Kinect Camera for Xbox 360 Consoles (S and E Models) - $4 Pre-Owned at EB Games

830

Popped into my local and found a stack of Kinect Cameras for the Xbox 360. 95% will be black with the occasional white variant popping up here and there.

Do note that these do not have the AC power pack, which is required for old Xbox 360 models. The S and E models do not require this as the power is integrated into one proprietary port on the console.

    lol this

granted the 360 had a pretty decent kinect catalog unlike the Xbox one

    • +2

Decent in quantity but not quality.

      • +4

What sort of idiot would advertise they pirate games? Lol

        • -2

          It’s a joke. But it’s also true.

        • +2

Are you new to the Internet?

    • That's true though my x360 Kinect runs flawlessly for almost 5?yrs,

My first xb1s Kinect comes with 3 IR light broke (random turning off/on) after a year of use and had it to work when I remove and solder some thing inside. but we ordered a new one and received with only 2 IR light —- we'll see lol

    Any use on a pc?

    • +1

You can download the SDK and do skeleton tracking pretty easily, but you need to get a PSU.

    • +1

Yes but it's a pain to get it working in windows 10. Some of the drivers work and some don't. Better off to use the Xbox One Kinect.

      • +7

But that one is like $8 - I dont wanna spend that much….

        • I will take three. Where do I buy them for $8?

  • +6

Anyone in the Geelong area who wants a power supply, I have an unused one they can collect for free.

    • can you take a photo of the power adapter so I know what to get?

      • You won’t find anything similar to suit. It’s a proprietary USB pass-through caper.

      • From memory you need a 12v 2A power supply. Grab a USB extension cable and splice it together.

There should be the info in this search result.

        https://www.google.com.au/search?q=xbox+360+kinect+wiring+di…

        • It’s not a standard USB connector.

        • @0jay: If the Kinect is plugged into an xbox360 with the custom connector all is good. If using on any other xbox360 or a PC etc, it uses standard USB plus a 12 volt supply. Hence a standard USB cable to cut up and splice to the existing cable. There is no electronics and it is simply a physical connection.

        • @Major Mess: The kinnect plug will not fit a standard USB extension socket is the point. You can rewire it bu that’s an added hassle for a bit of kit of questionable utility.

Bought it, but I have no Xbox or pc 💩

    • +14

I'll have "Signs you have an Ozbargain addiction" for $100.

  • +5

good deal, you can use to make 3d scanners for 3d printers

    • +1

How cool, cheers. I'll look into that as I have a Kinect and never use it beyond 5 minutes.

    • -1

You can. It's not very uh … useful though.

      • +1

@Diji1 - The resolution etc is OK. What specific issues have you had?

  • Can i use it with mi box tv? Thinking of buying one for tv. So i can use the kinect for video calling 🤔

    • The camera has a proprietary cable, but there may be an adapter available to purchase online.

    • No

  • Picked one up. Too cheap to pass up. My kids should easily get $4 of fun out of it.

    • +2

Kinect Party is a good simple title for little kids. The Kinect version of Fruit Ninja is pretty good too.

      • Thanks. Im sure they'll love anything just for the gimmick alone at first.

        • +1

The Gunstringer was also pretty good.

        • @joelab: Yeah, thats another good one.

  • +1

Great, our ones dinged up and a little busted so great to get a replacement. Wish I could find one of those adapters for the Xbox one Kinect though, it’s actully what’s stopping me upgrading to the one x

    • +1

They’re on AliExpress for about $70 including shipping. I just got one.

      • Still painful but thanks, that’s a little more palatable. I wondered when China would start making knock offs of them. If I can find a cheap Xbox Kinect itself is be tempted to mod it myself but it looks like results may vary.

Also, my Xbox ones Kinect appeared to have died recently, called Microsoft to arrange a repair and guess what. We do t fix that anymore! No support at any level, unfortunate it’s not just dead but already decomposing. Bit of a shame,

A few backups will make sure we get the most out of the Kinects for now,, some really good kids games the family uses a lot.

They have to give you a refund or replacement. MS when selling the product in Australia entered into an agreement with our country and it's laws. They agreed to support the product with required data and spare parts, for a reasonable period of time. Considering the age of the product and that MS have simply given up on the product. Your product is unambiguously still within this reasonable time period.

I have been through the same crap with Logitech who don't have spares for breaking key caps with a confirmed design problem, or even feet for their mice. They were aware of the law and once I brought up the issue new product was offered.

        • @Major Mess: its out of Warranty, by a number of years, I think I may be pushing it. Anyway, leaving it unplugged for multiple days seemed to fix it,

        • +1

@mackaxx: It has nothing to do with warranties. They have made an obligation to support the product.

        • @Major Mess:

If it really did break fully I'd likely kick up a fuss,

  • Will this work with Xbox one S? What else I need to buy if it does?

    • Read the description.

  • Lost,
    Description from EBGames

NOTE: This Kinect sensor is only compatible with the new Slim format XBOX 360 consoles.

  • New to gaming, there is xbox 360 S :-)

    • It was the second last in the 360 generations. Followed by the E and than no more.

  • Tempted to get one for the kiddies, please post if you see in a WA store.

    • it's less than $10 including delivery. I believe it's still cheap. I bought with some other games.

    • Perth CBD has a bunch, as well as one (1) with a PSU for $19.

  • I have one of these but it seems terrible. I haven't successfully played a single game with it. I thought my kid might enjoy it but we only have two and a half metres of clear floor space in front of the tv and that seemingly isn't enough.
Doesn't seem to track anything - more frustrating than fun.

    • +6

I have one, and despite what people say it's not too bad. What I worked out helps tracking in small spaces is setting the camera up high so on top of the TV, making sure your front is lit when facing the camera, not having too bright a light behind you, and for little people getting them to stand up straight with arms out to the side and have the. Wear tight fitting clothes as it finds it difficult to differentiate their arms from their body otherwise.

Games I have played are fruit ninja, kinect adventures, kinect sports, Disney fantasia, dance Central and the gunslinger, I have also played ea sports active and your shape. As long as you are open minded there some value in some of these games, but it's not the type of experience that you have with traditional xbox controller based games. The Wii cops almost no criticism but gives you a similar experience IMO.

      • Thanks for the feedback. I'll have to try elevating it a bit higher then.

  • +11

Please buy them all, we really don’t want them anymore

    • Lol amazing. Kinect 360 cost Microsoft half a billion to make, half a billion to advertise and now for you, only $4. Bargain. or 3 for $10?

      • To be fair, they are second-hand ones that have already been sold at least once before. And they are on an old platform.

    • Bundle the with a zumba game and they will sell like crazy.

    • Which store is that, please? I've tried two so far without look and one said they don't often get them in.

      • Castle Towers; here we get them traded in every week. I guess it just depends on your area

        • Thanks, if I venture out that way anytime soon I'll call in.

  • +1

We have had a Kinect for years with our only console, the x360.
The kids seem more interested in their phones these days.
Anyhow, the early teen girls still get kicks out of the dance games, and it is especially good for parties in that respect. They have got every years version of let’s dance since 2014 and a few dance central.

    Definitely fruit ninja.

    • +2

Kinect Party is still a staple at our house. A collection of fun mini games that fly past a a fair clip, keeps the kids on their toes and fun for a
Pretty big age range. Wish it made its way to the Xbox one but all over now I’m afraid.

  • need to buy a X360 for it?

  • +2

These are not half bad as a handheld 3D scanner (Photogrammetry)

  • Wanting to pick one up in the next week but not without tracking down some cheap games to go with it. Couldn't find many on the EBGames website but imagine Kinect Adventures should only be a few dollars? As somebody suggested Kinect Party above, found the base game for free on the marketplace.

Any other suggestion for some half decent games on the cheap?

    • Pretty well any game for the 360'll be cheap, especially kinect games. gun stringer, dance central if you're into dance games, child of eden's interesting, fable journey was supposed to be good, was always keen to try fantasia but never got around to it.

      • Thanks - Child Of Eden was recently free with Games With Gold. I'll need to look out for the rest.

        • No worries. Take note of Jackson's post above re setup. Makes a big difference if done correctly.

      • Is fable journey kinect? I currently have it field with the normal games, will have to change that.

Just checked, how did I miss that? I don't have kinect party yet, will have to leave OK into it.

        • It is, yeah.

        • @0jay: gee autocorrect got me good, was trying to say I had it filed in the wrong spot, and that I would check out kinect party

  • Edit- Wrong post.
