  • This is perfect for my cheapies Pre-Paid phone from Optus (will have to unlock it first)

  • Cancel anytime?

    • +1

Yes, turn off auto-recharge and stop using it after it expires. Or you can contact them to close your account.

  • Two questions:

    1. I'm with tpg (Vodafone). Am I out of luck?
    2. Can you use a different number for 2nd sim?
      1. Go on the site and let us know
      2. You get a different sim to put in dual sim enabled phones. Hint, hint.
    • I ordered a Telstra free sim and a Lyca mobile free sim, so will port out to one of those then port back to this offer

  • +2

    Nothing beats free.

    • +2

Amaysim/cashrewards pays us sometimes to join them for a month. That beats it for me!

  • +1

    OP should add this in:

Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEDT on 31/03/2018. Activation or recharge must be made before the voucher expiry date

  • +1

    How much after 30 days?

  • hmm, problems with step 3 of activation… doesn't like my address, but likes it if i put a 'unit number' in… which i do not have!!
never encountered this before with Kogan

    • Thanks for the tip. It requires a unit number regardless of the address which is silly. I was stuck on this for a good 10 minutes!

      • +1

I called support, they said enter the postcode, but not the suburb… and a house number some 10 houses up the street showed in the match section. I was advised to select it as address has no impact to porting process.

    Phone is fine.

  • Not valid for customers who transfer their existing Australian mobile phone number from Vodafone.

Anyone knows does this means one can transfer number from Lebara to Kogan with this voucher as Lebara is only Vodafone's subcontract(or owned) business?

    • Just find Lebara has the same ABN as Vodafone, definitely same company.I think it is no.Anyone can help answer?

      • Yes, Lebara uses the Vodafone network

        • +1

"Uses" does not mean "exactly is".

"Vodafone" does not mean "Vodafone network".

For example,TPG customers may be able to transfer numbers to Kogan by using this voucher.

      • Lebara is owned by Vodafone.

  • Does it apply to new account only? I had use the free offer before, do I need to create a new account?

    • No, I ordered 10 from an account which I made for the last free sim deal

  • The last one I got, was similar to this deal where it was where you had to port a number in. But I was able to activate the deal without having port any number in. Just wondering if this deal would be the same way?

  • +9

I recently moved house and it is taking Belong a month to connect the internet. So cheap mobile internet deals and an old wifi dongle have been a lifesaver.

So far I have had a 23 gb deal from Kogan for $4.90, Two lots of Optus $10 starter packs (discounted to $3) with 14 gb each, and now I'll transfer the number from one of those onto this and get another 23 gb.

So to have a month of mobile internet with 74 gb will have only cost me $11

  • +1

Sorry for my ignorance, why does this have so many up votes. Isnt this only for one month(I am not saying its bad)? Shouldnt we have to start paying from second month? Is everyone planning to change to Kogan for a month and then switch back to which ever carrier/pan they were in earlier?

    • +3

The value is in the 23gb data for 1 month. Use up the 23gb data and any calls or text is also free for the one month. Discard the sim and number after 1 month. Best use in a dual sim phone where your main contact number is unaffected.

      • Who wants a burner number for just 1 month in addition to your normal phone number? I don't get this either.

        • Virtually free unlimited data with the drawback of repeatedly swapping out sims and being uncontactable unless you have a spare phone lying around or dual sim as slowFTL mentioned.

    • +2

      Yes

  • +1

Did anyone get a code emailed yet?

    • +1

      yep 2 hours

      • Thanks, guess there was a delay due to deal popularity (aka OzBargain'd)

    • +1

Yes, ordered 3:24 PM, received code 4:11 PM.

  • +2

Noice. I have still free credit on belong and now this comes when amaysim expiring. Sweet

  • Yeah free data for two months

  • Hi guys, I got a Telstra sim 6 months ago when the broadband had a problem. I didnt recharge after it expired. Can I use this telstra number to port to get the free data or does it need to be from an active working sim with credit?

    • +2

you can use your Telstra SIM if it is still active (it is OK without any credit)
Telstra SIM without credit will be de activating by telstra after 6month

  • mmmm, didn't activate on the temp number on the sim, unusual, it's waiting for the port…

  • I've got a couple of Kogan sim cards from 4Q 2016. Will they still work?

  • Is it compulsory to bring our number?! I just want the free one month :D

  • If you don't cancel kogan will charge your card another month.

    • +3

You can cancel that through your account (or the app).

    • +2

Not correct abacus! Just Untick Auto-Re-Charge.

      • Yes, I did that recently when I got 3 free $49.90 SIMS, activated them for a friend for the data as his Telstra copper cable got dug up by mistake. I unticked the box, I think it says remember my credit card, and the next month I got charged $49.90 x 3. Kogan refunded the money no problem but as I used different accounts it took ages to work out which credit card for which account, and the initial shock and anger were not worth it.

        • Oh, that's not good. I better check my account history then lol.

        • Over the years I've found kogan to be super slimy. Have you ever tried to unsubscribe to their emails? I bought an unlocked mobile, told then it was locked, they made me jump through hoops, send photos, proof of purchase, etc etc. They finally sent the unlock code (after I half wrecked the phone)..

  • What time does the credit expires on the due date with kogan? Midnight or the time you first recharged?

    • 11:59pm on the day stated

  • +2

Good deal, Kogan is a more valuable brand than Myer. This seems to be working for them so They need to do more of this as

  • +2

Now this is the reason why I check ozbargain everyday.

  • +1

Hey so I'm guessing I can use this /port number over and once 30 days is up use a 12 month voucher? As I.just bought a yearly deal from Kogan.

    • +1

      Correct.

      • Do they stack? Or do I have to wait for 30 days before applying the one year voucher?

        • +2

          No stacking.

        • @Gershom:Oh, my last night free order wasted then. Thanks for this.

        • +1

@mily: No, you can use them sequentially. When the 30 days is expiring activate the 365 day code.

        • @Gershom: The small plan voucher I bought expires this month, so the free 30 day voucher get wasted.

        • @mily:

Not if you activate new sim & voucher code with new ( 2nd. number ) for a nice bonus extra data month.

If you have second unlocked phone ( cheap smartphone burner or other spare ), handy to watch video without draining battery on main driver.

Just need to get other new sim starter pack to port or re-charge your main number

        • @mily: Ah, gotcha.

  • Hi my code was emailed straight away. Problem is it says code is invalid. I am moving from Telstra… quite annoying. I will need to call them

    • My code is invalid too. I just tried a min ago. Has anyone successfully activated the sim?

    • +1

Tried this morning for mine, also not valid… early April fools?

      • Try again without porting a number. That worked for me

        • Hi I called them, waiting time wasn’t much. The guy said that a lot of people are having the same problem. I had to pay $7.90 but he refunds straight away (but it will take up to 3 days to appear back)
I was ported within 5 minutes from Telstra. On 28 February I will activate my 1 year 16gb. (As that’s when it expires) . Unfortunately I will loose the rest of the 23gb, but as it was free and I had no data left on my Telstra prepaid it still 6 days for free :)

        • As in, starting it as a new number?

        • @cloudy:

Yes, think that's what he means. Also read above comment too.

        • +1

          @ozhunter68:

I had to call in order to port my number. They charged me $7.90 but refunded straight away

        • +1

          @ozhunter68:

That doesn’t help as my amaysim free month ends soon and would like to use my number with this deal. Plus I wouldn’t mind sticking by the T&c for once hehe

        • @cloudy:

Sure, just call them or online chat then.

  • Hmm, it won't recognise my phone (OnePlus One) for an accurate coverage map.

    • +1

There are plenty of phones it doesn't know. Go to Voda for their coverage map.

  • +1

    Invalid Voucher message

  • OK might build off for bit then if they are sending out dud codes.
Are people definitely porting numbers or just registering the numbers found on the SIM cards when they get the 'invalid' message?

  • +3

worked for me just then. porting number wasnt neccesary just old a kogan sim i had from before.

  • So I have to port my existing number?

  • +5

It wouldn't allow me to activate when porting my number. It gave the 'code is invalid' message.
Changing step 2 to receiving a new number allowed me to activate.

So at least until they fix the problem it seems porting a number isn't necessary and isn't even possible.

    • That's an irony and kind of funny too lol ( from Kogan I mean ).

  • +1

    Got an invalid code too.

  • +4

Looks like the codes currently only work for NEW numbers. I tried porting my prepaid number over, but the site gives the Invalid Voucher error. If you go back and change from porting your existing number to using a new number, it seems to work even though ON THE PAGE you enter the code, it states "FREE XL 30D PLAN (Bring UR Number) Kogan.com Dec17".

    • +4

      Kogan-Logic(TM)

    • Worked for my voucher codes whether porting in or new number.

  • +5

It won't allow me to port my number from Optus to Kogan. Says Voucher INVALID. Allows me to register a new number though. Wiered. i just wanted to port my current number to kogan and than use it for free for a month before porting back to another Carrier.

    • +2

fyi, I was able to port from Amaysim.

  • I received a voucher code email.

If you are already a Kogan Mobile customer, simply login to your account, click recharge, choose your plan type, then enter your voucher. You will not need a new SIM Card.

Does it mean we can stock up on vouchers?

    • Yes and use it before 31/03/2018

      • -1

        Have you tried?
I tried to use voucher number to recharge an existing Kogan number. It's not working. It would deduct $49.90 from my credit card if I go ahead with it.

Can anyone shed some light on how to use it to recharge an existing Kogan number?

        Thanks

        • +2

I have tried and it doesn't work. I get Invalid Voucher error.

    • +2

Royale with cheese. Well done for trying and sharing here.

Was your credit already expired before you entered voucher code, or does it then just continue on from whatever date your credit expires?

    • …and did you try adding another? Amaysim allow prepayment of prepaid months IE you can add a certain number of vouchers and they get used as the months roll over.
Are you able to try that? I would but I am away for the week, so can't

      • +1

Lol i just noticed that. Won't hurt getting vouchers to add. Worst scenario is won't be added

    • I tried this with a recently expired number but still able to receive calls, got an invalid voucher message

  • Would be good if i can port my existing number then getting a new number which i dont need.

  • +4

Time to load up on KGN shares. Artificially boosting their subscriber numbers again with this deal.

  • +1

Invalid code too when I try to port over from Optus

  • Can I order more than one voucher/sim starter pack? How? Just put in new orders for each one with same account or do I make a new account for each order?

    • +2

Of course, just buy one at a time with same account

Remember to turn off auto recharge

  • +2

I tried porting a number that had previously been used at Kogan, but it failed. I then tried to port my Boost number across and it worked.

It might just be hit or miss. Could others confirm what they are trying to do?

Also, I changed the email address on my old kogan number. (Did this before trying the first time though)
