  • Is this those little ones you get at McDonald's breakfast?

    • Yes. They're terrible, but at this price, some people don't care.

  • I wonder if it has anything to do with the peanut butter being bought by Bega. The larger bottles have been through re-branding already.

    • +2

Yeah that. but mainly because the use by date is only a few days away.

        Should have read that bit.

I thought the same about it not being kraft.

    • God I can use the money off any food, I'm so in debt. Its a good find, and seeking

This is being sold so cheaply due to still having Kraft branding & Bega buyout. All stock was supposed to be changed over affective 1 Jan 2018 to remove references to "Kraft", so Bega would have made sure the distributors offloaded this yesterday.

    • +1

Plus use by in a few days.

      • +2

        Should have read that bit.

Yeah me too. I guess you could say i spread my time a little thin when reading some descriptions…

You'd probably have better luck if you advertised on GrindR.

  • I learnt something today about peanut butter, my dietitian said that the fat/oil in peanut butter is actually healthy.
I always had thought because its oily, and buttery, it was unhealthy, but actually its the opposite. I guess maybe there is no 'butter' and just peanut oil.
Idk, but for any1 such as myself who had felt guilty eating this greasy oily spread, you can now enjoy and rejoice in the knowledge that peanut butter is 1 of lifes pleasures and treats which is actually good for you .

    • Its still very calorie dense, so you cant have alot of it.

      • True. Everything in moderation. I was very surprised for dietitian to reccomend it as a healthy food.

    • +2

Your dietitian would be talking about peanut butter that's either 99% or 100% peanuts (almost a completely different product to this), not this spread that's packed full of sugar, salt and vegetable oils

    • There's good and bad oils and fats.
This stuff as someone mentioned is not good for you.

Want healthy peanut butter…make it yourself. Roast peanuts, blend, add some good quality oil. Done!

      • Where do you buy 'good' peanut butter then ?
I dont really cook or do anything in the kitchen (lack of knowledge and more so, im not motivated) .
I would buy the 'good' peanut butter, if any1 knows which 1 to buy or where to buy it .
Dietitian did mention that vegemite was bad due to the salt, not sure why she did not mention if most peanut butter is high in salt also .

        • +1

Just buy 100% peanut spreads.Have a look at the ingredients, I love the brand Mayvers where you can find at woolies and Coles. Good to stock when they are doing half price.

        • +1

There is a salt reduced vegemite it has an orange lid. supermarkets sell proper 100% peanut peanut butter. I like the mavers dark roast. Pics is also a good brand. There are always half price deals for these at Coles and woolworths listed on ozb

        • @Qkumber:
Thankyou. I will try the Mavers dark roast you like.
I tried the salt-reduced vegemite and didnt taste as nice to me. Might go back to it, it wasnt that it tasted bad, just that I like the original vegemite better.

i cant believe they get away with the slogan "the good nut" …. always makes me think that somone in the factory had a good nut into the vats.

  • I was able to grab this bargain last month, short dated peanut butter and jam. It seems to be up to store manager to mark down near expired goods.
    Check you local officeworks :-)

  • Office works sure sell some obscure things
