        • @BlinkyBill:

I make a personal judgment on whether to use their services or buy goods from them.

So do I. Again I'm still allowed to criticise their marketing methods.

Also 'what the fruitcake' is slightly more a tongue in cheek version of the expression 'what the f___'.

For the record I stand by my 'desperate' comment. It comes across to me as "buy from us because we like respect aborigines", not "we have a good product". That's desperation in advertising IMO.

        • @Wallenius-01:

the traditional custodians of the lands on which we work

You muppet…. lol….That has nothing to do with stolen generations. That's about the "original owners" of australia that white man stole in 1788. 230 years ago!

When the AFL or whoever do a racist and divisive "welcome to country" at the MCG, they are referring to the people who used to live there thousands of years ago….. until Europeans arrived. And that's what Mungi's comment refers to.

    • +5

Mungi is another word for lightning of The Dharawal People of NSW

Our entire company is Australian and we love our country and we respect the traditional landowners.

      I'll pass that feedback on.

      • -1

I respect my parents, family and friends, but on my CV when applying for a job, I don't have to state it. It comes across as desperate and gross.

        :)

Have a good product and customers will come. Repeat political slogans at them and many will turn away. Focus on your product!

        • dunno about desperate and gross. corny maybe.

and odd, if they don't mention anything else i.e. experience, skillset, education, accomplishments.

but say they mention all that? versus a person with exactly the same CV minus blurb about parents/fam/friends? i'd pick corny CV and interview them first. why not?

    • +2

maybe this gives it a bit of context?

    • +1

We acknowledge aboriginal lands in OzBargain ads now? This is the dumbest thing I have read on OzB in a while.

Dunno, I just read your comment.

      • Zinggggg ;)

  • are you guys selling to current telstra cable HFC users? or does the cease sale apply?

    • It depends on your service class. If you currently have nbn and the nbn modem, we can activate your service

      • so no nbn/nbn modem, no service - right?

hope you are still here whenever they fix the hfc issues. think i'll be waiting. for a while…

        • We'll be here :)

Talk to us on live chat and we can double check for you

        • Same here…. im stuck with bad shitty nbn hfc and cant upgrade or move plans..

  • +1

    Hi Mungi,

Are NBN FTTH connections limited to the retail speeds? I'm wanting more than 40mbit upload, but can't find out how or how I can get this arranged. Any suggestions?

    • Yes & No.

Some of our customers order multiple nbn connection and bridge them however this is a bit complex

    • Only certain ISP offer 250/100.
And if they do offer it, it is only available at certain POI

  • Ah sod it. Just signed up for Telecube 100/40 1000gb Whirlpool plan at same price but with $99 setup

    • +4

I would never sign up with a company which asks for a setup fee. When others can do it for free.

      • They have other offers with no set up fee.

    • I've been happy with mine so far, no complaints.

    • Same here. Just connected with Telecube today…

I'm not happy about the fact that they force dynamic IP and CGnat, but you can pay a $5.50 a month to get a static IPv4 address.. I wish it was abit cheaper, like $3 or something. Oh well. Even Mungi has dynamic IP .

  • If I sign up today for an activation at a later date, can I cancel with a refund sometime before that date ?

Reason being I'm unsure how long I'll be in the country.

    • Also currently only TPG ADSL2+ is available at my address.

      • Since when does an address have just TPG DSLAMs in the exchange with no others?!? I think you'll find you'll have Telstra (Wholesale) there also…

    • No problems at all. Let us know and we can help with that

  • I'm currently with Mungi.

If anyone would like speed tests or trace routes let me know.

    • +1

      Thanks for that!

  • I'm new to the NBN and am only due to get it in Q1 next year. If this is no good, what is?

My house is 30m from the node (it will be a FTTN connection). What's a good provider for a 100Mb/unlimited download connection?

I'm prepared to pay $100/pm - and a bit more if the service is good

    • Try us out! We have no setup fees and no contracts

      • -1

If you can provide me at least 90mbps at any time, any day, no restrictions, drop outs, buffering etc I just may do that

        Can you?

        • +2

Yea you won't get that speed on the node regardless who you're with..

        • +5

What planet are you on?? How about a daily head massage?

This is a cheap RSP.. you're seriously asking for guarantees?

Even Aussie Broadband which is an ozb and wpool favourite can't deliver on that promise. Telstra wouldn't either btw.

        • Yes

        • -1

@apptrack: Mmmm. My friend who lives in the next suburb from me and has NBN FTTN consistently gets 80-90Mbps on Aussie Broadband. He is also within 50m of his node

        • On FTTN? Thats never going to happen.

        • @R4: May be so, but there is quite a few factors. I'd consider going with Aussie Broadband if you want those speeds…

FTTN offers speeds of around 50Mbps to 100Mbps. Attainable sync speeds vary wildly regardless of distance due to many factors, and one of these factors includes your proximity to the node. For example, the average speed for those more than 700m in distance is around 25Mbps – 30Mbps.

        • +1

Go with Aussie broadband,i, switched from Telstra one week ago. im getting 90mbps+ at all times of the day😊, even Telstra couldn't do that, leaving Telstra was the best thing I did

        • @Pacify: It does happen - there's people on here getting it:
          http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2538244

          and on other threads

The node is literally outside my front gate

        • @apptrack:

I'm planning on using Aussie BB

The node is about 30-35M from where the telephone line enters my house

        • @sct911: Are you on FTTN? If so, distance of the node from your house?

        • +1

yep fttn, no idea on node distance , modem syncs at 100mbps, speedtest.net results are at 92mbps, any time of day

        • @sct911: run a test on a lesser known speed test site. Speedtest.net is prioritised.

        • @ZubatRingo: don't need to, steam games download at 11.5MBps, so it's around the ballpark

        • @R4: I agree, i am 450m from node and i am consistent 80+ all times, at night 90+ consistent.

  • Any current users paid for the $19.95 Mungi Turbo add on - did it make much difference?

    • +1

      Surely 100/40 Unlimited doesn't need a Turbo Addon…

  • Mungi why not Fungi

  • Since I don't have any modem for NBN, I'll pass this time. 😥

    • Speak with us and we'll see what we can do :)

      • Just throw in the modem for free

        • and 6 months trial

  • Hi,

What's the difference between turbo and standard? It's still carried over the same Nbn line right?

    • "Mungi Turbo
Higher performance network with less congestion. Recommended for business, prosumers or heavy gamers. This can be added anytime. This add-on is dependent on your nbn technology."
Sounds like a similar concept to what MyRepublic does with the gaming option.
Some other ISP's include this by default, hence higher prices/restricted data.

      • This topic came up on the last deal. With potential customers saying that the Standard is sold with congestion

  • I hope that you're not Munging during the graveyard shift

  • Is tp-link archer C9 is compatible router for your fttp connections? Connection type PPPoe?

    • It sure is! As long it supports PPPoE

  • Your website says it's called "Lightning 12" not 10 as you listed here.

    • Thanks for letting us know! I've updated this

  • +2

I’m interested in this as I’d like to move out of my republic but how do I know I won’t suffer congestion issues? Port Melbourne nbn

    • Just did a speedtest.

Currently got Download of 93.8 and Upload of 19.1 (That is slow because I'm currently uploading atm)

I'm currently in Darwin, and this was a speedtest to Optus server.

      • +1

        Try at 8pm

      • What is the ping speed from Darwin

        • You have a certain IP to ping?

  • Is there option for "pay as you go" phone line?

    • We've had this feedback raised to us. We're currently working on this will be introduced in the new year :)

  • +1

I went hiking the other day and in the heat and my undies got all mungi. Is this the same thing?

    • Most likely not ;)

    • Idiot.

      • Undies in a twist?

        • And another one… with zero contribution to this thread. Troll somewhere else.

        • Just adding a little fun to a crazy time of year. On a side note a 'Mungi' in New Zealand is a member of Mongrel Mob biker gang. No joke.

  • Hi will this apply to exiting customer? I have sign up couple weeks ago for 2018 Jan. Or should I cancel my account and re sign up again?

    • No issues at all.

Raise a ticket in My Mungi and we'll sort you out

      • that's cool thanks

  • There are too many bored smartarses on this forum.

    • All good. Just a little fun :)

If you have any questions, please let us know

  • I literally purchased the equivalent deal last week at 74.95. Can I be moved to this please?

    • No issues at all.

Raise a ticket in My Mungi and we'll sort you out :)

  • Do you use PPPoE or IPoE? and are you selling a whitelabel product or L2 services from Vocus?

    • We use PPPoE and currently offer a layer 3 service :)

    • Which one is better? L2 or L3?

    • They are not with Vocus.

      • Description says they are:

We currently use Vocus and Engin to connect our customers and plan to grow our network further. We plan to offer free static IP’s early 2018. At this time we only provide nbn services. We currently have a POP terminating in: VIC/TAS, NSW/ACT, WA, SA/NT and QLD.

  • Might sound like a dumb question but what's the OZB specific discount? I'm seeing the same discounted prices on the website … am I missing something?

    • It's a launch of our new prices :)

      • ah ok. It's a good deal but saying "OzBargain Special Offers" is misleading right if it's available to everyone? The only OZB unique promo is the modem.

I might take the punt anyway but …

  • no sign up fees, worth a shot

    • Great to have you onboard! Let us know if theres anything I can help with

  • Im with TPG currently and considering jumping on this. I need to give them 30 days notice…how do I sign up to ensure no outage period?

    • Speak to us on live chat and we'll point you in the right direction

  • How does Mungi compare with myRepublic esp for FTTB?

    • Try us out! We have no contracts and no setup fees :)

  • -2

For all the people already with these guys, I would be crossing my fingers that more people don't join.

I strongly and severely suggest against going with these guys, most of what needed to be said has already been said but I wanted to personally jump in with a warning myself.

Without going deeply into it, even if you did like the service, as soon as they are truly profitable (actually able to promise line speeds) they will be in liquidation.

It's so sad that 1) We wait decades to get a fibre connection and it ends up being a FTTN setup with copper end-points 2) Companies like this decide to use the same profit model that mid 2000's hosting companies used. Possibly using Dodo's Operations Manual.

Sorry If I'm a little all over the place, I have to avoid some terminology and leave out technical competitor relationships I have, even though its light and day.

    Happy to answer anyones qualms.

    • My thoughts exactly. I'm, on FTTP but still have learn't my lesson with unlimited providers.

With Aussie Broadband now and haven't had any issues.

    • That sucks that you feel that way about us.

      Are you currently with Mungi?

Our biggest advantage is that we own DreamIT Host, this allows us to significantly reduce our costs on support and transit.

You can read our review from DreamIT Host here https://au.trustspot.io/store/DreamIT-Host

      • I am definitely not with Mungi, I'm not sure if you read my post in its entirety.

Honestly, owning a hosting company is barely an advantage, 'maybe' a shortterm advantage to share overheads; albeit this is just buying you more time while also bringing down a potentially stable business.

Assume I know the same or more than you about the wholesale market, You and me both know you should have started a business by finding high paying clients for quality lines (quality over quantity) and THEN spread out to attacking the large ISP's on pricing. You have chosen instead to overload every line you own at the resource expense of the customer.

Sidenote: You shouldn't use reviews from one company as testimonials for a separate company, no matter how close they are in terms of ownership or function.

    • +1

Exactly what losses would you incur as a customer - if this particular start up/offer folded down the track? Just the inconvenience of having to search for another provider perhaps (or a potential VOIP number loss/cost of the modem possibly if you decide not to BYO?)??. Particularly as Mungi offers… "All our plans include no contracts, unlimited data, dynamic IP included, no late fees, no connection or disconnection fees…."

To "strongly" and "severely" suggest is a bit of apocalyptic overreach to me.

Geez, how about a fair go?
