LG 25" - 21:9, 2560x1080, Budget IPS Ultrawide (25UM58-P) - $149 Delivered (with Free Shipster Trial) @ Kogan

ADDENDUM:

I found this offer when coming across a recent PC Gamer article about Australian PC Gaming Boxing Day deals.

For $149, plus delivery (which can be about $14-20 for most urban suburbs); this thing seems like quite the steal and could be enticing for anybody looking to have their very first taste of the ultrawide monitor experience for themselves. Also seems like a perfect backup or spare.

Not exactly sure when the offer ends, but it's probably when Kogan decides to end their Boxing Day Sale which is likely very soon from now.

Had a look at Dick Smith's ebay store and found the same monitor, but cheaper with PUNCH

Thanks for pointing that out, I was about to make the purchase on the Kogan store.

Go to buy a $50 off kogan voucher on the forum, combining with Shipster's free shipping. :)

        • +3

Just out of curiousity, where do all these vouchers come from?

        • +3

@junoz86: The $50 off consists of a $20 off and a $30 off, which are stackable.

I only know the source of the $30 off, which is from the promotion with Domino's Pizza

        • @junoz86: woolworths kogan giftcards sale ended yesterday

Remember if you haven't already, you can sign up to shipster and get 2 months of free shipping from selected retailers (Kogan is one of these). So with that offer you can get this for $149 free delivery

    • Link to the deal for anyone unsure what this means. There shouldn't be a problem in receiving free shipping to most areas, just need to make sure your shipping costs are no more than $20, otherwise you won't be able to get free shipping with Shipster.

    • Would Shipster's savings stack onto Dick Smith's Ebay offer with the code?

      • +1

Unfortunately not, you have to buy from the Kogan site to be recognized as a shipster member when you go through checkout

I have this, great monitor for movies and general screen time but don’t buy if you need it for fine resolution computing.
    I do love it though!

  • +2

You can get it much cheaper with kogan vouchers and free shipping with shipster.

  • Thanks op! got one for 139 shipped with shipster and $10 referral credit

  • No displayport though which is what kept me from jumping at this.

    • +3

You can see why they wouldn't bother with display port for a 1080p 60hz monitor

      • I believe it operates at 75Hz, but the point stands.

      • +1

Ah that makes sense. Sorry I'm just getting back into PC gaming and forget some of this stuff.

  • I wouldn't recommend a non standard aspect ratio. The pillarboxes will drive you insane.

    • +1

There's probably a reason why this is so cheap… The 21:9 ratio hasn't really taken off anywhere.

      • 29" or even 34" is fine

25" is way too small for an ultrawide

  • +3

I considered this for a moment but possibly not worth switching with my 24" Dell Ultrasharp 16:10. There's not much more screen realestate here - actually less than the Dell.

    • I switched from a 24" 16:10 to this, and I much prefer this. It's sharper than the dell (higher PPI), and the screen estate is muuuch more conducive for multitasking - splitting it 2 vertical columns on 21:9 is much better here than any split on the 16:10…

      also, why not use both?

      • Thanks. What's this ratio like for photo or video editing?

        • Honestly, doesn't seem to be much point for photos, since most photos are closer to the 16:9 ratio anyway, unless you've got a lot of those 'tools trays' open.

For videos, it's much more comfortable fitting 2-4 source files on the screen, and much longer seek bar is a minor QOL.

true, i don't think 25" is large enough for an ultrawide screen. You would need at least 29" screen safe to comfortably work with a ultrawide screen monitor

      • Remember that MSY deal last January on the 34" of this LG - $199 delivered wasn't it. Caused all sorts of craziness (and anger from those who missed out).

        • +1

The ppi on that, though, is unbearable personally. At 34" it's 3440x1440 or bust.

          @xrailgun:

I agree if it's for anything text based it would look quite pixellated, though for for gaming or watching movies it would be fine.

I have a 29" 1080p ultrawide and its about as large as I would go at this res.

  • Picked one up, planning to use it with another 144hz gaming monitor, thanks OP!

  • Daxn sold out…

  • Thx for the deal
