Pulled the trigger on a Chromecast. Now just gotta teach Mum how to use it..
While I like them, they're quite a difficult concept to teach older people.

It even says it's 'in stock' at my local store, but I can't add it to cart or buy it now :/ (Chromecast)
I have worked it out, you just try a different suburb (post code) setting and it'll force ebay to search for stock in a different shop.
Try a neighbouring suburb if you cannot purchase the item.
Ah, the issue I had is on the mobile site it removed the buy it now and add to cart options. When I switched to the desktop site it all went through fine!

I think the major changes were to the shape for better wi-fi reception.
If your current one is working satisfactorily there seems to be little point.
The 2 does not support 4k.
+1 voteI have three chromecasts:-
1. Chrome Cast 1- use it on a 11 year old Sony LCD TV - Slow to load but does the trick. Have noticed that sometimes via netflix its a bit of a hit n miss when trying to 'resume' videos.
2. Chrome cast 2 - Use on Man cave AVR - works well much faster than 1. No need to upgrade unless of course there is a need for another one
3. Chromecast ultra - got it for my smart TV coz I wanted google home to work.

I am getting "This item isn't available in the requested quantity. It may have been purchased already, or the listing has expired." when i try to checkout.
Just so everyone knows, you have to hit "Buy It Now", you can't "Add to Cart" because it's limiting you to use this only for 3 items (not 3 transactions of multiple items so to speak)

Can I stream anything from my phone to the tv? For instance i just want to use this to watch sports that i can only use on a my phone ap?

App needs to support Chromecast. You can stream your phone's screen but it uses a lot of battery and can be choppy.
If an app supports Chromecast then the Chromecast connects to the remote server directly and streams the content. If your phone goes off the stream will continue.
I see, i think AFL ap doesn't have it, but I will check. I didn't think you could stream something without the ap suorting chromecast, from what i am reading right now

I just did a Google and it looks like you can't do it directly. You are meant to view it on a screen of 7 inches max. You could use mirroring but performance might be poor.

Stil not working for me- I clicked buy now (pickup from a store in NSW).
After I click to pay, it tells me "This item isn't available in the requested quantity. It may have been purchased already, or the listing has expired".
Any ideas?
It kept doing that to me until instead of adding it to the cart, I used buy it now, then logged into paypal, then applied the code and got the discount. Going in to pick it up from my local store now after they rang to say it was ready for pick up. Only worked after I logged into paypal so not sure if you have to do that step.
I received the invoice email and it says the chrome cast are on order. I think they got hammered with the ebay deal and even though the chrome cast was showing in stock the stores were unable to catchup with demand.
Damn, though I got through with the Buy Now link instead of add to cart, but got hit with the Unavailable in Requested quantity. Curses.
Classic GG taking down anything worth getting as soon as the promotion starts.

Reporting TGG for a scam. You should be able to buy & put in your cart to keep shopping.
Also haven't been able to get it working via buy it now (9:30am Tues)

Use buy it now, then apply the code before you do the final confirm and pay. Just bought one that way with the discount. Pick up from store today.
No matter how I try (Add to cart/Buy it now or Paypal/Credit Card) I can't manage to buy the chromecast.

What a crap system - it says they're in stock and lets you get all the way to payment. No wonder eBay's on the decline their system is the worst
I got that multiple times when i tried to purchase a chromecast. Changed the postcode to all types of ones all around Adelaide to only have the same message.
I selected another store on the list that also had stock and voila it worked first go.

Ebay says its goodguys payment system that’s having issues currently and they’re aware of this issue
Still broken for me, can't buy a Google Home or Chromecast. Went into the local store to see if they would price match their own ebay store, was told NO. This is despite there being a brand new Home on the shelf, bundled in security tag wiring, and dozens of Chromecasts stacked on the shelf (along with a tethered demo unit of each).
I also had the same error as others, but as said by others, to bypass it you just 'Buy it now', and then enter the code on the next screen.
