Probs better paying more for the a7ii

    • Yeah A7 mark 1 is so old now.

    • I have the a7ii and the IBIS is def worth the extra money, if you dont care about that then you wont see too much of an imporvement in IQ between the two. The lens normally sells for around the 300 mark I thik so for around 970 odd the Body is def worth the price

This deal has a kit lens included AFAIK

      Body only

      • true!!!

  • I'd spend the extra money for the a7ii (IBIS + No crappy night reflections).

    • Imho i would not pay extra for the A7ii or A7r. The sensor in this is exactly the same as the a7ii. The in body stabalisation is overstated and not really essential unless perhaps if you shoot a lot of video. Sensor reflects are also uncommon to be a real issue.

IMHO Spend the extra money buying a better lens. The camera body depreciates, a good lens doesnt depreciate much. This is a good deal and a smart buy.

Disclosure: I use the a7, a7ii and the a7r2 for work.

      • Although the sensor is the same,I think for the extra what $250~ (Pretty much the value of the lens new, which most will sell as it’s not good glass) you’re saving by getting the A7 it’s not worth it in my mind. It’s not only the sensor reflection and ibis that differeniate between the a7 and A7II. For those considering the a7 read this article: https://thedigitalcamera.net/sony-a7-vs-a7ii-whats-the-diffe…. Some of the aspects might not be important to you, so I guess it’s a purely personal decision. They are both capable performers.

        • I dont think you can pick up an A7II for $250 extra. Usual price difference is about $400-450 for the body only.

      • I would pay extra for A7ii

  • Too old. Better hunt for a good A7 II or A7R deal.

    • Lol sony must love you for falling for their marketing spin.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with an a7. It is still an awsome full frame camera and the features in the A7ii or A7r are not necessarily worth the extra cost. Do your homework before filling up sony's bank account.

      • Plastic mount and green reflection at night is enough to break the deal.

    • Its people like you that enables Sony to get away with releasing a new revision model every 6 months and charge an extra $1000 each iteration.

  • Wasn't there a deal for the mk2 for around this price not too long ago?

  • Can anyone comment on the usability of this kit lens? Is it worth keeping or finding some thing else as an all-rounder?

    • +2

It's an ok-ish lens. Very good entry point and good for video too.

  • I got a a7ii for 1588 after cashback at digidirect

  • I found a cheap used a7 body one time. Was going to get it until I researched the cost of their lenses.
