Awesome! What's returns like? Non existent?

    • +3

      Non existent unfortunately

  • how good it is for gaming

    • +25

      Very good @ 1fps

    • +12

Don't game on a laptop. If you need a laptop, get a cheaper one and a dedicated gaming PC. Trust me.

    • +1

Better than integrated graphics, but not as good as pre-pascal dedicated graphics. so… pretty crappy.

    • +1

You have to lower settings and resolution to get anything current gen to run acceptably on an MX150 (Warning: probably NSFW violence since it's videogames)
But it's okay if you're not expecting too much. Should run last gen and less demanding current gen games well though.

    • +11

Huh? I'm not sure the rest of the comments in this thread have properly considered the actual specs of this laptop.

The MX150 GPU is essentially the same as a desktop GT 1030. Not a powerhouse by any means but can easily run any e-sports title on high/ultra at 60+ fps. AAA titles if you turn down the graphics resolution can be run smoothly as well. Leaps and bounds better than integrated graphics.

It actually has slightly better performance compared to a Maxwell GTX 850M / 950M, which were both used in fully fledged (albeit budget orientated) gaming laptops (those in the $1.2k to $1.4k price range) all the way up until Pascal Mobile chips were released in 2016.

It's obviously better to get a dedicated desktop for pure gaming but if you're looking for a light, general purpose laptop which can also run some games at a pinch, you can't go wrong with a proper quad core i5 and the MX150.

    • +1

You can have a look here, specifically this video for gaming performance. Reviewer's conclusion was that it can run most things on 1080p low settings at playable frame rates.

    Excellent post. Tempting tempting!

Would have jumped on this if I sold my T560.

    • +6

      Nothing to see here.

  • -1

Be careful of gst and shipping broker requirements at that price!

  • Can I add more ram?

    • +2

      Not upgradable

  • What a deal! If only I have the strength to throw my laptop out of the window

    • I can do it for you!!

  • wondering, how does this (Xiaomi) compared with Lenovo / Dell around same spec?

    • +2

Someone posted this on the other deal from earlier today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBZHavTlT6w

Warranty is going to be your primary concern, buying from overseas compared to the Lenovo or Dell with an Australian company presence.

  • +1

Does anyone know what kind of converter I would need to charge it? Or what type of charger I would need to buy with this.

    • +4

      USB type cccccccc

  • how does this compare to a macbook air which cost almost the same ?

    • +4

You won't be getting these specs in a Mac.

      • +1

maybe in a few years you might get close, it'll cost you a kidney and your left nut to get.

nice find. i bought mine for 1300 and still think it was well worth it ( higher speced version)

        • $1,300 AUD for a i5-8250U 16GB RAM 256GB SSD?

        • +1

@sky blu: yes that’s the one. Bought when they first came out.

        • @Kiato: That's a good price I think. Did that include the 10% GST?

        • @sky blu:

Yes it included the gst hit. But as I said it was just after they came out so not to bad of a price. It replaced my mac book pro ( I got a i7 version aswell a month ago but yet to use it). Added a second m.2 and now it’s my main work laptop. These are well worth the money, and look great. Functionality is good once you reinstall windows. And I’ve not had a single issue. Updating drivers makes the m.2 drivers a lot faster than they are from the factory though.

        • @Kiato: how much Tax did u have to shell out for the i7 model. Am planning on going for the i7 if it sounds resonable

        • @navster: He got the i5. He said yes to my comment.

Using Quick Maffs he prob got it for around $950 USD shipped before the 10% tax.

        • [@sky blu](/comment/5586489/

Actually you are both right. I have the i5 16 gig version which I’ve been using for a good while now and I have the i7 16gig variant but it’s new still in the box.

Yes tax was 10% and it cost about 1420$ total after tax and shipping for the i7.

        • @Kiato: Why did you get the i7 too? If compared between the (2) I think it is worth it to spend an extra $120 for the i7.

The price on this deal is pretty sweet then.

    • nowhere near as stylish. people won't instantly like you with the xiaomi logo, unlike the mac air

      • +1

people won't like you simply because of the computer you use :)

      • the MI logo is hidden on the inside so they will probably be within striking distance before they can start with the hate for not using a mac. just use a cover on the outside.

        • +3

At this stage I don't know who's trolling who

  • If anyone is buying…
Could you please report back LCD panel manufacturer?

  • Is this a reliable site to order from?

  • Not sure how the specs of this laptop compare to a similar priced dell or lenovo locally - but how is the operating system and installed software - i mean I don't want to be paranoid, but being a chinese supplier, have there been any reports of rigged laptops? I wish it weren't true but obviously with some of the chinese phones we saw some of the stuff preloaded on phones - for those of us not tech savvy to remove this it would be great to get some surety.

  • I wish there was a 13 or 14" version of this (the air is a lot less powerful :( )

EDIT - actually looks like LITB has a version of the air with an i5-7200M and MX150 for US $739 - which also looks like a good deal!

    • +1

Do you understand the sky leap for the 7th Gen to the 8th Gen Intel CPUs. The 8th Gen is quad core and still more efficient and frugal in power than 7th Gen

      • i do, although unless the mi notebook air comes with the 8th gen CPUs then i dont really have too much of a choice, do i :)

if the air was available for this price with an 8th gen i5 in it then i would be very excited indeed :)

  • Hi OP please run a deal for the i7-8550U, 16GB RAM model. Thanks!

    • Too busy buying eneloops ;)

    • +1

Rep was reading the comments so he decided to give a 23% discount on the i7 model.

      See here: https://www.lightinthebox.com/xiaomi-laptop-15-6-inch-intel-…

Final price will be $997.97 USD

  • Has anyone here bought the i7 model with 16gb ram and how does that compare. Is the price difference worth it considering the additional tax on the higher spec model?

    • +1

      Yep, read up ^^

  • I tried to buy this with my 28 degree card, but it was declined. I tried again with the same issue. Now I have two pending transactions on my 28 degrees card with hardly any credit remaining, and no item purchased. Has anybody else had such an issue?

    • Hi OP, can you comment on this?

  • This over? Shipping showing at US$23.45 for me?

    • Same here

      • Ok. Worked on mobile.

        • Were you able to get cashrewards on mobile?

        • @brownbag: as usual I forgot about that 😂

  • It seems that shipping isn't really free unless the item is purchased on mobile. Is that the case? Can somebody confirm?

    • It is free. PM the rep here if you have any issues.

  • Does anyone know which shipping carrier lightinthebox uses to ship this laptop to aussie?

    • +1

Appears to be DHL from the shipping information I've received.

Took ~5 days to receive the tracking number after my order was flagged as being 'shipped'. The tracking number only shows that the 'shipment information has been received' on the DHL portal. Not quite as prompt as I had expected…..

      • Same. Even though its advertised as "Expedited Express (3 - 6 business days)", it took 6 business days just to process my order. I then got an email to say it would be sent via "Postal Service that usually takes 14-28 business days"….

        • Have you received your order?
Got hit with a $220 GST invoice today even though i paid $992 AUD on the day. It took 15 days to leave HK so the declared price was $1016 according to the new exchange rate. Urgh.

  • +1

    Hi OP and Rep,

Can you please send me a coupon for free shipping on browser? I cannot get this to work.

    Thank you!!!

    • me neither

  • Note that the AUDUSD exchange rate has dropped to the point where this is likely to incur GST on import. I cancelled my order on that basis.

  • what about customs import fee for this

  • Hi Admins - I think free shipping should be taken off this. It's not much point having free shipping and cashrewards if one is only available without the other.

  • Hello, is this deal still live? Shipping seems to cost ~$25 and no other option for free shipping, which pushes to price >1000.

  • I bought the i7 model and I have a 250 tax cost I need to pay for before I get the laptop. Is this normal - did other people get this?
Additionally I was also charged for shipping…

    • Had the exact same thing happen to me today. But with the i5 model which only cost me $992 AUD. Are you going to pay it, or have it sent back for a refund?

      • Hi mate - I decided to pay it because I didn't want to risk having any complications with refunding plus the laptop is really good even if it is an extra 250…
Additionally uni is about to start and didn't want to go through the trouble of getting another whole new laptop again…

People thinking of buying it now just be aware it will cost an extra 300 (250 ish for tax and 50+ for delivery/insurance!)

        • I have to agree. I ended up paying it too. Although to their credit, LiTB offered me $90USD (half the customs tax) in compensation in store credit. They had no obligation to reimburse me, considering the payment does not go to them at all.

Anyway enjoy your new device! Hopefully I will receive mine Monday :)

        • @jefftran91:

If you don't mind me asking how did you get the compensation - wouldnt mind some myself :D

          Hope you get yours soon!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OENQ4MacSto -> a good link to get english version

        • I'll PM you

        • @jefftran91:

Why was the charge $250 if GST is supposedly 10%? Shouldn't you have been charged ~$100 ?

        • @musicinbed69:

Estimated value: $1016 (actual amount paid $992)

          GST: $121.30
          Other levy charges: $83
          Advance payment: $22

Whole thing stinks and I'm disputing it, but its either deal with GST people/DHL or deal with LiTB for a refund so…

        • @jefftran91:
If you could PM me too. I'd like to find out how to get compensated too.

        • @jefftran91: oh I didn't expect "the other charges" - that is scary.

Can I ask where did the "estimated value" come from? I thought if the goods itself is less than $1000 AUD (but invoive is over $1K including shipping) then the import GST would not have applied?

        • +1

@sky blu: It's based on the AUD value on the date of export. So if they took a week to ship it and the exchange rate dropped (like it did here) you get slugged.

        • @dom: Thanks. So to reiterate, if the value of goods is less than the equivalent $1,000 in AUD, there will be no duty payable even if the invoice value brings it over the threshold?

        • +1

@sky blu: No, it generally includes the transport cost. https://www.ato.gov.au/Business/GST/In-detail/Rules-for-spec…

My point was that the exchange rate that applies is that for the date the product was shipped, not the date it was purchased or arrived in Australia.

        • @dom: thank you

  • +1

How does this stack up with the Asus VivoBook S15 (the new one with the 8550U? Seems like the same specs at around the same price? Can anybody comment on the differences, pros and cons of each?

    • hey, i'm interested in this too. perhaps you could do some googling and come up with the list and let me know? thanks!

  • Currently $1,049.83. Is this because our dollar has dropped?

    • yeah :(
