    I use https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/6285327 for recurring reminder - it's FREE!

I was just about to post that…

      This is better:
Put Google reminder in your partner's mobile & she will shout & will let you know it is time to do your work.

      • +1

Mom’s are even better! When they nag; you’d rather neck yourself then listen to their nagging!

      • Bugger that.

She can put the bins out!

free if you use Calendar on your phone

If I forget, I walk out to the curb and use my eyes to see what the neighbours have out. ;)

    • +8

I once had both my neighbours put out different bins.. so confused and torn in the middle I was.

      • +10

That is when you put both out and let the garbage people decide ;)

    • LOL. +1

  • +1

My neighbors did it better :)
How could you miss if the whole street already put their bins out except you. :D

      When you are drunk.

      • Or colourblind.

    • +1

Didn't leave the house that day?

  • +3

I just see what the neighbours have put out as I drive home… sometimes they get it wrong though lol.

    • +4

..then the whole row of houses get it wrong :P

      • It's better to look correct and be wrong than to be right and look incorrect.

        • Follow those lemmings off the cliff

        • +1

Not if you've got things in your bin that you REALLY need gone.

        • @Waynes world: Use your neighbors bin if your bin gets full?

        • @Waynes world: If you have things you REALLY need gone. I'd suggest not using a bin. Evidence is pretty easily recoverable

        • Is it's in a bin in a public area, it's deniable :)

      • +1

Haha … I put on purpose the wrong one out to confuse everyone :-)

        • And did the whole block follow you?

    • +3

      Ha!

I religiously put my bin out early every week (routine) and mine are typically the first out. Once, just once I had a brain failure and put the wrong bin out.

By the time I realised and went out to swap them, too late, damage done, majority of street wrong (sorry guys, I let you down).

I never realised I played such an important role (dusts fingers on shirt).

The guide to 'How to (profanity) with your neighbours'.

Bloody hell, that will save me having to buy a pencil to mark a calendar, keep the large magnetic colour coded fridge magnet my council gave me, or overtax the calender app on my smart-phone. Can you also program what the colours of the bin lid means?
Talk about a solution looking for a problem…

  • Are you incapable of remembering to put your bins out on a certain day every week or are you incapable of seeing other people's bins out? Not sure.

Coming soon, gadget in bathroom to remind you to brush your teeth.

      Bluebottle:
It's one of dem tings what it is that wakes you up at eight o'clock, boils the kettil, and pours a cuppa tea.

      Eccles:
Ohhh yeah. What's it called? Um.

      Bluebottle:
      My Grandma.

Is this kit a ripoff of something a tinkering inventor just put out?

    Boo Jaycar

  • In vic you might not need to be reminded to take out recycling bins if they stop collecting .

A lot of people saying this is unnecessary but I've got one and I reckon it's legendary. Fun to put together if you're into electronics and it helps me out all the time. Sure I've got a phone but a reminder goes off and I look at it and then I move on with my life, whereas this thing flashes all night so I have no excuse. Also can handle complex schedules with regular bins, recycling and garden waste.

    • +1

You can still do all of that on your phone.

    • True. You can use it for other things if you want as well.

  • I use a 9 pm alarm set on Thursdays. Even basics phone have a weekly alarm now.

  • +3

If you live in Brisbane QLD, there's an app for that. Called What Bin Day. It's great

  • More rubbish for the rubbish…

I think most sane people would just use their phone

  • +1

Calendar on phones are cheaper and more effective. Or set up google/Alexa to remind you

  • +2

Will be $5 in the bargain bin soon

  • I just copy what my neighbors are doing..Ez

  • Seems like a waste of money. Normally I just take the red (garbage) bin out first, then check the street if the green (organics) bin or yellow (recycling) bins are out, then take the same bin out.

  • +5

I think people are missing the point of this product. It is a DIY kit for those dabbling in electronics. The value is in the statisfaction of putting the kit together.

    • -1

There is more satisfaction in putting something useful together. In the age of the mobile phone, this isn't it.

  • +1

You can use My Waste app also. ACT collections schedules are available in it, so check for your local area.

    • Waste apps are the way to go. i downloaded my local councils app and it sends me a message what bins are out each week. It also sends other information- just this week it sent a reminder to leave green bin by the curb to be replaced. another week they said collection will be delayed as one of the trucks broke down.

  • I'd like to know which area has four bins and what the forth bin is for?

    • Electronics recycling ;)

    • +1

      Electronics Waste like this one

  • If you stick your housemates/family member photos on the box in place of the bins, it becomes a nice chores reminder.

  • I need one of these but instead reminds me to wash my car after weather is clear for at least 5-7 days.

  • i just follow my neighbours. it has served me well for years …

  • For those with an Echo Amazon Bin Collector Skill

  • Just check what bins your neighbors have out - cost FREE!!!

  • I use a calendar with a magnet placed on the fridge - and it's free. Who would buy this absolute POS.
