        • 4th and 5th pictures on the listing.

          • @Goldfire: Oh, interesting. They could have definitely lifted that photo though if it's not them, but definitely could be.

      Only 3 available… next!

    • Good price but 16TB only

    • Seems risky. From their feedback they usually sell 4TB but they have sold 88 of these 16TB and have a bunch of other 18TB and 20TB for sale?

      • Yes, see above for the group buy information. I'm fairly sure this eBay seller is the supplier for the group buy here on Ozbargain. Here's the last one: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/736571

      • Why is it risky?

        • You might get a brick and then have to spend time submitting a claim to get a refund and then wait weeks or months for that refund.

          • +1

@videoman: I am just curious, how can you tell if the seller is selling defective items?

  • Merged from QNAP TS-464-8G 4 Bay Celeron N5095 8GB NAS $799 Shipped @ Harris Technology via eBay
    Go to Deal

This seems like a reasonable deal - last one I could find here was $9xx or so. These are decently specced devices, but I don't care much about transcoding etc. I probably should get around to ripping all the BDs I never watch anymore!

    • +2

nb: this is the crap one.
the 8GB is soldered onto the motherboard.

buy the 4GB and you have two sodimm slots

      • interesting why they have this model in the first place?
        I've upgrade my TS-464 to 2x16GB

        • +1

tbh idk. It's such a stupid thing to go out of their way to design something that is actually crapper than the other variant and expect to actually sell any

      • Wow! Is that the TS-464-4G? I'm guessing the TS-264 is also soldered on because it's 8G and newer than the TS-464-4G

        • +1

TS-464-4G … has two sodimms: source; i have one, with 2x 16gb ram.
8G according to blah reddit posts and qnap forums, is soldered on.

264-8G according to qnap is also 8GB not expandable

        • +1

Just look at the specs. If it says not expandable then it's soldered on.

      • This. IMO TS-464-4G is the better model. I bought mine for $699 at Umart but looks like they're out of stock at the moment. Added a Crucial 8GB stick for $25 so have 12GB at the moment.

    • And for anyone trying to get their hdds to sleep on the ts464, it is possible, requires 2x nvme ssds for main system partition, some ssh-ing around and setting up an autostart task, and. . eventually it can sleep. Except, mine wakes at 630 and 730 everymorning to do something which i dont know what yet.

      • Probably doing a scrub. Completely normal and in fact desired.

        • no.
scrub i do once a month.
i've installed qboost and disabled a few apps on a schedule to see if theyre the wakeywakey ones.

    • What benefit does going over 8GB give in real usage?

      • Unless you're using zfs or running VMs, not a lot tbh.

        • agreed.
But you can also supposedly run trunas on these.

so i stocked up on ram in case i do that change in the future

          • @FoxJump: Really? Doing that on custom hardware seems pretty painful, I'd rather just get a decent nuc and a usb-c disk array

    • I'll waiting for $6xx deal like before.

    • Qnap Shop and Device Deal both have this model for $750 (Free C&C via Qnap Shop at Vermont or shipping from $14.99 for both).

    • anyone tried it before and can give some feedback on it?

      • +1

I've had the regular sleep tea and although it's a very tasty tea, the sleep part - I think it's more mind over matter.. can't drink it and assume it will knock you out. But I drink it anyway because even if there's a placebo effect going on it's better than nothing. I've had the T2 sleep tea and it's disgusting and gives me an awful dry throat so I would buy this one over it any time

        • I found the T2 sleep teas (I've tried two I think) worked in helping me sleep… the first few times I tried them. But after that, nope.

Haven't tried any from Roogenic yet.

That said, most things like 'sleep teas' I find at best help to relax a little more than usual, but if your (or my) mind is still racing, sleep is still elusive.

    • i dont understand so this is basically a surface tablet plus a proper solid keyboard? or the tablet part is different from the usual surface ? (if different, which one better if main usage is the tablet?)

      • Think of it as a laptop with detachable keyboard.

        • but the screen part ie the tablet. its 100% same as the surface tablet ? (well i know probably we cant snap it to the surface thin keyboard)

      • +1

The tablet part is a full computer like a Surface Pro. The keyboard part has a solid keyboard, extra battery, extra ports, and the higher-end models (not this) also has an nVidia GPU in it.

        • ah ok

          • @CyberMurning: Oh the tablet part doesn't have a USB socket like a Surface Pro BTW.

            • @eug: ooo meaning its quite limited of what we can do if i just carry the tablet to uni/class/work for example (in term of accessibility and no charging as well i guess?)

              • @CyberMurning: For charging you can use a Type-C to Surface Connect cable like this. I imagine you'd want to type though?

                • @eug: but there is on screen keyboard, right? basically i want a surface tablet on the go with a little flexibility at home with proper keyboard

                  • @CyberMurning: Yeah there is… it works for simple things like filling in forms but if you want to take notes you'll cry. :)

                    • @eug: hmm probably for me better get the normal surface pro. regret didnt get the last deal refub surface pro 5 for $199

      • Difficult to explain in words, Watch a youtube review video on surface book 2

CPU, RAM etc. main components are in tablet, (with a smaller battery)
Base keyboard is detachable from the tablet by pushing a button on the keyboard.
In Laptop mode (tablet and keyboard attached) it is at max like 120-140 * rotatable, on way, (you can attach the tablet other way to get the tablet to show the other side).

Some surface books have a dedicated GPU that is in the keyboard base,

I'd say its more closer to "a surface tablet plus a proper solid keyboard"- backlit keyboard attaching makes it a proper laptop, and gives it more battery, USB ports, and the SD card slot.

        • alright got it.
hmm but total weight 1.9kg thats not light

          • @CyberMurning: most of the weight is in the base/keyboard (tablet itself is very light)

Good monitor for FHD 144-180Hz despite the caveats of IPS for fast motion and dark content, but the price really should be close to $150 considering what's happening in the QHD and 4K segments.

      • what's happening in the QHD and 4K segments

Are you talking about stuff that's out or coming out of Computex? I didn't really keep up with it this year.
