        Is there any reason white is cheaper? Is it purely aesthetics? Haven't used these before so just wondering if it's actually noticeable what colour the bulb is.

          Presumably one has a more expensive rgb led/driver, and the other just has a white one. The former can be set to any colour, including white, the latter just produces white light. So rgb has more functionality and more expensive components.

      The bulbs work without the Gateway if that's what you're asking.

      They can be linked to perform functions with the assistance of the gateway if you so wish.

    I have these and the lifx bulbs, the lifx are brighter but the Xiaomi is much much better value for money and are bight enough.

      I've got the RGB. Colours are nice, but get boring very quickly. I usually find my self just playing with the different temperatures of white anyway
