights void, grey import purchasing customers

    • +9

      parts.pdf is the Bible

      • +1

I read it before I go to bed, and it is the first thing I see when I open my eyes in the morning…

    • +1

I hate to say it but government websites these days are more intuitive than the MSY website tbh

      • +5

Whoa, whoa, let's not go overboard.

    • +3

      PARTS.pdf is all you need.
Anything else is just a bonus.

    • +3

It's a noob filter so all the people who want to ask a million questions go to places like HN and JB HiFi rather than clog the line at your local MSY.

    • -1

It has the best website, because it keeps away mums and dads of ozbargain and all those yuppies who buy Apple, Beats and Bose products.

  • +1

So I guess I'll be going in Saturday morning and seeing what's left

  • +1

No delivery kills the deal for me. If I made the effort to go to the store, its a lottery of what we will be in stock when I get there.

    • You can email them for pickup

    • +4

In Geelong, it's a lottery if the store is even going to be open.. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

      • +22

        \ you dropped this…

    • -2

Pick up the phone and call them? takes 5mins and they can tell you if they have stock

      • +8

BULLSHIT they dont answer the phone, do they even know they have a phone?

        • +4

Yes because you can hear it ringing the entire time you're in the store. Maybe they can't hear it but I've called them while standing in line, heard the phone ring and ring and ring, then stop when I hung up. No one even flinched.

      • +3

5mins… Of conversation, after the 50min on hold waiting for the call to be answered.

      • +5

        Call MSY?

No chance. Not even worth trying.

      • 5 mins, call back? Looooool

  • Cheapest mouse I can find is deathadder expert still $65 before discount.

  • Do I get 1 year or 2 year warranty….

    :)

  • +3

could have been a good deal … if it was anything else besides RAZER ..

  • +2

What's with the "NOTICE ORDERED BY THE FEDERAL COURT OF AUSTRALIA"?
Nice sale though! I will try to get to the store this weekend.

    • +13

Does anyone else find it hilarious that directly under "The name you can trust" is a notice ordered by the court for False, misleading and deceptive conduct.

      • +2

Have to say it was many years ago now but I got a faulty ram module that wouldn't post took it back the following weekend and they tried to say they would have to charge me to test it there and then or i could have them send it to the manufacturer on my behalf or go to the manufacturer for an RMA myself… needless to say Kingston were great.. didn't go out my way for them after that (40 min drive each way ) and slowly but surely they were a distant memory, have done a couple of instore pickups from a different store but you can judge a store on their warranty procedures and customer service.

        • +3

Oh yeah MSY have always been pricks to deal with in regards to warranty. I just found the notice directly under the name you can trust pretty funny.

        • +3

@kasp: While I don't begrudge the ACCC or Coumder Affairs doing this to MSY when in (profanity) name are they going to go after eBay and Co (sellers)??!!

        • +1

@Diji1: Most ebay sellers are small time and they don't have the man power to build cases up against any of them. If they did take them to court they would just fold or go bankrupt anyway. Resources are much better spent going after the big players doing shonky things.

    • +1

Maybe that's why the 'Go To Deal' link, takes your to Facebook lol. I'm not on facebook so I guess I miss out.

    • +1

      https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2017/10/msy-fined-750000-for-misl…

with the 10+ year old slogan: "The name you can trust" Irony is not lost on them haha

Despite the misleading practices though, it's still one of the most visited computer shops in australia.

      • +2

To be fair you can trust them to have the lowest prices or close to it. MSY is my default place to go for getting a rough guide to how much something is ..,

  • Will stock be replenished before the sale starts? One of the Razer mice i'm looking at is out of stock in all NSW MSY stores

  • "Instore" - the link in the facebook page takes me to the VIC store. Is this australia wide or only VIC?

  • +1

I had a dream, MSY also had the Razer Phone for 30% off!

  • Why not online? There are limited location where MSY is available. You would sell more if you made it available online.

    • -2

That's the whole reason. I want to sell all the stock but the big boss worry he will lose all the money :)

      • +12

sounds like you should overthrow the big boss in a mutiny and rule MSY

        • +20

Hope he did not see this post

        • @beetran:
I doubt your boss would be browsing around on OzBargain for deals…

      • +2

Your big boss lose more money to fines than to this sale.

  • So they'll still be overpriced and underperforming. Awesome!

  • +1

Holy shit is this real life?

    Does this include the Leviathan?

edit: Damn no leviathan at my store, and no green switches of the V2 Chroma :(

  • Would this offer include the LEVIATHAN / LEVIATHAN MINI speakers?

  • +1

Can I arrange pick-up now, and pay tomorrow with 30% off when I pick up?

    • +2

      Yes you can do that

    • Use the website and choose the pickup from store option - remember you can you can change stores to better find stock levels.

  • Does MSY stock the Chroma stealth keyboards, I havn't seen them at any aussie retailers and Razer haven't had a 50% sale this year ;(

  • +2

We like to see prices. Bargains have prices.

  • +2

At OzBargain the description area resembles a shop window. Yours has been empty 100 minutes. Invest 3 minutes adding 4+ example bargains with direct links and obviously prices to maximise Members' interest. Your 'edit' button is between 'view' and 'revisions'.

    • +1

Don't look at their door in North Melbourne

    • +3

Like it would kill OP to list a few example bargains.

  • +2

If you can find an Ouroboros wireless mouse in stock that will bring it down to ~$118, which is a great price. I've been using one of these for nearly three years and I highly recommend it. I notice that a lot of the items have the following text in the descriptions:

EOL note: These is CLEARANCE Product, limited quantity(normally less than 5), which is available on a first-come, first-serve basis while stock last. The product(s) will vary in condition and might be an Ex-Demo or damaged packaging. If you wish to place a delivery order and wish to check condition of the product beforehand, please email to [email protected]. For instore purchase, please send enquiry email to relevant branch, or check the condition of product over the counter before purchase.

    • Anything with a laser sensor is an auto no buy.

      • ….why's that?

          Watch from 6:00
This guy is my go to for mouse reviews he explains and shows why optical is the better sensor.

This review is a recent one i watched of a mouse i received yesterday.

        • @Axelstrife: AHhh…interesting…ok what about about if they had both? Like the Ouroboros or the Naga Epic Chroma?

        • @Zachary: > ok what about about if they had both? Like the Ouroboros or the Naga Epic Chroma?

I just avoid ALL laser sensor's, my first was a Logitech G502 and immediately noticed it being worse than my cheaper Logitech G402 whcih has an optical sensor and from there i learned that the laser sensors are always worse than optical so i avoid laser sensors.

        • @Axelstrife:

Finding conflicting sources saying g502 is optical or laser.

Any good link to clarify pls?

        • @ozbjunkie: wow you are right, i was thought it had a laser sensor.

        • @Axelstrife:

I was finding info both ways… but logitech website says optical… life is confusing…

    • that text is kind of like a copy paste on anything they have very low stock of.

    • It's because it's not in stock.

      • I saw that lol, but the $9,999 price tag caught my eyes.

  • 30% off is great for those interested. For me personally, I had a Razer mouse once. The left click stuck and the tracking felt off.

For an "extreme gaming" peripheral company, if they can't get a mouse right first time, they don't deserve a second chance in my book.

Haven't looked back since owning a BenQ Zowie. Cost more, but there is a model for every hand size and grip style, the quality and sensor are second to none.

Got the EC2-A based on this guys review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ug9ZoNB1UNk

Aussie veteran Quake player, makes great reviews.

    • Hows the scroll wheel?
I just replaced a G403 with a lancehead i got for free (i wouldn't pay for razer) due to scroll wheel being very loose after a few months.

TBH i didnt notice Zowie even had a DPI button till just now, there isnt even a mention on Mwaves listing of the button so i just ignored it since i need a DPI button.

      • On the Zowie?
Fantastic. I've given it a good amount of use since late last year when I got it (I tend to use scroll for weapon switch than num keys out of habit and lots of page scrolling every day) still going strong.

The DPI is on the bottom, so that might be a factor if you switch between them a lot.

I've always had a problem with Logitech scroll wheels, there is always something off about them, they are too thin, not enough texture, etc. The scroll on my old MX518 just sunk into the mouse after 6 months use one day.

On the Deathadder I had, the scroll just felt off. No matter how many page cycles per scroll, it never felt accurate, same with the laser tracking.

  • Good price for mice

    And a headset: http://www.msy.com.au/waonline/headset/20426-razer-man-o-war…

$10k each, and they're all sold out??! Well I guess someone's got dough to burn on these and decided to buy them all! hahaha….

EDIT: Aww, you don't have Naga Epic Chroma mouse….

Razer. Not again in my household!

  • I work less than 100m from an MSY store, so it's my goto place for computer stuff that I don't buy online.

I just wish the staff there would get some customer (and social) skills. Dealing with them is like pulling teeth.

  • Just booked a new headset for pick-up tomorrow. Great deal! I got five years out of my old Razer Tiamat, so here's to five more!

  • Store Repbeetran on 15/08/2017 - 12:59
Give us 3 more months, something really big coming just before Xmas :)

Is this what you were talking about or are you guys having another build your dream PC sale again ??

    • He was talking about a brand new website and the new online ordering system. But not gonna happen in this year. ETA late January.

  • -6

Ew Razer (yes good deal, but bad product - go Logitech, Corsair, Steelseries…pretty much anything but Razer).

    Neg = It's true.

    • +1

Negged because I think this is true. Am I doing this right?

      • -1

        Yes!

  • MSY and Razer: two companies known for their shit service.

How is MSY even allowed to post here? They had to put a message on their site admitting they are scumbag liars. You'd think a site like OzB, where everyone is always complaining about shitty service and deceptive dealers, would ban a place like MSY on principle.
