Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Cortex-A53 Quad-Core Board w/ 1GB RAM UK VERSION

Limit: 1000 items

My first post on this website. Seems like a very good price. In fact it's the cheapest I think it's ever been on ozbargain? (almost too good to be true). Please post any suggestions on good PSU / Case that is on special. I've bought one myself to run hass.io (home assistant).

Accessories
* 32GB Samsung EVO Plus memory card $9.80 USD
* Aluminum case with fan $7.52 USD ; Best previous deal $9.99 USD here

  • Novice question, what's this one used for?

    • it's a small cheap low powered computer. it runs linux. lots of different uses: eg. server, media centre, home automation hub, etc.

    • If you have kids, I suggest installing kano so they can learn programming through gaming.

      • Do you have one. I read a review where they didn't think the extra cost was worth it.

        • I have the 'kano' hardware, but I agree it is not necessary.

You can download the kano OS and it will run perfectly fine.

      I've loaded Asterisk for VoIP.

Plus I've got Lenny enabled to stop scam callers cold.

      • Would it be considered elder abuse to visit a nursing home and record voices of some of the residents?

        • Not if you get permission.

      • I've currently got a Pi 2 running pi-hole. I'm on NBN with a netphone service that uses my old PSTN handset plugged into a phone port on the back of my modem. Any tips for how I could set up Asterisk?

        • Well, to install Asterisk on a Pi, go HERE.

Just a warning that Asterisk is all CLI. If you want GUI, then pick a flavour, like FreePBX or Elastix, for your install.

    • if you have time. Home Assistant is an open-source home automation platform running on Python 3. Track and control all devices at home and automate control. Perfect to run on a Raspberry Pi.

Do a kit with the pi, the 32 gig card and aluminium case for $50, I'd jump on it, to lazy to add bits after 11 hr work lol

      • +5

tooo lazy to do any thing after 12 hr work :) and still working

        • +1

          Haha your a legand :)

Would you know the difference between this and the au version?

        • +3

@Slippery Fish: no, i don't even know how to play this lol

        • @Slippery Fish: There's no AU version. There's the original UK version, and a Chinese version. After some reading, my preference leans towards the UK version.

        • +1

i have uk and chinese version, they are the same quality and the chinese version is made under license. they did it due to demand and they couldn’t make enough in the uk.

the soc used is actually custom , has floating point arithmetic, which the normal broadcom chip doesn’t, and raspberry pi control who can get the soc so there are no clones …… orange pi, banana pi. use different soc and aren’t 100% compatible ….

so chinese raspberry pi aren’t copy, just made on a different production line.

possibly same that made your mobile phone …

sooooo attempting…..but i already have more pi than i need…….

  • Psu - any micro usb phone charger/wall plug you can find

    • :) link please? so i can better check some thing like this

      • +5

Apparently some issues may arise if you dont use 2.5A PSU

There are also good ones with an inlinr switch to turn on/off

        • Definitely get at least 2A power. I had a 1A and the Pi kept rebooting when I had the raspi Camera plugged in, with an external hdd and mouse + keybaord.

      • It can be powered over micro usb. I personally have mine plugged in to the usb port of something like this.

I think by now most people would have multiple usb chargers/ports that output enough amps to run a pi3… i have like 8.

    • i got few old phone HTC M9, it only output 1A.
and the xiaomi xiaofang camera PSU, only out 1A as well. (shame coz the size is tiny)

so make sure it output near 2A. (coz i used one [xiaofang]for my 3D printer, and it ruined a 10 hour print coz of that…..)

      • how did it ruin the 3d print?

        • I assume his Pi crashed by not getting 2.5a
They are pretty picky about power.

        • yep, the pi feed all the movement to the ramps board. the pi shuts down due to lack of power.

        • @Hornpub:

and the xiaofang camera was connected to the pi's usb port?
so the camera drew too much power from the pi, is that how the pi shutdown?

Stil likely to burn the house down :)

Could I mine 1 bitcoin a day with this?

    • +3

Maybe more like 1 bitcoin in 100 years with this.

    • How much do you think 1 bitcoin is worth at the moment?

    • a monkey with a pen and paper will solve a block before your raspberry pi does

      • +2

        Any deal online for those?

  • +1

Finally I ordered this.. couldn't resist anymore.. hope I can set it up by myself..

  • Fun accessory / starter electronics packs people can recommend?

    • +1

If you have a jaycar or Altronics (the latter one is better imo) have a look at what they have set up there. They usually have pretty cool raspberry pi displays and stuff hooked up to them. Good place to write a shopping list for Aliexpress HAHA

  • This is a great price. I'm tempted to get this, despite having a Pi 3 and Pi 2 running with spare capacity. I really really don't need this.

  • So seeing as shipping is not included is this still a deal?

    • +1

shipping is free :) on both items . But you must purchase them in two transactions to get the free shipping to apply

      {575 / 1000 Sold}

      • +1

Damn. Wish I'd seen your post ten minutes ago. :/
Hey Rep, can I get a credit for postage paid?

        • :)please pm me your order number, i can help you cancel these so you can buy again

        • @MiniInTheBox: but it's expired now so I can't rebuy :(

        • @Jackson: :) i'm applying more for OZB now, will bring this back today later or tomorrow

  • I need one by Monday… Will I be able to get one if I order now?

    • +1

      Lol

    • The one I ordered from a previous deal took about 40 days to be delivered. I don't like your chances.
Even the more expensive shipping methods are a minimum of about a week quoted for delivery.

  • 6 left on the deal. Cases sold out at the low price.

  • +1

    Showing $42 USD? Expired?

  • Same for me. @LightInTheBox are you able to get any more? Thanks

  • Deal expired, same as those cases : (
