Hopefully I have this and can purchase some Xiaomi rgbs at a reasonable price. Why have the prices gone up now that I want some?

    • I'm not sure, but I suspect that they've been discontinued. If so, the really good prices last year were probably retailers clearing out stock. The few that still have them are all charging quite high prices. Hopefully there'll be a new version or something similar to replace them.

Sorry OP but you have covered some important info. Could you please send me those numbers so I can verify with eBay?

    • +3

haha, it wouldn't help you anyway, the codes are tied to the accounts they're received on :)

      • +9

Maybe give me your eBay login details while you're at it :)

  • Targeted…..

  • lucky op. i dont got it :'''''((((

  • I received an email today for a $20 off min $30 spend (with code) but it doesn't work for "my" eBay account.

I think someone (in the US) registered an eBay account using my email address - so I get their emails - sigh…

    • think someone (in the US) registered an eBay account using my email address

      Not possible.

      • +1

Sorry - must be possible because it's happened.

I just looked up the ebay ID associated with the account (in my ebay emails) and then searched for all emails with that ID in it (there are many from eBay - various ad's, etc) - all the way back to 15/1/17 where I've got the original "Welcome to eBay" email along with an order which was made and an order sent email - all on the same day.

This is definitely not an account I created - and I never ordered the item in question.

I've just done an ebay password reset on the account and used the "recovery email" method (my email address) (because the associated mobile number isn't mine) to get the password reset link - which I've done and now logged into the account.

The account has no paypal associated with it - but the delivery address is for someone with my name (which is presumably why they thought they might own my @gmail address ([email protected])) but a delivery address in Vic/AU (I'm in Sydney). It's also got an AU mobile number in the account (not mine).

Looks like this person hasn't made another order since that first one.

        I've just closed the account

        • I have an old Hotmail account which receives e-mails intended for other people with my surname from all around the world (predominantly US & Canada). It's quite the laugh. Some of it is really personal.

        • You can't have the same email, once someone selects a particular name with an email provider then it cannot be used again.

        • I understand - what I meant was that as I was an early gmail adopter I was able to get my [email protected] - and other people around the world who happen to have the same name as me just happen to "accidentally" use my email address when they register for things. The emails obviously only go to me and they don't get them - however I receive emails which presumably are meant for them (e.g. this person in Victoria and there's at least two others in the US (I get the emails about products they've bought, etc - e.g. an insurance policy or a car, etc). Their real gmail addresses are probably firstname.lastname###@gmail.com (where ### is some number or something) but it's been misentered into some system at some stage.

        • @Remorhaz: From memory, an eBay account requires you to verify an email address, how would of this happened if they didn't have access to the email account?

        • @Remorhaz:

who happen to have the same name as me just happen to "accidentally" use my email address when they register for things.

How could someone verify it when it was created without access to your account?

        • @Scab - I would have thought so too - but I see no emails inbetween the original eBay Welcome email and everything else (including no email indicating to verify the email address). Perhaps the person originally signed up with mobile only and verified the account via that and then added email after?
As for the other ones - I expect those "registrations" never do any verification - e.g. user fills out (paper) application form for something and it just gets manually entered into some system and I start getting the emails.

  • only got SHIT5

    • I got URINATE10.

    • i DIDNTGETSHIT :D

FU ebay, i sold more than 10k last year in value on ebay and u wont give me $10 off on my $20 purchase.

    • With all the eBay fees and PayPal fees and then delivery cost and maybe some dodgy buyers, how do you make any money for the effort you put it??

      • please dont even talk about profit when ur doing business on ebay but i have to give credits to their exposure.

        • Ah so eBay is more of a marketing strategy?

    • It's the mum's n dads like you taking it up the ta ta that keep these wonderful economies alive.

  • How do you turn on targeted deals?!?!?

    • +2

Hopefully this link will take you to your Communication Preferences page, scroll down to 'Promotions and Surveys,' press 'Show' & make sure all of the Subscriptions boxes are ticked, then hit 'Save.'

  • +2

    I got $20 off $30 spend

  • +1

i got 20% off purchase up to $50

  • +2

    I got $0 off anything :(

All 3 eBay accounts got nothing!

  • +1

How many accounts do you need in order to be target? I never get targeted

  • +1

I also wonder who gets these…

  • +1

I got $10 off. No minimum spend :)

  • +2

    My main account - nothing.
The other account which I hardly use - $20 off on an item that's $30 or more.

A buyer of my item initiated a charge back (he clearly has the item). Instead of doing the right thing and return the item, he just initiate a credit card charge back. Looks like he will get the item for free. Even the $20 voucher won't ease the pain.

  • +1

My code got expired on 18/02/18 :(

  • +2

Cheers OP & eBay bought 2 x $10 eBay GCs from here since I couldn't find any thing else :)

Searching for courses on "How to get targeted on ebay" in Udemy.

    • +1

play the law of averages, ie many more accounts.

      • +1

It seems they only target inactive users. I have never received a targeted offer, but then I was buying about $2,500 per week on average, so I guess they didnt target me, since they already have my business.
I wonder if you can open ebay account, use targeted deal once, then close tye accout and do it all again. This might be best, if ebay chooses to target accounts which havent been used or used very little.

  • Do you link all your accounts to the same PayPal?

    • +1

      I do.

      • Don't tell him that, now he'll hack into them!! :)

  • never got one :-(

  • I never get any of these deals.

I just get 20% off TECH, or something.

I am curious how you know what is 20% off? I click on APPLE on the email page and it has 5,000 listings. I want to buy Apple Airpods and 20% off $230 is the best deal but how do I confirm which sellers are part of the 20% off?

edit I guess their not part of it lol Myer seems my best bet! myer gift card 5% off, plus the $20 off! lol
